The technique itself, can be useful ive tried it a quite a few times before when i wasnt feeling particularly talkative . However, this is quite manipulative if you plan to make someone " dig themselves into a hole" and therefore it encourages distance instead of closeness. People are already too distrustful of one another, and this is not something that helps with that if the intent is "finding toxsicity" Thereby proving yourown toxicity. But only slightly, so its not a big deal. But my main point is, whille ultimately, you will listen better either way if you do this, i think that if then you actually want to engauge with what the person sais, youll have a much better time, both from the perspective that youll relate to a human beeing, and you might learn something new. Ive learned plenty of things from people who ive even disliked, but i gave them the chance to speak, and ive oftain realised that thease people have come out of very harsh familial relationships, and all sorts of betrayal, and just them beeing naive, so finally they built up this shell. And they didnt say thease things just directly alot of times, but it just comes out in small details. And other times you find some disturbing people without knowing why. And then you find some amazing people who you wonder whare theive been all your life. But if i had treated thease people from the get go as " oh let me see how toxic they are" then im just as toxic as i assume them to be. To me, personally, the correct aproach is " ill give thease people the benifit of doubt, and ill even try to believe them, but i will set a boundry so they dont go too far " So i can both be not naive, but also nota scheeming manipulator. Because what do i gain from assuming the worst out of people right from the start? Well, except paranoia and a feeling of falce superiority, i cant see much. And worst of all, i might actually benifit if theey are right about what they are talking about, but here i am thinking about how foolish they are for thinking that they are talking to someone likeminded, when im just extracting intel of who they are, and they are none the wiser. Its umm, not a good look, or feel, especially for the person doing it. Lastly, we have to distinguish between disagureement and toxcisity. Just because someone has good arguments and you feel bad because of it, doesent mean that they are toxic. The reason i say good arguments is because Elon and Jordan are blatant sharletons. But charismatic ones. I used to be their fan( particularly Petersons) for a few years. And i took peterson as if he knew everything. Ive eatched most of his seminars and lectures, and i took notes, and used those thongs in real life in conversations inwhatever i did, and it has some things in there. But, on the other hand the damage they did was also notable, especially through the misinformation in reguards to IQ, to Capitalism, to Potencial, to responcibuility, Love, relationships. Franly on all of thease things i was better off without them a 100 fold. Never have i had a worst period in my life as i did when i believed all the nonsence peterson peddled , and thats saying alot for someone who has been depressed for years . Having now clensed myself out of his bloody god forsaken idiology, i have been able to live life free of any burden of guilt and resentment, which ironically is what peterson warns against, but he does everything to induce it in us as well . Ill be more detailed if you wish, but for lords sake, i say, save yourself, because no one will.
