Tropico 6: Superpower Defense | Episode 1 | Tropico 6 100% Series
In this episode, we setup a huge and mighty economy that we can use to pay for a copious amount of weapons and a large army. With our army, we are able to acutally witness some pretty cool fights and have full access to some of the cooler things that your armies can use like letting your commandoes provide tactical support to your troops and getting the fort to provide the arsenal upgrade to your troops. Before the end of the episode, we get to witness first hand just how effective our troops are.

As a long time tropics fan who started at 3 tropico 6 is actually my personal favourite, the complexity and scale is very good but there’s still a LOT that could be added and improved. Obvious stuff like more transportation options and more building+road veriety etc… but they should also add more to the political simulation by adding stuff like the UN, an actual complex media system and having more complex warfare with generals and controllable armies that can use different tactics, the possibilities are endless.
For me it would probably be. Even bigger maps. More building variety, I love that they reintroduced the different models for some residential buildings like in Tropico 4 but honestly I want even more of that. And finally more road types, like boulevards and highways and ramps, just a bit closer to cities skylines.

I am really digging this series. I have a question. Does it reflect negatively on the island when there are a lot of shacks?
Shacks emit pollution and some buildings are impacted negatively by pollution like the plantations and ranches. They might even have a crime safety penalty but I'm not too sure about that one. I usually turn on the no more shacks edict immediately before all the shacks even spawn
Didn't know they are making a Tropico 7. The last Tropico game I really enjoyed was Tropico 4. Would love to see a return to that style of gameplay.
That last time that I played Tropico 4 I was really young, I don't remember much of it. I do remember really liking the game though.
So I got Tropico 6 and bunch of DLC's in a humble bundle package couple of months ago and after playing it a fair bit, I like it but I do wish it had more of "spirit of Tropico 4" if they are working on another sequel.

As much as I love Tropico 6, it always bugs me how there are no electric pylons connecting substations for realism. Not to mention the fact there's no parking lots just garages. Also no wide street lanes. Everything looks so linear it lowkey bothers me. But at the same time it's my top favorite build games; right there with Jurassic World Evolution 1 and 2. I always come back to Tropico 6 because it's addicting
Yeah, there is a lot of things that are lacking but I also think that Tropico games excel in other ways. Like I always mention the fact that you can control the government. You can turn off elections if you want or create a utopia where no one wants to vote you out of office.
I wonder, are the devs even working on Tropico 7? I just recently found this game (yes, living under a rock) and I love the series that you are releasing about the game.
I believe that they have been working on it for a while. Not totally sure, but I figured that I might as well toss my opinions into the mix since I've played Tropico 6 for like over 1k hours. And thanks! I want to finish off the series on getting 100% of the game finished and move on to some of the sandbox playthroughs that I did in months prior! 😄

I find you usually need 1 church, clinic, and grocery for every 150 people or so

I have always built these houses in standard size. I have difficulty with more than 1500 inhabitants because there is a lack of variety of food. I will try your way.
Hmm, I mean I've never made it to 1500 people so I couldn't tell ya if my way works? I sure hope it does though! The reason that I give them as large a yard as possible is to allow each family to grow as much food as possible. It's just free food every year. Then go with the lowest land taxes and that became the basis of my economic planning. I base everything else around these parameters.
I dont know why but i cant visit houses with the president. Any help?
I just looked into it, and I don't believe that El Presidente can visit a building unless it is a workplace. If you hover over the option to have him visit something, it will say that he will visit a workplace to inspire the local workers. When he shows up, it will give an efficiency bonus for the building for a while. Hope that helps some! 😄
One thing you can do to offset the challenges of this mission is to use the raid buildings. The pirate cove can steal the Hagia Sophia which will prevent anyone from dying due to the pollution, then preform repeated rescue many mission to bring in population The commando garrison can use repeated intimidate raids to offset your bad housing rating In the next era, the spy academy can steal the colosseum so that housing happiness will no longer matter,
Looks like the trade post set on max gold trading would be very worth this mission

I think I forgot to activate the free wheels edict. I usually make sure to put the parking decks near those buildings and cluster them all up near each other. If someone is in a building that has road access, and they intend to go to another building with road access. They will need to be in the rich class. If the free wheels edict is active, then they will only need a job and they will be able to drive a car. If you want to see me trying very hard to make a really nice walking community, check out like the middle of my communist utopia series. Or maybe check out the capitalist utopia, the first video I ever uploaded, it has a pretty insane number of roads and parking decks all over the place with tons of cars to boot. I'm going to be keeping up with the series on the channel. For the next while I'm doing 3 tropico videos a week which only leaves me with 3 days for the other 3 series that I started. So Ostriv will be every Monday!

I'll have to check that out! I started first playing Surviving Mars back in like 2019 and I always wanted to do the achievements for each of the Sponsors. I don't think it will take long and maybe after I'll start up a series on Aven Colony!
This game sounds kinda fun, but I just hate the grid system, it looks so bad, mainyl when you compare to what you could do in game like Cities Skylines or any other city builder that allows you to freely design your road system.
I completely get that. The major thing that sets Tropico apart though, is the government system. You can pursue capitalism or communism; you can create a utopia, or you can create an island where you are a military dictator. The city building elements of the game are pretty mid, but you can still make some pretty neat looking portions of your island. I would say it's definitely worth checking out if you like city building games. I have a bunch of playlists on the channel that explore all sorts of different island builds. I would recommend checking out the communist utopia playthrough I did. It is ran 100% on renewable energy amongst other pretty cool ideas. 😄 thanks for the comment!

So far, so good. If you are looking to create more income, there is a gold mine on one of the islands, so you could set up a jewelry industry. That will make some fairly decent money.
In hindsight, that would have been a good touch to help bring in some quick money 😅
If you turn off auto export for all food and run just 1 of each or the loot raids from the pirate cove you will have more than enough food to stock your grocery store
You can change the workmode on the ancient ruin to generate either knowledge or Swiss money. It would also stop the tourists from traveling to that location

Thanks for doing these. I enjoy that you experiment with things that I often wonder about myself. There must be benefits to these unconventional rights, edicts and work modes. Just have to find the right combinations. Just to add, on every map I start, I lower the budget on all housing and keep it low until quality or votes are required. It won’t alter the amount of rent they pay. Helps subsidize early projects. I also delete all jobs from the palace and go lowest budget on it. It’s basically useless imo.
I feel that sometimes it's more fun to test things out to make something interesting. So long as you don't make an island that doesn't work, you can create something that will ultimately make you money as well as allow you to bend the rules in your favor. With this current run, I'm trying something a bit more authoritarian. I definitely don't want to make every single island exactly the same for the series. Thanks for the comment! 😄
The volcano will not blow up bridges, so if you build a bridge from the island with your port and the island with the textiles, then you will not need to worry about that teamsters port being killed every time the volcano goes off.
I just got finished with episode 2 for this mission and I realized how important that would be to have done. I'm struggling to keep the production up to ensure that we are constantly making money, but as soon as I make it to a good spot, I'll definitely start putting up some bridges, it would allow me to set up more bus stations as well so I wouldn't need to rely too much on boats to transport workers and good around the island. Do you recommend tropico 5? And do you have any opinions of Anno 1800?
Tropico 5 brings back some good memories, but I was only a teenager when it was released, and I wasn't good enough at the game to really make good islands. Anno 1800 seems like a really fun game, but I haven't had enough time recently to start getting into it. I might one day, but it would be a while before I really started to get into it. You can still win elections with less than 50% support. It looks like your slightly ahead 40% to 38% with 22% undecided. The undecideds don't vote. As long as you have more support than your opponent you will win. The game tries to tell you your going to lose if your less than 50% but it's not entirely true

You can change the amount in the trading post to get larger quantity trade deals. You just need to send more free ones
I honestly need to check this building out some to get a decent understanding of how it works.
I wish they'd included a Tropicopedia in game for a complete description of the buildings, because you can't know about upgrades, different working modes, parameters that affect efficiency and quality of service until after you've built the building. Great guide btw.
You can get any trade deal you want (cars) by building a trading post. Also, you have a cruise ship that has been sitting empty the whole game because you are not brining in rich tourists. You need to set one of your 2 tourist ports to bring on rich tourists.

You can actually send out all four pirate ship at once in the raid menu...but i guess you'll find out in part 3?😂

Can you have all 4 pirate ships out at the same time? I queued up a bunch of the missions and was expecting a bunch of pirate ships to leave but only one was leaving at a time. I figured that it wasn't going to get any better than that, at least the spare pirate coves were generating raid points. 😅

Due to the unique map and mechanics this my absolute favorite mission in the game 😁 unfortunately you made some bad decisions by destroying the fish (one of the few ressources of the island), ignoring the mines and focussing on plantations instead.. however you motivated me to play this mission again 😁 i wonder how your playthrough will turn out at the end!
I knew the risks of demolishing the buildings, I wanted to make the island a well-off island by giving everyone wages of $10 or more. If they make less than that, they would have been poor and unable to afford a house or to go to the theater. I did have some poor Tropicans, but I wanted most of them to be able to be well off. The mines would come later as I wanted the "free wheels" edict to be viable at the time. It is very expensive but can drastically increase efficiency of a spread-out island.
