I was stationed at Swinderby 61-62 ,and the current aircraft then was Vampires for fast jet training .I then went on to RAF Gibraltar ,RAF Bassingbourn ,RAAF Edinburgh Field ,South Australia, and then RAF Straderfield and then used my RAF training to BEA and then British Airways , happy days
I was there. Adam was stunning singing this, as always!
i did not know they had done away with the eagles top of arms..............mind you, that was the 60's......................h6...................ukvet
I had my passing out parade there in 1972. Made good friends in the 6 weeks of training.
I was GUTTED to find out ‘Swinditz’ has been nuked 😡 the bloody ‘Jormans’ couldnt do it but 4 blokes in JCB’s could 😢 I was there in 1976! So where do they train now? Thats going back a bit......still carrying SLR’S😳
There in 75. 6 weeks of joy,
I was there
Like Nick my passing out parade took place in Febuary 1965 with no flypass no cups and certificates no band just us passing out then 5 days leave before trade training posting. Question why are some already junior tech rank in basic training i spotted a lac too some in jumpers not number one dress. and what's with the sunglasss i spotted ....don't tell me health and safety !!!!!!!😀
Awards meant nothing.
Six weeks of being run ragged.
See how gaunt and skinny they look.i joined in1983..
I was there in April 1989 what a great sixes weeks it was miss then days I was it 16 flight number 3 squ
My passing out parade took place in October 1964 and if I remember correctly there was no band, no fly pass, no awards just an enormous feeling of accomplishment and as well being in the company of some extremely capable chaps. Now I am 74 and living in Canada but will never forget this particular period of my life. Thanks to the internet I still keep in touch with a few of my fellow graduates from the university of RAF Swinderby. Per Ardua Ad Astra
This was the best 6 weeks of my life I was so proud of wat I had achieved
Chaps there is a Facebook group - you tell them your arrival and departure dates and share memories etc lots of photos... *** RAF Swinderby Arrival & Departure Dates ***

Anyone know Steve's email address looking to get a copy of this for my father in law who is from forres and was at the game
I passed out a week early at Swinderby (long story) so had to transfer flights during the last week. I wasn't issued with a bayonet in the new flight and had to request one just before the passing out parade. It was rusty as hell and I had no time to polish it, the guy inspecting the parade stopped in front of me (for a chat I thought) but he just stared long and hard at my bayonet, then at me, then at the officer with him and walked on. Made my day!
Oh how i miss my beloved Caley and the Highland League!!
+gg41r Caledonian FC - never forgotten, always in my heart
This has brought back dam good memories of my pass out parade. March 18 1992 it was. Chucked it down with rain and yet we were still out there on the parade ground. The band struck up Hawaii Five-O as it rained, much to the amusement of us in the parade and we had Chipmunks as our fly past.
@@kmckinlay8070 You were not my Sargent through Swinderby were you?
@@kmckinlay8070 I had to ask because my sargeant had the same surname you see.
This not only brought back memories for me from 1974 when I had my passing out parade at RAF Swinderby, but watching it actually had an emotional effect on me that I find it hard to explain. I left the RAF in 1995 after the best years of my life and would do it all over again if I could.
Thanks for posting this, I passed out from Swinderby in October 89 and seeing this brings back so many great memories ! and I just wish I still had my passing out video. Thanks Again
Rigger
I spent years of my childhood at RAF Kinloss. 1955/60. I loved it there and still go back occasionally. The Army has now taken over Kinloss. No more RAF. Sad. The Stables bar used to be my primary school.
July1966 I had my passing out parade.
And after all the best memories that it gave, it ended up as an industrial estate, and the billots is now a housing estate, sad days.
This brought back memories of my passing out parade in 1966. Nothing has changed except I seem to remember we held our rifles on our shoulders as we marched.
I was in the last flight of the parade that day. 19 flight I think it was and like you went off to trade training to RAF Halton straight after.
At 1.21 minutes that's me also nearest the camera behind the officers, I was right marker. After the parade it was a quick dash to the mess to meet parents and friends etc. have some food, get changed and then off to our trade training stations, I was the only one who ended up at RAF Catterick RAF Regt. but only for 3 months, remustered to Supply then off to RAF Hereford.
From 9.52 minutes, the chap I joined up with gets his award and eventually ended up at Wattisham where I was also stationed. He was from Clacton on sea.
At the 3.00 minute point, thats me at the front closest left.
That's me at 2.05 minutes first on the right at the front after the 2 officers. Flt Lt. Copeland was our Flt Commander and Sgt Kelk was the drill Sgt lol. At 8.52 minutes, the LAC far left was called Massey, cant recall his first name, he was in the same flight as me.
Great video, any idea's on how to get hold of a video of my pass out in jan 90. Had a copy but lent it to someone i'm not in touch with anymore.
Cmon You Can Can's!!!!!!
Congratulations from all at Irvine Meadow. All the best for the new season.
Love it....see top of the trophy falling down onto the pitch?
I went to Kinloss and did nearly 12 years there before coming out the RAF 10 years ago
What a season.....FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring on the 2012 highlights from today.................champions!!
Fantastic. And soon the 2012 version to follow, C'mon the Cans !
