LOL moles. They disappear even quicker than usual under your wood chip! They burrowed under my lawn last summer, No regular mole hills though....the "turf" was brown and worn thin and they burrowed beteween it and the soil and made a series of tent like tunnels...it ended up looking like a mass of huge raised veins.
