This is some AI generated mess.
This sounds like ai
Ed, if you have the AC/DC unit will that be an issue. I thought that it was automatic switching.
If you have AC connected the unit will pull power from the grid when there's not enough solar. It does that automatically.
I subbed to your channel for the Nissan Leaf/full EV battery pack storage with Lilygo or something else Dala did. I like to see other people that are just becoming familiar with the software going thru and configuring it and getting a working system. Looking forward to the rest of the Lilygo / Nissan Leaf connections showing the system working.
Thanks for the sub!
Really annoying cheesy video. I subbed to your channel for the other info. Looking forward to the rest of the Lilygo / Nissan Leaf connections showing the system working.
I hear you and I am working on more educational videos like that.
Hi, I just saw this video, and I'm a bit stunned. If I understand correctly, you are able to use a Leaf battery right out of the vehicle with just the small computer that provides communication between the inverter and the batery? This is like a dream come true. I am assuming that it includes the balancing of the individual battery modules? As I understand it, the Leaf battery also has an internal charge controller. So, is it as simple as getting an all-in-one solar charge controller/inverter and plugging in the Leaf battery?
Rodger that, we use the battery as is. It already has a BMS and charge controller built in so no need for those. You just need a compatible High Voltage Hybrid Inverter.
How much is the Panels?
Free ;)
Nice. I should have kept it simple like this. Just a suggestion, if you haven't already, buy some 8" bonding jumpers from ss and a grounding clamp.
Good idea, thanks for the tip!
fun but the ROI on this is no good anymore I think. It used to be though. ?
Thanks for watching! On Solar Power it still is profitable.
Nice, I have a Solis S6 3 phase 10kW inverter being installed next week, will add the "virtual battery" until I find a friendly electrical inspector and a used Leaf battery
Sounds good! One tip, I don't know what kind of setup you have there but you can buy the Leaf from a salvage auction pull the battery and part out the rest. You get a free battery or even make some money that way with a little work.
And how is anyone going to survive on 24kw in batteries alone without the grid... they shd tell pple the truth
I agree that a 24kWh battery is on the smaller side these days however I can easily run my house overnight with that. That's 2 full size refrigerator/freezers, 1 small fridge, 3 chest freezers and assorted lights and electronics. The bigger loads can only run during the day of course. So it is doable, no problem and that is the truth. Just do the math. ;)
I hope this chatGPT script hell is not our future
Don't worry, just doing some testing 🤣
Good job
Thank you Sir, Thanks for watching!
I already bought both, they will be delived soon... Can't wait.
Wow, this was so painful to listen to. Couldn’t finish it.
Really, what was the major pain point so we can improve.
@ the script was like an infomercial. The facts were given out in dribbles. Most of us interested in the inverters have great depth of knowledge about, solar, inverters and the industry. The constant bouncing around was very annoying. Get concise info out with facts about the specs. Get a real person. Lots of good UA-camrs out there that would do it for free.
Thanks for the input.
the battery is between 100v to 500v range. that is a 32 cell battery good find a replacement bms. good luck.
I don't understand the comment, I'm using Nissan Leaf batteries. No problem finding parts.
Painfully obvious ai
Technology is amazing.
Ai
Yes, I think it's a very good review.
infomercial....
Love seeing the steady progress!
Thanks!
Your videos are really interesting to the point I subscribed, but could you please get a decent microphone and clean up with some editing and please include some illustrations or pictures of layout. If you want your videos to take off, it would really help if you put a bit more effort into making them a little more professional, with clean editing, good sound and easy to follow diagrams. I subbed because I have 70kW of used 250W panels mounted to a wooden roof like tiles and am looking to figure out how to wire them in series and parallel and get the power into old low cost used EV batteries, then get that power back out to power our offgrid training center. I have seen Dala's videos but he makes too many assumptions of current knowledge, so I would love to see a from scratch video series of what to buy, what to make, how to wire up the panels to the charge controller and the battery and the inverter setup. Could you please make this series from scratch showing how many volts/amps you have coming from your panels, and how you get that power into the Leaf batteries? Thanks much! keep up the great work!
I hear you and I will be working on making the videos better.
That's a good girl! We've got 3 German Shepard's and also think dog is a man's best friend!
Agreed, without a doubt they are man's best friend!
Nice! I did not see how the unistrut was attached to the wood. Where did you get the bracket that holds the solar panels on?
Thanks! Unistrut is held on with lag screws and I will be adding an angle iron hold down strap. I made the bracket, you can see it in an past video.
I’m looking at an off grid inverter. Initially I was considering the Solis inverter like you have here. But I’m now looking at Sunsynk inverters. A couple of advantages: 8.8kW AC output (including EPS output). 16kW peak output for 10 seconds, which is excellent for motor starting. Ability to parallel inverters on the EPS network.
Sounds good, let us know how you make out!
Glad you were able to get this. I've heard nothing but good things about Starlink. I've heard it's been a God send for those affected by the recent hurricanes. Hope it's working out nicely for you!
Thanks for watching! It's been a game changer out here. We have no cell data even with outside antennas and an amp, I was running on a very slow DSL for years before this.
Loved the review. We sell a lot of these units, especially in the summertime. Glad it's working well for you, and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching and for selling a great product! I will be buying at least one more of these.
nice project. what i would do for the shack is make exhaust system for your miners and add a mini split to keep everything cool
Thanks! I'm not going to run the miners in the shed, gonna build a smaller pod for 10 S19's.
Excess electricity should be used to make fertilizer, Calcium nitrate (from nitric acid ; high voltage NO2 generation into water with limestone)
I'm not sure if I'll get into fertilizer production but I like where your head is at!
Get a garden hose out their, your panels are super dusty.. you’ll get higher production 👌
😂
Get a solar powered mini split to cool the shed.
Yes Sir, That's on the list for next year but I think I'll get a regular heat pump because I already have solar power in there.
Also like your grounding method to the unistruts. Clean.
Yeah, keeping things safe!
Great update! Nice to see the regular progress. Interesting how you're going to link the growatt up to the solis. Interested in seeing that.
Thanks! It's gonna be a fun one to set up.
Love it!!! Florida is exactly where I’d want this too!
Florida is a good place for solar, go for it!
@@DIYSolarFarming Oh I'll be doing it for sure! Limited to about 10.5KW or I'm required to have a higher insurance policy apparently, but they overproduce so I should be fine. I have a system on a home 800 miles North now and love it, but I want batteries due to storms down there. As large a battery bank as I can manage which is why "solar" battery prices irritate me so much lol!
What did you use to drive the ground rod in ?
Hilti TE76 Hammer Drill, works good!
@@DIYSolarFarming It sure does!
how we can get these wiring diagrams?
They are here, github.com/dalathegreat/Battery-Emulator
Hello Ed's DIY Solar Farming, I analyzed your UA-cam channel and found that you are doing something wrong in uploading your videos and that's why your UA-cam channel does not rank on the top search results.
Thanks for your analysis.
How well are you doing with the crypto mining? I assume it's way better to use excess solar production to make a good return also. Thanks, Casey
If you have to pay for power it's not good but I've done the calcs and this way looks promising. Everyone says you need to mine 24/7 for best efficiency but the numbers say different. It may be slower but it may be the tale of the hare and the tortoise.
@DIYSolarFarming if you have peak use rates, you can collect power and buy the cheaper power, then mine on battery during peak rate to lower avg cost?
The way I'm setting up I will run at max capacity and use almost all the power available during the day, That's between 10 to 15 AntMiner S19's when fully built out. That gives a much better ROI than playing the Power Company games.
If u mine only to empty the battery to have room to charge the next day assuming its sunny, and to stop the battery from getting to 100% to garantee use of 100% of the produced power, u'll probabl get a better $/kWh than seeling to any grid; and at zero cost. reenforcing BTC's blockchain not only with decentralized mining but also decentralized power production. win-win-win-win-win
@@xlportugal Yes, exactly! I don't want anything to do with the utility company. I make way more money mining than selling to the grid. Stay tuned for some interesting mining videos!
Cool you got it working good job
Thanks, it's working good so far!
Oh, great tip on the bolts by weight and the no sales tax thing. Nice advice right there!
It helps to save money where you can!
Nice. How do you like your Metabo miter saw. I have one in my cart this week for $92 bucks. Seems like a great little unit and a great value.
I love it!
Nice. Always love to see it running!
Thanks! Will do a full day run today then I need to write some automation scripts to control the miners dependant on available solar.
@DIYSolarFarming this is amazing, I've wanted to play around with solar to btc for a while now
Can this inverter operate when the grid is down given that it has no transformer?
Yes Sir! Check the latest video I did that test with the battery connected and the grid breaker off. It will operate as a true Off Grid Inverter. It will also do grid forming so you can run other grid tie inverters Off Grid.
@@DIYSolarFarming That's great to hear. I'lll check it out, thanks!
😎👍
Neat!
Thanks!
Good idea on the connectors! I'm gonna use that!
Go for it!
Oh, and on the grid connection. Is that how you initially powered it up the first time? Just connected the grid and turned it on? Then set it to zero export immediately?
Yes that's temporary, I only have the 2000 watts from the shed roof connected right now so the 12awg works for testing. The #2 is run to the shed I just need to bring it in and connect it. In your case just to check it out you can just connect the grid, no solar or battery, then there's no worry about export. Are they using Smart Meters in Okinawa?
Which reminds me. Can you share more details (screenshots or video) on the specific settings and where you set them for the pylontech protocol and any other settings areas that were needing to be adjusted? I'll have to find the location to adjust the L1 and L2 output voltage down from 120 to 105v.
Shure thing!
Nice! I'm super stocked to see this. Love your setup too. Nice and clean. I appreciate you showing how you wired it up too. It gives me a better idea of what I need to do myself here this weekend in beginning to wire mine up. I got most of the parts in hand now. Just waiting on the electrician to install the manual transfer switch and upgrade the incoming feed from the pole from 100v single phase to a 200v split phase. So might be another week or more before it's done. In the meantime I will unbox mine perhaps on Saturday and start it up to check out the app and basic settings.
Sounds good! Let us know how it works out!
Nice job how was the startup Did you have to get the inverter on first then the battery? Im about to order the solis and an 82kwh tesla m3 pack
These are the steps according to the manual, 5.2 Commissioning Procedure Step 1: With the DC switch off, energize the PV strings and then measure DC voltage of the PV strings to verify that the voltage and polarity are correct. Turn on the battery and check the battery voltage and polarity as well. If RSD is being used, the PV strings will be at safety voltage (~0.6-0.6Vdc per module in the string). + - Step 2: Turn on the OCPD for the system and then measure the AC voltages line to line and line to neutral. The backup side of the system will be off until commissioning is complete. Turn the OCPD back off for now. Step 3: Turn the DC switch on and then the OCPD (AC breaker) for the system. If you are using rapid shutdown, the voltage should increase after a few seconds. If it does not, give the rapid shutdown initiation switch a clockwise turn so that it pops out.
