Rest In Heaven Coach AL Appreciate You and Everything You could teach Me About The Game. Baltimore City x NYC
NYC POINT GOD
What up Glenn. Salute to you and all your works and efforts in bringing us GREAT content. We the viewers are fortunate to have someone like yourself from NY who is so passionate about the past, present and future of New York City basketball. May you continue to be blessed in all your life endeavors! This jewel of a video was incredibly more than I expected, word! I don't know where to begin....... this might be a long comment. So much I would like to say and share about hoopin’ with Cave. I played in a lot of tournaments throughout Queens and Brooklyn with Cave and other guests you have interviewed or have been mentioned. Goin’ back as shorties in Public School PS 156 me PS 37 Cave, in Junior High 231 and in High School. Cave, if you happen to read this my dude, words can’t describe how proud I am of you man! THAT'S MY WORD. I know for a fact, in my heart of hearts your story touched MANY as they watched this video. You let us in your very private space of a time in your life when you didn't make the best decisions. Hooper to hustler. Boogie on 'em to baggin up. Convicted felon (my choice of words is with the UPMOST RESPECT my dude) to self-converted mentor, leader, inspirator, motivator, businessman and CEO. "This is medicine for me, sometimes you gotta talk about it". That takes courage and a willingness to be vulnerable, open honest and true, especially on a platform like this. Unlike some of the other cats who you interviewed who were straight up and down lying to your face Glenn. Frontin’ on being someone they were not and being out their mind disrespectful. I digress as this is about my man Cave. You are living prove that success is what you make it and life doesn’t stop for a black man who’s been incarcerated. My first run-in with Cave on the ball court was when we played against each other in Public School. PS 156 vs PS 37 at his home court in Springfield Gardens Queens. We won of course! We both played very good as at that time we were the best on our teams. Little shorties who were nice AND knew how to play the game. We met up again at the Bello and IS231. Now running together with the LEGENDARY and sometimes crazy Coach Craig “Kat-Ice” Keys, what up Coach! 80Park and Christ The King (South Conduit and New York Blvd, Guy R Brewer now) with the likes of Dave Edwards RIP B. Walker, Stephen Taylor Richard Trice and other cats I can’t remember at the time. Like Cave said, “Kat would take the “first five” who got to where he told us to meet him……packs us in the car he had the time and off to the tournament he put us in. The best part for me running with Cave was when we played at the Legendary IS8 in South Side Jamaica Queens for the Christmas and easter Tournament from 1983-1989. The best of the best from biddies midgets juniors and seniors. Shaheen Holloway, DeShawn Holloway, Rafer Alston, Steve Frasier, Lil Jason can’t remember his last name, and of course my man Wes! B Aybar, Lil B Brantley, Sha Boogie aka Pacman, “Woodstock” What up Craig. Greg Smith Greg Scott Marvin Crumpton Big Zeus ICE BOX Alvin Rich Dave Dolton Darrick Dolton Taron Kasiem Jenkins, Charlie Brown, Dyloo, Boo Harvey, Ron Edwards, Dave Edwards Jr and his pops Dave Sr. Wingo Lamar Oden Kev Young Dave with the missing teeth and the two kids who to be with him all the time. Pete Edwards, Herb, Dave McClary Bimmi Maurice (Big Mo) Johnson Craig Pendergrass Howie Hudson True and BJ Carter. The cool 103rd Precinct cops who were cool and ran the tournaments. The list goes on and on. My bad to anyone I forgot. Big Apple at August Martin. SNIFF at Baisley Projects. Practice at 80Park and CTK. Kat running us to death til we nearly threw up. I remember me and Cave riding our bikes from the Bello to CTK for my first practice. I was a little shook because Cave told me yo W this dude is ill. He’s gonna fuss and cuss and yell like a mad man but don’t take nothing he says personal he’s only tryin to get the best out of you. AND that he did. How else can you win almost every tournament with JUST FIVE players, HARD PRACTICES and FULL COURT PRESS ALL GAME…. Kat would get crazy heated at us if we didn’t get a steal or have the other team turn the ball over. And don’t let them break the press AND score. We wouldn’t even look in his direction cuz we knew…..he would scream out, GIVE ME A F%$# time out ref!!!!! No lie. In the time out, he’s barkin’ on ALL OF US, lol. Larry Cave, and Mr. K*#@$ton, if you let your man get by one more time, Im gonna break your necks lol. But what made Kat so cool and fun to play for was at the end of every tirade timeout he would say let’s get these bums outta here please and go SHOW TIME. Show Time was when we were up by like 20 -25 and he would let us go into our bag and boogie on cats. The best part about that was since we were up, teams had to now press us to TRY to get back in the game. We all had our moments of giving cats the business BUT nothing like Dave Edwards. There were times where we would give up our “boogie on em” to Dave so we could watch in amazement of how CRAZY nice he was at handling the basketball. Keep in mind that we are all shorties. Dave, B Walker myself and Cave 9 10 11 years old but Dave was different with the rock. His handle was crazy AT THAT AGE no lie. B Walker did his thing outside and inside as he was one of our taller players. Me and Cave were on the wings waiting for Dave to pass one of us the rock so we could skate on our defender, and finish or dish to B down low. So many great memories and so much more I could say. So happy for you man. You are the example our young brothers and sisters need to listen to and follow. Keep up the great works. To God Be the Glory For ALL HIS Blessings!!! Queens Get The Money!!! Rock rock on!!!
@@Believer7154 wow, I’m very humbled by this and so do appreciate your kind words. Thank you 🙏
@@NYCBasketballhistory No doubt man! You're very welcome. It's only fitting to pay homage and give props to cats like yourself whose time and effort are used for the good or better of someone else. Your works speak to that! Some of these cats on here (UA-cam) are straight up wack!!! Their interviews are for the birds and are corny. But in today's world, all you need is a camera, some light and a microphone and BOOM you in there, PLEASE! Side bar: You comin through for Bello Day on the 18th? Rock rock on!!!
Also watched you and Ernie Grunfeld go head to head at St John's. Epic battle

Wish there was more talk about Ernie Douse. Just hearing his name mentioned in this discussion just confirmed he was truly one of the best that came out of NYC. Great interview.

If it weren't for injuries Penny would of been the Goat of all point guards he was long, athletic, quick, could do it all Penny was the absolute truth and before injuries Penny was the second best player in NBA history behind MJ,Kobe couldn't touch him if we being honest Penny could do it all and if he wanted to score he could do it at will and with ease he was cold blooded.
He fouled him
That Was A Foul!! ✌🏾😂

Carlton Paco Screen!!! What ever happened to him? There was another dope point guard around the same time his name was Tony DaCosta. I can’t remember what Catholic School he went to. I think his nickname was Magic. I believe he went on to the University of Texas.
I remember Derrick at Holy Cross. He was a man among boys. I played (sat the bench) for rival St. Francis Prep.
I’m a St. John’s fan but Boo should have gone somewhere where he could go off. They shackled him.
Man, I’m 55 and I remember that Jackson backcourt of Boo Harvey and Ron Edwards. Legendary. Boo Harvey was unstoppable.
I see you "TT", #31, I miss all of you ❤
Very nice interview with Jason Frazer(Who was nice, But injuries hampered his development at Villanova), @SportStem, Stewart Granger played for Nazareth HS in Brooklyn during the late 70’s, I was waiting For Jason Frazer to build on the in-famous Game that Lebron James played in at IS8 against Curtis Sumptner, Jason Frazer, Charlie Villanueva, Etc, in 2002(Pete Edwards Told me about the game years ago, Though, I wanted to hear Jason Frazer build on playing against Lebron James at IS8, Glenn, When did you have Kenny Charles on your show(Kenny Charles from Brownsville, Who is very good friends with Fly Williams, Ray Haskins, World B.Free, Jocko/Rip). And, Kenny Charles played in the NBA for the Buffalo Braves and Atlanta Hawks during the Early to late 70’s,
SELTON JONES,,,THE AMITYVILLE HORROR
I’m looking for him
🔥🔥🔥
NYC basketball should be about WINNING not highlights. Highlights are a byproduct not the product.
I lived in Amityville for twelve years in still have tons of family who lived there as a matter of fact they live a few blocks from Mack Park, where they had a crazy game a few days ago, Jason has always been a class act in reps A,Ville to the fullest.
