This TAS uses the Game Genie code AISSON, which allows Mario to go through walls from the left side. This is the fastest TAS with this code that I know of. Thanks to Kriller37, who added entertainment to the last 2 rooms of 8-4.

Kriller% is a category I made. Its goal is to collect 37 coins as quickly as possible. Timing starts on taking control of Mario and ends on the frame that the coin counter first shows 37. Sub 45 with 2 frame! I can only get one 8-A first room every 10 minutes or so, but I happened to clutch out the rest of the run after this 8-A. Turnaround room was really inconsistent for me. I'd either mess up the fast accel, short the turnaround, or scroll really far and get frame 83 or so. This 76 was one of the best turnarounds I had ever done, even in practice.

Full jump on frame 106, release B in midair, then do a walking jump onto the third stair. The timing of this jump doesn't matter as long as you land on the same frame and you don't jump 1 frame after you land. Then full jump on frame 199 and D70. 1 less precise input than ua-cam.com/video/mbK15d-xeJo/v-deo.html (the jump that bonks the ceiling), but not as much leniency for the jump into the wall. You can also do TAS pipe entry to save some frames and potentially skip warp zone fast accel. H into warp zone is possible with normal pipe entry but is subpixel perfect.

By the way, apparently, timing ends when the player visually jumps rather than when the input is polled, so this TAS is actually a 6.672 and not a 6.656
I downloaded this recently (a week ago), and beat it after a number of hours. It was a fun romhack, even if it is janky in a few places. But I gotta ask: 1:42 to 1:44. How do you wall climb like that in a non-TAS RTA, apart from just getting lucky? 😮 (That's some quality subpixel jumping that I think I've only see Kosmic do on SMB RTA runs.)
It's actually not that hard to do RTA. You just gotta hit the "walljump pixel", which is actually a 5 pixel range at the top of every block, and then you have a 0~2 frame window to jump depending on subpixels. If you just jump at the wall with random subpixels, you have a 2/5 chance of getting a 0 frame window, 2/5 chance of getting a 1 frame window, and 1/5 chance of getting a 2 frame window. In places where you need to do a walljump RTA, there's usually setups that ensure you get the 1 frame or 2 frame window.
@@dasmilekat5231, is there somewhere on the net that goes into how to do that type of jump in an RTA? Also, I guess what helps there also for an RTA is the fact that there's a hidden coin block over that pipe that one could jump over in an RTA (though it would be quite slow to pull off I'd imagine).

The second podoboo in the castle area is very high, so a slowdown was required to avoid it. If there is some way to make it lower, that can be avoided. Other than that, there are no possible timesaves that I know of.
