I appreciate you! Thanks for watching :) I absolutely love inpatient and outpatient medicine and my patients in both settings. For me personally, I felt that the administrative burdens of outpatient medicine would burn me out so I chose to pursue inpatient for now. I still precept my residents in outpatient medicine on my weeks of so that I can stay updated in outpatient medicine. I felt that this was the best balance for me personally! The lifestyle aspect of inpatient medicine was a huge draw- I love to travel and do other things and inpatient medicine allowed me to pursue that during my 7 days off. It was definitely a tough choice though because from a strictly medicine perspective- I love both.

I haven’t transitioned to being a helicopter medic! I actually had the opportunity to do a ride along with incredible individuals that are helicopter nurses at our hospital. :)

Hey! I definitely think it’s worth it. It’s been extremely fulfilling and there’s SO MUCH you can do with family medicine. You definitely CAN do fellowship after residency if you wish. The fellowship options are different from internal medicine and include fields like emergency medicine, geriatrics, palliative, sports medicine, etc. family medicine covers everything ranging from pediatrics to OB/gyn to adults to geriatrics whereas internal medicine focuses only on adults and geriatric medicine.

It depends on who you speak to. Family medicine is definitely preferred by those that are interested in the broad spectrum. Also salaries really vary so I can’t say that we’re necessarily underpaid. At the end of the day, do whatever makes you happy and whatever you are passionate about!

The training is not the same. There is quite a bit difference in the training actually. Internal medicine does NOT provide training in pediatrics or obstetrics. Internal medicine is ONLY focused on adult care whereas family medicine covers pediatrics/obstetrics/adults. It's quite a big difference actually. If you do NOT wish to have training in pediatrics and obstetrics, then internal medicine is perhaps a better fit.

Yes- internal medicine def can earn money through moonlighting depending on what their residency program policies are! I’m not entirely sure what you mean by time limit?

@@ZeelShahMD time limit means Apart from 80 hours to be spent on residency per year How much time can we work for moonlighting I am asking that mam😊😊

@krishnendumandal2024 - I see what you mean! I believe you’re still bound to the 80 hour rule in total IF your program allows you to moonlight in the first place.
