We knew HSR ejection was a thing because of regulatory paper work before IFT-2, but now they’re doing it: after the boostback burn though, cause you can’t seperate it while the boosters thrusting obviously

okay, let's say youre right. what about Starship will still be reusable 5 years from the first operational mission, let's say flight 5 or 6?

@@fosstera if I were a betting man I'd say they won't even recover a starship in the next 5 years and be able to refly it cheaper than just being able to produce an expendable version (soon to be announced), but maybe that's just me. I'm hoping I'm wrong.

@@michaeljohn5175 The whole plan is reusable, that is what reduces the cost per flight. Perhaps they will have expendable ones for special purposes. That ring was not supposed to come loose -- needs more robust attachments. It is bult to be removable to give access to the grid-fin motors and such at the top of the booster.

1: the current ring is reusable, this is not something they actually do, but it is possible 2: it’s just “starship 2” not “v2” 3! there’s no way in hell the soyuz type ring is happening, the render guys must’ve just given up completely

@@AeonExploration Counter arguments: 1. This was actually given as a possibility from SpaceX, they might attempt this on future flights. 2. Why are you hating, does it matter the wording? Also, Elon actually has referred to them as this multiple times. 3. It actually is, the current ring doesn't give enough ventilation. The ring will be cross bars welded to the top of the booster. I'm not completely disregarding your comment (like you did to mine) but please, if you aren't an expert please don't hate on other's comments.
