For me its a matter of how you interpret the basics. My trench coat is a brown leather suede. My white shirt is a tuxedo shirt. I have ruffles as well as one with pleats. As well as different colors. The fabric can also make it feel different. If a shirt is in silk, satin or velvet for example...Blazers or moto jackets in velvet or brocade. Its all about the cut, the fabric and the color...patterns are also particular to a style, but not exclusive. Romantics love florals and pastels, bohemians like paisley and abstract patterns. Classics prefer stripes and polka dots.

Quick question... Are you using the style terms romantic and feminine interchangeably? Or does feminine describe a specific clothing item whereas romantic describes that style type?

There is no point in being selectively angry. So you don’t believe in buying fake bags, a purchase is a purchase, regardless of the intention. Do you have any specific recommendations for brands of "dressy leggings"?

I grew up in Italy in the 70s. I don't like leather, I much prefer suede, more elegant and chic imo, although delicate and easily stained. I'm on the look-out for a taupe short collared jacket in suede like my grandma used to wear. I live in London and when I moved here in the 80s it surprised me how little suede there is in fashion, and it's still the case. I find leather a bit too edgy but it also has vulgar and even sexual associations, for example the way it is associated with S&M. I love suede bags, belts and shoes, I think they're so classy and I buy them whenever I can.

I don’t know why it is full but full flouncy skirts are like cat nip to us pears, however I do agree the fitted skirts slim us down.

I tend towards minimalism in that I like clean silhouettes that are comfortable. I also like some color in my wardrobe and interesting accessories.

I understand now why I can never pull off a black leather jacket! I'm going to try that type of beautiful pink soft leather 😊

This series has been so helpful! I feel like I'm really learning about these style types. I'm thinking about my own black leather jacket that I've had for almost a decade. It's extremely soft kid skin leather and shaped more like a blazer. I can see that it falls in both the minimal and classic types. I love it so much. I wish I could get more use out of it but I've lost so much weight that it's way too oversized. The only way it works is in late fall or early Spring over a bulky sweater. At least now I know what to look for in a smaller size.

Loved this video. I’m basically a minimalist with touches of boho (flowy but streamlined , no fussy fringe or busy prints) and sporty (sneakers and sporty bottoms). I’ll add some interest with accessories and color.

I have to say something here. I have only been able to afford so called fast fashion my whole life, but with careful selection and even more careful washing and handling, I have a closet of sometimes garments that are 30 -40 years old. I can shop my closet for any era 😂😂😂

all the dresses u have recommended r not comfortable. breathing in them is impossible and so is sitting in them. while drew has worn clothes to sit easily and run around easily in. can u please compare apples to apples.

I really felt a sense of relief 😅 when you demonstrated that not all capsule wardrobes are created equal but should be tailored to your personal style. My style is predominantly classic and minimal but there are elements and accessories that can fall into trendy, androgynous, edgy, vintage, and even bohemian style. These are pieces that I love and wear in a predominantly classic elegant style. I’m glad I didn’t throw everything out and start from scratch with someone else’s capsule list. The capsule wardrobe guidelines are great for identifying pieces or basics that might be missing from my wardrobe that I will then purchase in my style, which is simply what I love and what makes me feel great. Thank you for an in depth video with examples of precisely that. 😊

I have watched so many body shaped videos through the years. Before I had children, I took all the measurements and it was obvious I was an hour glass. Considering it's only 8% of women, it was hard to believe even back then. Finding clothes that fit has always been a struggle. After having 3 children and Perimenopause now I have more weight around my midsection. My abdominal muscles are slack. But my bust is also even larger. I've been trying to figure out did I become an apple or a rectangle or maybe I'm still just an overweight hour glass? It's so confusing. After listening to your video and looking at the photos, I think I'm just an overweight hour glass LOL. When I lose weight, it's always from my tummy first. Thank you for this

I’m an hourglass with small bust (neat/bottom hourglass), my measurements: shoulders-bust-waist-hips: 37-33-25-37, I’m 5’3”. Wearing jeans is a real challenge, they’re too big on the waist and either fit nicely or too tight on hips. High waist/mid rise bootcut/flared/wide leg pants are perfect! For dresses I prefer bodycon/circle/A-line midi dresses sometimes wearing with belt. Love peplum, sometimes crop tops, waistcoats. I tend to avoid balloon/puff/cap sleeves

I like that you encourage people to customize and personalize their capsule wardrobe - there are so many lookalike capsule wardrobe videos - too many to count - and as you point out, one capsule wardrobe doesn't fit all!

I'm surprised you didn't show embroidered peasant tops and Indian cotton print dresses -- both very boho. Nice video though. You nailed some of the essential elements of the style.

I'm really loving this series! I've been confused about my style type. Now I see that I have been trying to mix a couple of styles LOL Plus I wasn't really sure what the names of all the types meant. I had already eliminated some such as boho and edgy. Also what's so tough is that what I love in my heart doesn't look good on my body. That makes shopping a challenge because you constantly have to say no to the things you like and choose what actually flatters you. Every once in a while, a piece will be both. But that's rare with unusual proportions such as large chest, short waist, Long legs, wide hips, and slender limbs LOL.

If I tuck my shirt in , My lower belly bulges. How to avoid it ? I'm curvy , petite , short woman.

Leggings are a no no for me, too casual, also baseball caps and elasticated waists

Your crew neck sweater/jumper would be a little more flattering if the neckline was not so tight around your neck, I always watch out for this in t-shirts too, I think the clavicle is a beautiful part of a woman's body so I like showing it a little

I've just bought a great white slouchy t-shirt from M&S in the UK that is so flattering and has made my wardrobe a little bit more current: it's just £9.50 and it's their soft white everyday t-shirt, I'm 58 and the neckline and sleeves are so flattering, sleeves slightly longer than Erica's t-shirt and not as clingy so they don't highlight flabby upper arms. I absolutely love it

5:57 on this photo she looks much more like an apple shape (and like the ladies in your apple shape styling videos) than a hourglass.

The hair can also be classic, boho, etc. Alexa Chung's middle parting reminds me of growing up in the 70s in Italy, every girl had it. Middle parting is very popular now among young girls who wouldn't be seen dead with a side parting, but I remember it the first time round and it really says vintage to me.

Unfortunately, I can't afford my style. I have really nice older clothes and try to piece that together with things from H&M, Walmart and thrift stores. It is a challenge. I also live in the middle of nowhere, so 95% of my shopping is done on-line. I do buy better pieces when I can.

Wow! You explained these style types pretty well! I realized that I’m all over the place. Classic, feminine, mostly minimal (but I like colors), with a sprinkle of boho sometimes in the summer.

I hate it when the so called correct outfit is shown on a slimmer person who isn't really a apple shape. 🙄
