We found this SECRET WONDERLAND: Waterfalls, Floating Islands and an EPIC HIKE
Experience the raw beauty of Bohol in this unforgettable journey through lush hills, vibrant rice terraces, and hidden waterfalls. We take you from the roaring Can-umantad Falls to Mabini Lake Campsite’s tranquil waters, capturing the essence of eco-tourism and unspoiled nature. Along the way, marvel at the wildlife, breathtaking views, and the simple joys of rural life.
Welcome to another epic adventure on *Travel with Roland*! In this vlog, we’re diving deep into the wonders of Bohol, Philippines, where hidden gems await at every turn. From towering waterfalls and lush rice terraces to serene campsites and breathtaking panoramic parks, this journey is a must-watch for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone looking to discover the unspoiled beauty of the Philippines.
#Discover Bohol’s Natural Wonders
#Can-umantad Falls: The Tallest Waterfall in Bohol
Our adventure begins with a thrilling ride to Can-umantad Falls, a 60-meter-tall marvel and the tallest waterfall in Bohol. Getting there is half the fun! The narrow concrete road takes us through vibrant rice paddies, where one wrong move could land us in the fields instead of at our destination. But the journey is worth every bumpy twist and turn.
As we approach, the sound of cascading water grows louder, building anticipation. Finally, we’re greeted by the powerful sight of the falls. Mist fills the air, and the roaring sound is both deafening and awe-inspiring. The rice terraces surrounding the falls add a magical touch, reminding us why Bohol is often described as a paradise. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just someone looking for a refreshing escape, Can-umantad Falls is a must-visit destination.
#Exploring Hidden Gems: Mabini Lake Campsite
Our journey takes us to Mabini Lake Campsite, a hidden treasure that even many locals haven’t discovered. Nestled in the heart of Bohol’s lush landscapes, this campsite offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The dark, serene lake is surrounded by verdant greenery, creating a picture-perfect setting for camping, boating, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature.
The Climb to Panoramic Park
No trip to Bohol would be complete without a visit to Panoramic Park, and that’s exactly where we’re headed next. The climb to the park is steep and challenging, but the views at the top make every step worth it. As we ascend, the landscape transforms into a breathtaking tableau of rolling hills, lush greenery, and distant mountains.
At the summit, the panorama is nothing short of spectacular. Imagine standing at the edge of the world, with nature’s beauty stretching out as far as the eye can see. From here, you can spot the neighboring Mabini area and even catch a glimpse of Camiguin Island in the distance. Panoramic Park is a reminder that the best views often require the greatest effort, and the reward is always worth it.
Cultural Connections and Simple Joys
One of the most heartwarming aspects of this journey was the connections we made along the way. From sharing laughs with friends to chatting with locals, every interaction added a special touch to the adventure. At Mabini Lake Campsite, I joined a group of locals who were singing and enjoying the serene surroundings. Sometimes, it’s these simple moments-a shared song, a laugh, or a quiet moment by the water-that leave the deepest impressions.
In the Philippines, friendship and humor go hand in hand. Whether it’s helping you navigate slippery roads or playfully soaking you with water, the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino people make every journey memorable.
#Unexpected Delights: Corn Ice Cream and More
No adventure is complete without trying something new, and this trip was no exception. Along the way, I stumbled upon a unique treat: corn ice cream. Shaped like corn on the cob, it was a fun and unexpected culinary experience. The creamy texture and sweet corn flavor were surprisingly delicious, proving that the Philippines is full of delightful surprises, even when it comes to food.

#Roland, Taal is a volcano within a volcano. It is still active. It erupted during the pandemic and in 2024.
Yes! It is amazing. I wonder if you could look at my latest video… it is a series of places (3) that people even in the Phillipines have not seen but truly are amazing.
#Roland, are you near Puerto Azul Golf & Country Club in Ternate, Cavite? I've been in Metro Manila all my life, but I've never been to Ternate, Cavite. My deceased biological brother used to live in Kawit, Cavite. I've been to there and to Lido Beach when I was a child. You can try this Beach and Matabungkay Beach in Batangas Province too, where there are floating cottages.
I loved living in Kawit… the people are awesome, and there is a lot to do down south of there which is easy access to Batangas. I now live in Bohol. Hopefully I will vlog north again, but first I want to head to Mindanao and Leyte. My aim is to do lots in Bohol and then travel the southern islands. I will head to Cebu soon as well… I went there last week, but soon I will go with my motorbike and camera!
@Roland--Congratulations for doing such a wonderful video--It's like a documentary with great cinematography that deserved tons of views in my opinion!! Your adventure to explore those places is well-documented with such precision and passion and I envy you that you have been to those amazing places that I haven't seen before! **I'm Filipina. For most of my life, I have lived and traveled in the USA, Canada, and Europe, and said to myself, when I retire I will visit the Phil,. more.. which is my native country, and have an adventure like yours --but now with my mobility problem, I believe it's too late to do that!! ***Thanks for your video--at least I have seen those amazing experiences of yours, as if I have seen those places already..haha.. Keep safe with your travel..and more power to your site! I will surely share your amazing video with family and friends..
@@Nelia-g9w what an awesome comment. I am in the process of getting out my next video … it should be out in the next day or two. The places I visited were challenging and exciting. I especially like the Mabini LAKE Campsite. I am sure you will enjoy that one.

Yeah- they were a surprise… apparently there are monkeys that live close to us here in Bohol as well!
You should put a string on your hat to go under your chin to keep it from being blown by the wind.
Yeah… but Australians are too trendy for strings and so we suffer the consequences lol

I wish I could go back home to my beautiful country, the Philippines.I'm retired and I found it so boring here in US. I want to die in my own country. I suggested to my son, (retired navy, 42 years old, divorced) and to my wife who willbe retiring soon that we willgoback home, cuz we will live better there, but my wife doesn't like to leave my daughter here with her family.
I hope then that I can show you this beautiful place to remind you. I understand what you mean by boring…. Western bland! As they always say here… it is more fun in the Philippines. What about spending 6 months here and 6 months there?
I wonder why you opt to go by those dangerous stairs to access the falls in Laguna ,when almost all tourists come by boat including those South Koreans who ride with you on the bamboo raft, the scenery by boat will leave you in awe .
lol… because we did not know that there was another way! It was a wonderful experience to do that though! If I had my chance again I would do the same way again… it was hard, really hard, but it was an amazing adventure!!
Mabuhay! Maraming salamat!
