This project is made of 1.5 pound foam density with a layer of high performance carved mortar on top. The mix has a 1 1/2 to 1 ratio, which means it's 1.5 parts sand, one part cement, 12 percent Trinic CarVZ, and water to taste. A hard coa...

Finishing / Painting the Fire Pit

RockSculptor's Vertical Concrete Workshop
Had to stop. The music was terrible. But thanks.
you created an amazing job
Would you mind telling me which roller that is you are using to create the first set of 'dimples'? Thank you.
Do know how much weight these can hold? I was thinking of making a couple of these for my front yard to put some planter on top of them. I am concerned that the styrofoam might degrade over time and make them collapse. Anyone have an opinion about this?
Great question! You have to apply the mud at least 2 inches for good strength. Putting AR glass fiber in the hard coat adds extra protection. You'll be able to do jumping jacks on it.
@@RockSculptor Thanks! 🙂
Could this be submerged in a pool?
Very nice I just don't have the patience anymore.looks real that's a good thing!
I have a big question please Iam an architect An i suppose to model some thing like that, i suppose to model a full height wall 5 meter in height and more than 10 meter in width and at some points depth like 2 meter 😢 How can i model it and how can i extract it into architecture drawing to the contractor
Hello! Let me gather the info correctly. Are you saying the depth of the rock wall feature is 2 meter thick??
Just curious, how strong are these? If pets jump on them or kids, will they break easily? This is an awesome video. Thank you for your work.
Thanks for the kind words! Very strong...even at the scracth coat level...a 300lb human could stand on it and not cause any stress fractures.
Fantástico
Thanks!
Outstanding technique ... short and to the point. Well done!
Thank you kindly!
Lovng this concept to make your own and not spend much money, plus it's fun. I am a interior designer and love challenges that are beautiful. I don't care for the music playing, anxiety!
Thanks!!
Wonderful!what do you mean when you say 50 pound of Portland cement?Do you mean 50 pounds of Type S mortar mix? Thanks in advance
Yes, Portland Cement, not mortar mix.
@@RockSculptor ok,Thanks. So there is no sand in the mix?
@josephhorvath810 Yes, there is sand in mix. Generally 1.5 parts sand to 1 part Cement ratio
@@RockSculptor thanks!
How long is the mix usable after it is mixed up? please let me know. Thanks very much!!
Wow that’s the best fake rock on the internet 👍
WOW!! Thank you kindly for that!
Seems an awful lot of work for a fake rock. I use large size polystyrene, cover top and sides with tile grout mixed with pva glue. While still soft i sprinkle builders sand on top and sides and leave to dry. Spray painted shades of grey and mouldy green they’ve sat in my garden over 2 years just fine. I also sometimes soak old fabric in pva glue and drape over plastic waste til i shape it rock like, paint when dry. I dont weatherproof them, they seem ok.
Can you make a video or post pics?
Love your videos and learned so much!!! I'm ready to take off the training wheels and go for it!!! LOL WHEN YOU SAID TRAINING WHEELS🤠🤠🤠.
Love it Warren, excellent presentation!!!😊😊😊
Отличная работа!!!
Потрясающий и интересный творческий клип!!! Работы у вас великолепные!!! Респект из России!
Great Design! Which particular Fire Pan do you recommend for your Stone Carved Fire Pits? Thanks!
Would this be suitable for outside? I want to make a large catio so that it resembles a lions lair .
Yes! All materials used are built for outdoor masonry:)
Greetings and Salutations I have a weaving technique that is what brought me here 😊
Wow/ Great job... Very talented guy obviously.
Curious to know if you did the inside of the planter with mix? I wasn't able to see over the top (and I even stood up trying! :). ) And if you did/do the inside, do you carve that into a design as well?
I go down about 12" inches down and texture and finish it out. The dirt will sit about 2 inches from the top so even the dirt receded, the raw foam will not show.
horrible video...what a waste of time...i wish u slow down and teach TEACHHHHHH how is done!
I could watch this 1,00000 times
Thanks a mill!
Styrofoam is expensive
NO BACKGROUND MUSIC... I had to MUTE this just to WATCH IT... but you did such a Beautiful Job... Love the ROCK... Not the Background NOISE/Music
Do you still use fibreglass strands? Or just matting?
Don’t know about that foam being heated is a good thing?
If this video doesn't get likes and the channel doesn't get subscribers, it's because of the music. Just voice over the instructions instead...
Thankyou!!
Good job though!
Music is annoying!
Wow that music sure sucks, can’t watch!too bad, it looked like a nice video otherwise.
Beautiful but…. Time consuming if need a # of stones👍
YES... but have you asked if someone else does it... it cost HUNDREDS of Dollars... each.
Great video.!! Even greater when I muted it.
Is there a shortage of boulders and rocks? Asking for a friend!
In some areas, there are:)
No, but there is a shortage of virtually weightless rocks and boulders. Heard from a friend.
Wish they were still doing these the link is dead :( Wilmington is actually close
THE ROCK LOOKS GREAT. THE IMPORTANT PART . TITLE SAYS FROM START TO FINISH. THE VIDEO STARTS WITH PUTTING ON THE FINISH COAT OF WHAT, MORTAR? NOT A THING ABOUT START AS IN FORM IT, WITH WHAT, HOW, A MORTAR, OR CONCRETE FINISH, ?? THE TITLE SHOULD SAY, WHAT A FAKE ROCK LOOKS LIKE, AT LEAST THIS ONE.
what brand is that AR glass scrim? I can't find it in amazon. Tks
Visit Trinic llc, they sell it
Forgot to ask but what is finished weight?
That is a really good question.. Did you ever get an answer?
This is so cool! Just subbed!
How much was to make this rock? tx
Great Question Have you got an answer yet...???
No but I went to Universal rock online and I got a full waterfall with a discount (holiday) for like $2k and free shipping@@judichristopher4604
Excellent sir 👍
Hi, pls gime a contact detail. I have some important questions. Thank you
oh my how i wish im artistic like you! but im definitely gonna try making this!
Well done!
Thanks!!
This is freaking bananas! You have certainly mastered this art my friend. Cheers.
that's a ROCK not a boulder just like the channel name. Boulders are frucken big compared
According to the Wentworth classification (1924) the lower limit of the boulder grain size is 25.6cm. A small boulder is 25.6-51.2cm, a medium boulder 51.2cm-102.4cm, a large boulder 102.4-204.8cm and a very large boulder is anything larger than that.
Great job!!
The music makes it unbearable.
I disagree
Sorry but i had to mute the backgrd music to watch. Perhaps a more soothing music wud be better.
agree
Kill the music and just voice over the text instructions.
