The first time I heard this song I was in love with my boyfriend at the time who’s now my ex. It made me feel a different feeling I’ve never felt before. “I love the way you make me feel “ was my favorite lyric because I did love the way he made me feel. He was indeed not my FIRST love but my first LOVE. It made me think of our late night drives on a clear highway after a long day together. Not long after we split because I had to move to a different state , he came to see me at 12am all the way up until 3am can’t lie… i cried, I cried because knew that would be our last time seeing each other for a good while. But that was my first time crying infront of any boy I liked and he wiped my tears and gave me a hug I felt like my whole life ended. We agreed that long distance just wouldn’t work considering we’re still young which was fair. Fast forward 2 weeks of me being gone we were still in contact ofc… we would ft every day after school and he would tell me he loves me and so on, I think it was on a Sunday of September I found out he was on a date with a girl and when i asked him about it he lied when he didn’t have to….we weren’t together so I cut him off and told him I hated him only because I felt like it was so soon I barely could function without him and he was on a date with another girl. I felt betrayed and lost. But when this song came on I couldn’t help but to cry, I started to understand this song on a different level I went and looked up the meaning to every lyric my favorite one was “I hope the waters deep enough” which means I hope it was worth it or I hope that person can do for u what I couldn’t. I cried day and night to this song …it was on repeat I told myself I’d listen to this song over and over until I could stop crying over it. You would think just because a song makes u cry u would stop listening to it to feel better but I didn’t because I didn’t cry because it hurt me but I cried because it was healing me in words that can’t explain. Eventually I was able to listen to the song and not cry, I was super happy to be at peace with myself again and I learn my lesson to never get tricked like that again. Ofc I still believe in love infact I’m back in contact with my ex again I don’t have any hate for him in my heart anymore but I also can’t really see myself being with him again without feeling away abou how he made me feel in the past, because I’ll never get those tears and restless nights back. Yes he told me his side and I couldn’t be anything but understanding…but the old me would’ve had so many questions that the new me doesn’t care to find out the answer to. He said he’s going to get a flight down here to see me which is funny cus we’re still in highschool but I guess I really did make an impact on him for those last couple months I removed myself out of his life.ANYWAY that was just me explaining how big of and impact his song made one me…this song can be both positive and negative n a good way so I say take it how you wanna take it and I hope this song can heal u like how it heals me. :)

this reminds me of summer when me and my best friend had a double-date thing going on and when i went on holiday. i used to listen to this song every single day i would do ANYTHING to revisit summer.

in the months of april-june of 2022 my mother got open-heart surgery, my dog passed away, and my parents got divorced. i was 15 at the time. i spiraled into a depression. 2023 was arguably the best year of my life and those months of 2022 felt incomparable to the joys i was experiencing in 2023. march of this year (‘24) my second dog passed away. june of this year my 2 yr relationship ended. i had the best summer of my life. october ‘24 my third dog passed away. my cat passed away. my childhood bsf passed away. i discovered this song in late november ‘24. “i ain’t felt this way in years” hit my heart in a way i didn’t know was possible.
