My fastest lap in qualifying. Good for... 41st position (out of 115 cars). It's easy to tell where I'm losing time: everywhere :-)

My first FunCup race! These things are indeed fun! Now all I have to do is learn how to drive them :-) Even though I was occasionally fastest on track (and occasionally... beyond), make no mistake, there are easily 2 seconds on each lap on the car. Still fun tip-toeing around though!
M3 drifting mixed conditions. Note the T-shirt! Sweating with all the work...

(Select the Settings in the bottom right and increase the video Quality. Pan around with your mouse to watch 360 degrees.) The "snow" tires in the car aren't particularly good in the snow, so the going is slow; but it still gets the side windows dirty :-)

(click Settings - bottom right - and select 4k resolution as Google defaults to 720ps) If you want to see where you're going, cleaning your side windows is a must! Circuit Ecuyers one lap in the wet. I am pretty sure "drifting in 3rd gear" was the first line in the Design Spec of the car :-) It fits the bill like few others! This is in Circuit Ecuyers on a drifting day.

Hi Yiannis! Nice to watch you racing at LeMans. I could almost hear michel legrand playing in the background.
So it's run anti-clockwise?
counter-clockwise. Yes. As it should, turning left! (place more distance between yourself and the accident :-))
Fantastic footage, thanks for sharing! You're living the dream getting to drive the full LM circuit, no matter whether it's a funcup or LMP1 that's pretty special!
thats dope bro 🥶
very nice video but if i was you i would prop up the camera in the middle of the passenger seat becasue when i wanted to look forward i would see just a beam. bust still very good video
Cool vid man, where was this?
Google: circuit ecuyers. A small track about 90’ east of Paris
Nice

Hai tutta la mia ammirazione e simpatia ma non credo si addica alla tua voce questa canzone che esige μια βροντερή φωνή
That was fantastic
Nice downshift / left foot brake into left hander,. I've never tried combining those two before
That’s a throwaway corner. I don’t think much about it. It’s the one before it, the right hand sweeper, where a lot of time is gained. Partial lift when you see the rumble strips at the entry (notice how I tapped my foot - telling myself “stick to the throttle” - then think “stay inside” and shoot for the last apex. The car drifts wide and if you do it just right it uses almost all the road. You have to be pitch perfect and on your toes. Work up to it!
Very smooth driving. Exciting to watch! I love Lime Rock. I actually was in a bicycle race one Mother’s Day. We rode counter clockwise, going up the hill instead of down. It started to rain in my race and the oil made it really slick. In the esses I could feel my tires slipping. Very nerve wracking, but I finished!
I had to work extra hard that day; my car would shut off whenever I hit the rumble strips on the exit of the downhill, so I had to lift there (normally on a perfect lap Spec Miatas are flat on the downhill) which made it hard to gap the others
Was that a bump at 13:45?
He locked up his brakes and sailed into me - it was accidental. As long as it’s on a straight line ira no big deal. He fell off after that as he seriously flatspotted his tires
Yiannis, I love your videos, but the video resolution makes them look like they are about 10 years old! Thank you for your posts.
Yes sorry I had to change my video system because the old one died and I still haven’t figured out how to create higher res videos from it. I have a 360 video which is the other extreme but hard to handle. Anyway, car sold, crashed, gone…
Keren
did you shoot this with a VHS camcorder and convert it to digital?
It’s with a brand new (but unbeknownst to me when I bought it, old format) 4 camera system that records VD4 format, which then needs to be converted to mp4. If anyone is an expert on ffmpeg please let me know, I’ve been fighting the parameters. The same video on GoPro’s site works better for some reason, so half the fault is Google’s
Yiannis, thanks for sharing this. You are a great driver, as your lap times and National Championship attest, and apart from that BONEHEAD Move in Turn 1, you drove a great race. But you gotta make friends in this class, and you are not going about it the right way. And I mean this sincerely as your friend. Not ALL gaps need to be taken, you gotta know when to back out of it, or you are going to continue to do this sort of thing.
Mea culpa.
When was the mistake? What’s minute? I’m new to the class coming from ITS and will like to learn as much as possible!! Thanks in advance!!
@@jjepracing5714 Yiannis sees an opportunity in T1. We are all in formation, braking for a two wide entry into T1. The top racers in the country, at the very limit, allowing for cold tires that are not up to operating pressure yet. All watching to the left and right, with situational awareness of what is happening on both sides. Yiannis thinks that he can outbrake two drivers, myself and Connor. He doesn't go to the brakes when we all do, tries to pass us on the inside and only eventually goes to the brakes when Connor starts his arc for the apex. At this point Yiannis goes to the brakes but it is about 150 yards too late, and he takes out the world champion in T1. And if not for fantastic recover by Connor and superb evasive driving by Todd Buras, this could have resulted in a pile up in front of 70 hard charging Miatas, which would have been a total disaster. Here is another view from my in-car camera - ua-cam.com/video/gqAS-rsPZI8/v-deo.html
@@dannysteyn ohh wow, thanks for explanation Danny!!

hey we have a place for you in forza, but you should prob stay off the real track until you learn the basics.
Yes

Great Race!!!

The NASCAR races are going to this race course this weekend and I’m looking forward to racing this weekend even though I’m not much into road course races. Is this race track city streets that become a race course? Or is this race course a closed race course like most NASCAR race tracks?
This is a closed circuit like other tracks that nascar races at. Nascar doesn’t race on any street circuits as of right now, although I think that’d be really cool to see
It’s going to be a great race this weekend at COTA!!! I can also tell you are a big Jimmie Johnson fan by the look of your profile picture! I’m a huge Jimmie Johnson fan too I have a ton of pictures from all 14 years I’ve been a race fan
Does it really look like city streets? wtf
I was just curious about this track before NASCAR had their race there as it’s a race course I’ve never heard of before but now I know it’s a closed course and NASCAR doesn’t race on a street circuit
No substitute for cubic inches
It's cubic dollars in racing :-)
Says the turbo'd 4cyl cobalt that pretty much smoked everyone
insightful and well done. Thank you.
awesome indeed!!!!
NASCAR is announcing a date here. That will be a shit show after watching this hahaha.
Why will NASCAR at COTA be a shitshow?
Do you mean the NASCAR that hires drivers just for one race, ie Watkins Glen? Hey, Boris Said, can you drive today, apparently this track has right turns.
@@alexanderwademd Eh, it really isn't that common, and the last 9 or 10 road course races have been won by NASCAR regulars like Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, and MTJ anyway, so guys hired for those specific races rarely win.
I guess my feet are too large. I just got a Miata and thought I was left foot braking, it turns out I was pushing on the clutch. I find left foot braking is rough on my car. I wonder if you've ever tried riding the brake and keeping the throttle on the floor in some places where you are getting off of the throttle. I used to do that during starts to keep the engine "on the pipe", it worked pretty well.
I haven't really practiced/timed that (staying on the throttle and controlling with the brake at the start). It's supposed ot make a big difference on turbocharged engines.
is there any reason behind a very small heel-toe into keyhole vs the very large heel-toe at the end of the straight?
Going down one gear vs two gears
Looks awesome It’s a very sunny track, though I like the courses that are set within forests and greenery
If by forest you mean "the Great Texas Forest" I think you may have an old copy of the atlas... The track prolly didn't have to cut down a single tree to be built. =(
Damn. I thought my 1:05 on semi-slicks was fast. Awesome lap.
And someone still beat me...
Spec Miata - the definition of cheating.
Cheap excuse. Swap cars and see if you win
@@utubeyt All the front runners in Miata cheat and you know it.
@@badgumby9544 You can't make blanket statements like that. There are thousands of Miatas and hundreds of races. Everyone who's ever at the front cheats? Run a randomized trial, pick 2 cars, race one, have a good SM driver race the other, then swap. See what happens. I've raced with the best drivers in SM and I can count in the fingers of one hand those who win because they cheat. I know them, almost everyone knows them, I don't respect them, I doubt the others do, and it's pointless anyway, as there's no money involved. The majority win because they drive well. Obviously if you go with an under-prepared car in a super competitive championship race you're going to get trampled, we don't race with our feet, we race cars. But preparedness (and knowing what and how to prepare it) is part of the experience and the challenge. It takes 10 weekends to know what corner weights, tire pressures, heat cycles, brake pads, etc to run for this track on these conditions to extract the last second
Nice ferrari 360

What tires are you on please sir?
Greg Stover spec Miata spec racing tire: Hoosier H2O. 2nd cycle on them. The difference you see is not the tires... I’m leaving a *lot* on the table (in SM I was 2nd, but *lapped* by the leader after he crashed and banged his hand and his car...)
Excellent work, way to keep calm and not smdisturb the balance of the vehicle.
" Don't hit the 400BHP Porsche " : Said the little mazda, Lmao! Good driving man !
Did you have fun?? Sunday?? That Sunday race was amazing to watch!
Olsinvest Gmail Sunday was good too but I finished 4th instead of 1st:-) It was more exciting to drive though.
Hey did you do the 13hour race in October of 2014 also? Shoot me a dm @CZPix for some pics
Were you there late April 2018? I followed a Gt40 for a little bit on Kanawake road on my moto.
Nice recovery. I'm not sure that's the best time to cycle your windshield wiper, though!
Mark A :-) Fingers flailing all over trying to catch it
now THIS is racing!
Awesome driving, but this is not the 90's anymore. Got to change those cameras.
Thanks! On the cameras, if they ain't broken I'm not fixing them :-) I kinda like NOT having to wait 1 hour to cut a video because of the HD quality. I have a 5th camera which is HD but don't use the videos from it that much.
Nice driving man. Super tidy lines have you tripping on the 400hp Porsche you almost ran over in turn 19 ;).
How did you mount the camera pointed at your feet?
Awesome! You are a Devil!
