I had a chance to meet these brothers in Chicago ,what a pleasure an honor to meet an hear the sounds of the Browns of North Carolina. What a blessing to hear, Ari tell his story of a auto accident an him returning to PLAYING the horn, au inspiring TRUE to his craft.

A real all-star lineup. When the very fine altoist Marty Erlich plays with Abrams, it doesn't fully register for me. When Roscoe Mitchell is there it completely works and feels definitive. The Experimental band goes back to the early 60s and was specifically placed in the Chicago Afro-USian community. This continued to define it, at least in Abrams' lifetime. A very true expression from a special community.

That might be Skye Steel on violin, in place of Charlie Burnham, I believe.

Just met Ari Brown and the quintet tonight! I have no words to describe what musical phenomenons they are! Most notable about Ari in particular was his graciousness! Never met him in my life, But what a genius gentleman and a scholar! Of course I can say that about all the other musicians, including his brother Kirk Brown! The entire world should have been there! What a better world it would be!

Man that drummer just sets it all off! Bringing excitement adding color and accentuating brilliance! Mark Turner has a different way of thinking and when I listen to him for awhile it always seems so beautiful. A true virtuoso! These guys are the new jazz! Absolutely Brilliant!
