    • @stefansworld3351
      @stefansworld3351 Місяць тому

      It's adjusted by pumping out the brake pedal, but can also be adjusted inside the vehicle either under the rear bench or by nuts on the cable near the hand lever. It's normally about 5-6 clicks. On the early 900 & 99 models with the front wheels handbrake, it's about 8-9 clicks, but that's a much older design.

      The auto 'box was an option on all 900 models, whether it be the 8 or 16v turbo or injection, or carburettor models. Pretty ancient design, 3 speed slushbox. Quite short geared, so only average at high speed cruising. Not great in the 900, as engine noise in the cabin is quite intrusive on all models.

    • @stefansworld3351
      @stefansworld3351 6 місяців тому

      It's faster than many I've driven. Minimal turbo lag and it holds boost higher in the rev range. I've removed the cat, more free flowing silencers, higher flow stainless steel fine mesh air filter. It was an LPT, but it's now got the full blown turbo gearbox, longer geared, faster 0-60 time as you don't have to shift to 3rd to get to 60. No APC , but a bleed valve fitted along with many hours of fine tuning the actuator rod to get the perfect balance of high boost, no lag. I'm actually running less boost than I used to, as the gearboxes don't like repeat hard driving with high boost, so it's not as fast as it was. Nothing fancy. I estimate it at 200bhp. It must be, because it'll go straight off the clock. The speedo needle just presses against the trip reset button, so the top speed is around 155mph (249km/h). It does still pick up, but I always run out of road.

    • @wideopen125

      @wideopen125 Yes. It's the Mitsubishi unit found on 900 models, LPT and HPT fitted after 1990. Smaller physical size compared to the Garrett, but less lag, more reliable and seems to hold boost better.

      The only thing that let the 99 turbo down was the non power assisted steering especially because l had wider tyres on. The 2 l had were the boot /sedan 2 door which l prefer loved the stumpy boot especially when viewed from. Behind low slung looked really purposeful. The 900 turbo was obviously a more refined car but l loved the rough and ready non nonsense 99 turbo l had to sell the second one which l used to see on a regular basis l made a mistake but l needed the money. Where l worked we had a local Saab dealer Woolford motors in Tottington . There was also a new fancy dealer in Manchester. I went one day for a part l needed when l pulled up there was a red haired guy stood outside who l vaguely recognized l nodded at him and he said hello which people as you know always did when you had a Saab .when l came out he was walking around my car and admiring it then it came to me who he was he was one of the presenters of "tomorrows world" cannot remember his name he had a fantastic looking 900 turbo 16v aero with all the body kit on but was totally blown away by my red devil!!! @catfish828 I have a brochure from Woolfold Saab dealership for a 99. I've had it since I was about 12 years old! We used to trade with Saab Manchester back in the day. I found that the 99 handled better than the 900 due to the shorter wheelbase and overhangs. I had a 1980 99GL 4 speed which I managed 120 out of it on a long run down the M61. It had a strong engine that had been rebuilt at some point before I owned it. I paid £40 for it back in 1999 and ran it for 18 months. Those were the days 😁

    Always Loved the 99/900, back in the day owned a dowdy 99 4-door and then an '85 2-door 900i (8-valve, mechanical injection), an unusual version that seemed to be almost stripped-out (electric nothing at all) and was quite light as a result, with the grunty 8-valve actually pretty quick for a non-turbo. It was white, minilite (style) wheels, boot spoiler and I actually came to prefer its looks to the 3-door. Yours seems to be pretty hairy, but have you ever considered an equal-length header? I know they lose the idle/low-RPM burble that distinguishes the engines, but I hear they reduce turbo lag (and sound better at high RPM).

    Очень топовая машина, жаль, что эта модель не приехала в Бразилию. Автомобиль с самой высокой мощностью в Бразилии имел двигатель 2,4, 16 клапанов. Он даже не справляется с этим двигателем Ochen' topovaya mashina, zhal', chto eta model' ne priyekhala v Braziliyu. Hi there. Thanks for the video. I've a Saab 9-3 Viggen and have a reoccurring clunk from the passenger side front when going over uneven surfaces. I've replaced shocks and top suspension mounts and suspension arms, but it still remains. The car has a Viggen Rescue Kit subframe brace at the bottom of the engine and I'm thinking it could be the engine mounts sagging and the front exhaust pipe (or other engine part) making contact with the subframe brace. What do you think? Cheers.

      My exhaust downpipe near the sump runs close to the subframe brace, so I'd say check that first 👍🏽

      @@user-px8hv8jw8tI work at and partially manage the garage, owned by my father. I wouldn't recommend bringing your car during the working week, as he'll just rinse you and have the car for much longer than necessary. I don't receive any kind of bonus or commission for bringing work to the business. We charge £75/hr labour +vat, so any repairs needed, I'd do in my own time, at the workshop at the weekend, for a much more reasonable price. Being a few miles away, I'm not sure how that'd work.

    Awsome video thanks very clearly explained and shot. I may attempt this as I have just bought my first SAAB. It's making a right scrunching. / creaking noise from the front when going over speedbumps. I dont think its engine mounts but may be worth trying to do this, that said I only have a jack and set of axel stands so might be a bit difficult without a ramp. Anyway great video man im gonna look at your other SAAB videos.

      Thanks for watching! It sounds like you have suspension related issues. The noise could be caused by the inner front anti roll bar 'D' bushes which can creak when going over speed bumps. There'll not be any play in them. They just dry out causing the noise. Mine do the same sometimes. Polyurethane items as a replacement would solve it 👌
