The Euphonium Director Channel is here to promote, share and discuss any and all things home theater and DIY/Fixit. Home theater being the main passion here, but euphonium clips (after all I am a band director) will also be posted as well as simple DIY and home fixit projects. My hope is that the content I share is informative, entertaining and helpful to all viewers.
Refreshing Surround Speakers!
I decided to refresh my surround speaker enclosures that I built about a year and a half ago. The weren't sealed properly and now that I have begun woodworking I have the tools to properly fix them!

I acquired 6 more speakers for my system at a great price! I can now create a second setup in my theater room to run an Auro3D setup as well as ATMOS! Pretty excited! I also recalibrate my system and it came alive! Lastly, I got to stop by the Goonzquad garage on my way back from picking up the speakers. Finally found a pair of in ceiling speakers to match my original Polk AB755's and the rest of my system! No longer do we have just 2 speakers in the ceiling. True ATMOS baby! We also reconfigure the space with new theater seating, move the riser forward, and place the side surrounds in a better location. In doing so I decided to build speaker enclosures for the side surrounds that take them fro...

We was pretty bad assed lol ❤
So smart babe keep it up me and your family are so proud #wap
Do you regret not adding any insulation into the riser? I finished my riser frame today and now need to decide if I need to add insulation. I don’t expect to have a crazy loud sound system installed, however, I’ve never done a project like this. What are your thoughts?
@hospitaladministrator3359 I honestly don't think that it needed any. Maybe if I used it as a bass trap, but it's closed up and I haven't had any issues.
@@EuphoniumDirector Great. Thanks man. Appreciate your response
Have you ever built a marching band speaker cart ? We love the look and design of your mixer cart!
that is the messiest cabling i have ever seen
I wouldn't say the messiest ever, but it definitely didn't turn out like I had hoped. Since then, I now have a 42U cabinet, and the cabling is 100 times better. I will post a video soon.
As a now junior seeing this performance, it was a lot better than I initially percieved myself. I love reflecting on the 2021 season since it was my first time in the program. I think this show was awesome and i loved every second i got to perform it. I am grateful that i got to spend my time in band working up this show. Thank you for everything you did for us from aiden
What a talent. Congratulations. I can't wait to learn it myself. What's the difference between euphonium, tuba and the one that goes around your body(which idk its name) in terms of sound and range?
As an MCHS band alumnus, I'm proud of all of you. Keep up the hard work. And to the batterie, take care of my tenors ❤😂
just watched this two years later, I remember it so well. Every part of it
OMG. IM LITERALLLY OBSESSED WITH THE WAY THE VERY END SOUNDS. DO YK WHERE ITS FROM???
We need a video on them jalapeño poppers! 😊
What's that screen size? And which projector do you use?
Currently I have a 143 inch diagonal 2.34:1 screen. My projector is an Epson HC3200, but I would like to upgrade to the Epson LS 120000.

I think you should go to the Australian wilderness and wait for the spiders to take over
2023 I think
How often do you spend in here? If it's more than 20 hours a week how's the noise floor 🤔
An Auro 3D setup works great for Atmos as well. As long as you set up for rear heights instead of surround heights. An Auro3D setup also has the benefit of being more compatible with DTS:X as well.
Buy some drawer slides next time that way you can pull the shelf in or out when you need to work on it!!
MR MCGEEEEEE 😘
Triple black velvet is what you want. Build a frame that goes across your ceiling and down the walls and cover it with velvet fabric. It will look pitch black during movies with absolutely no light reflections.
Definitely looks great now! As I continue to build my theater I make one mistake after another and end up redoing and changing things. It's just part of the process. Looks like you have things well under control now.
You have your receiver behind the screen?
The receiver behind the screen is powering a subwoofer. My sub's plate amp went out, so since I had that receiver laying around and it has a 5.1 input that bypasses the internal processing I decided to use it to power the sub. It does a pretty good job actually.
@@EuphoniumDirector Are you considering getting a Surge/Power conditioner to plug in all your devices?
Yeah for sure. Currently I just have a beefy surge protector. I plan on getting a power conditioner though.
Everybody uses terms like "true Atmos" or "full Atmos" when those terms barely have any meaning. With two speakers on your ceiling, you DID have true Atmos. Adding two more speakers is simply increasing the spatial resolution. Nothing more. If you had upgraded from reflection speakers to actual ceiling speakers, then yes, I would consider that an upgrade from "semi-Atmos" to "true Atmos". But simply going from 2 ceiling speakers to 4 is just an incremental upgrade when Atmos can do as many as 10 ceiling speakers. Thats why the use of the term "full Atmos" bugs me too. A lot of people say "I have a FULL 7.1.4 Atmos system". No. A full Atmos system is 24.1.10. That requires a Trinnov or some daisy chained Lyngforf MP-60s. I dont mean to be a negative nancy. Seriously congrats on your upgrade. I'm getting ready to do mine up to 7.4.6. I just keep hearing these terms being used and it makes me wonder if people really understand Atmos.
Significant improvement !! Looking awesome
The edges look so much cleaner, Good job!!
Have you tried one of your old towers as the center channel? A lot of HT designers spec three identical speakers as the LCR instead of having a dedicated center when you are running an acoustic transparent screen. You have space since the screen is in front of your speakers. I just found your channel, keep up the good content!
Yeah, I plan to do that to see if the off axis response is better. It's pretty good seat to seat right now. I just really like that center channel and have been looking for it for years. I will give it a try though.
Little half inch wood frame around speakers to give finished look.
I never seen a Polk speaker that huge before wow
Yeah, it is a beast of a center channel speaker!
You can never go wrong with Polk audio they will last forever. There my favourite speaker brand and always well be
Do you have plans available for this?!
I love your vids!
Thanks Kai!
Hi 1st and how did you make the intro?

Yeah I am glad I went back and fixed that!
Love your vids fr
Thanks so much!
this is going to be the greatest bedroom suite of All Time
Thank you!
A family affair. That’s great. How tall is your ceiling and riser?
Got to enlist help sometimes! My riser is 18 inches, and my ceiling unfortunately is only 7 feet 8 inches. The main reason for the riser height is so that the second row can see clearly over the heads of the first row.
@@EuphoniumDirector Thanks for replying. I understand the reason for riser height. I was just curious about the ceiling height because you seem like a very tall person and I’m also trying to get a sense of how high I can make mines when I’m ready. I have a decent size space but unfortunately only an eight foot ceiling in my basement because it’s an older home. The 8ft is just to the floor joist without any framing and drywall.
@P F well I wish I was tall. Just 5'9" here lol.
@@EuphoniumDirector 😂 I guess you just look tall in the video then. 😊
277 sub
Will you be painting the inside?
Hopefully sometime this coming Spring, but knowing me it probably won't happen until marching band starts back up!
I love the way it turned out
If I needed a sound cart I would build one because I like to build things and you taught me how to build one.
I like that you are recycling parts from other projects or things laying around unused!
Me too and I like how much wood he has stored for the future projects
Nice job. Did you consider making it a bass trap? (Sorry - I may have missed if you mentioned in your early design phase, I picked your series up in part 4.) Just adding some insulation inside and cutting some vents (with hvac registers) may be worthy additions - with your 'floating' design, you could still flip it over and add these elements fairly easily and relatively inexpensively. I'm very much a rookie in the acoustics side of things, but I got some advice to incorporate these in my own risers I'm about to embark upon.
Yeah I did consider making it a bass trap and probably will in the future. I have quite a few acoustic treatments to do to the room. I decided to tackle those seperately at a later date and enjoy the theater for a bit now.
@@EuphoniumDirectorhow’s the sound currently? Sorry, I asked this question elsewhere too.
That's amazing that you're a fan of Polk audio. I'm a fan myself of there products. Right now I'm running a 5.2 but when I get my own space I'm going to do a 7.2.4
Yeah I really like these speakers. They are old, but they get the job done. I actually just found some more in wall Polks that match my others so I upgraded to a 9.2.4. Really happy with it!
@@EuphoniumDirector I wish I can go that high in configuration but my room can only do a 7.2.2 or 7.2.4. But right now my configuration is a 5.2.2 so either way it will definitely be an improvement for my space.

𝔚 Band
Just came back from Indianapolis 2022 from our show "Making Waves." I love looking back at this to see where it all started for me as part of the marching band. It makes me very proud to see the work we all put in for a wonderful performance at the end of the season. Can't wait for 2023's show!
Question... Did U Use 😳 Inputs Game Or 8k Port, on Back of Denon AVRX6700H???? For Your Gaming Console????
I used the game input because I have a PS4 and an Xbox One X and neither are capable of 4K at 120hz or 8K at 60hz. My son has a PS5, but I haven't tried it in my setup yet.
Trying to decide on the Denon x6700h or x4800h etc.I don't want to spend more than $3400 .I currently have a 5.2.4 setup . Any receiver recommendations my setup is power hungry especially my paradigm 90p monitor towers
@@lexhtfdct7230 I would say it really comes down to how many channels you want to add to your setup. With the 6700H you will gain 4 channels, but only 2 with the 4800H. If you just want to add 2 more channels I would definitely go with the 4800H. It has Dirac built in along with 4 independent subwoofer outputs. This takes away the need for a mini DSP to send the sound to 4 subs. Also, they included Auro3D with the 4800H and all inputs on the back accept 8K. Lastly, you are going to save yourself a good bit of money that you could put into purchasing an amp for those two extra channels of built in processing that have no amplification.
@@EuphoniumDirector I have 4 heights
@@lexhtfdct7230 with the 4800H you could add either top middle, front wides, or surround back speakers. If you get the 6700H you can two of those three. I currently have a 9.4.4 setup with front wides, back surround and top/rear speakers.
Love your content so far, but the music is so much louder than your voice! I have to keep turning the volume up and down depending on what scene is on
Thanks for the comment! Yeah I am going to work on the audio for the videos I have in the queue!
9:19 that's what my wife tells me all the time
This turned out great. I have two follow up questions if you don't mind. How long did it take you to do this from start to finish? I've seen people make risers a couple different ways, if you had to build another one, would you still do a truss system as the frame? Great job really inspiring! Thanks!
Thanks for the compliment! It took me about 3 weeks to complete as I was working on it when I had free time. Since my riser is free standing and 18 inches tall I do think the trusses were the way to go. If it was built in I would probably do more of a floor joist design. I am sure that if I did it again I would find small things here and there to do better and refine.
