Also random thing I haven't seen anyone else mention. I'm pretty sure when the Queen and Naofumi are talking on the balcony alone, and the captions don't show the Queen's full sentence. "And for King Aultcray and Malty to . . ." I'm pretty sure the implication there is that the queen told Naofumi that she was going to sentence them to death. Especially since she said that only them two know about it. It also explains why Naofumi says things about him wanting to see it happen and that he knows what's going to happen. He knew they were going to be sentenced. Also, the Queen told him before because she knew that Naofumi was the only person who could save them and she wanted to give him time to think about it and have a conscience. There would've been a chance of him going along with it in the heat of the moment if he found out about it at the same time as everyone else. She wanted to give those two the best chance at living, and give Naofumi a chance to 'make the right decision' and not have their deaths potentially weigh on his conscience later.

Suzaku has naïve idealistic view while Lelouch sees thing as they are and knows unless he does what he plans this will never change, even if that include things he can`t stomach like shooting his brother. After you see the last episode of s.2 re watch this one and listen to their parallel moral/viewpoint speeches to see he had planned it from day 1.he knew how it will end but his actions and ideas ware flexible only the end was set in stone. Also because of his commoner mother I bet the royalty didn`t care much who he is hanging around as kid for them commoners even tho Britannias are probably almost as low as someone from all the areas they captured

I love this episode. (because I like Kallen and we needed to know more about her life and motivations and aspirations). Also the fact she bested another knightmare with the last functional limb of her own mech, under extreme stress is just a preview of the ace pilot she is.

The Bondman short was yet another bonus chapter. And the omakes are anime original, probably to pad for time. 🙃The shorter stories are just what happen to build character between arcs. And there's a big one coming, so hang in there. But Yuri's story was quite the bittersweet chapter. The primary purpose of it is to help deepen the world a bit and dive more into the East/West conflict cuz it's gonna be important later. I like how the mangaka is trying to show the nuance of war and how things are tinged in shades of gray, not black and white. Every country utilizes propaganda to their own benefit to demonize the countries they fight against in order to justify their actions. (Tale as old as time, ain't it?) I'm glad you recognize that neither one of them was totally right or wrong. What Perkins did was illegal and unethical. But what his father said insinuated that he was blackballed from his Newspaper job for standing against the ruling government and the post office job was probably the only thing he could get, and it wasn't even enough to pay the bills. And Yuri realized that they're not so different. Perkins was doing what he thought he needed to do to protect his family. It's the same motivation Yuri has for his job: making the country safe for Yor. And it makes you think, if committing treason was the only way to ensure her safety, Yuri probably would have done the same thing. At the very least, he'd have strongly considered it. I really appreciate that message. It's relatable to the real world for all of us. What would we do, if we were that desperate?

I tend to go back and forth between wanting Takemichi to utilize his friends in his missions or leave them out of it. On one hand they are his army and his best chance.
