The Marshall Islands Non-Communicable Disease Coalition is dedicated to fighting diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer and obesity. The Marshall islands has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the world (27%) and another 21% with prediabetes. This channel is dedicated to promoting awareness of these horrible diseases and ways to prevent them. We want everyone to be NCD free and as healthy as possible. On this channel, we will post cooking videos, short commercials on health, documentaries on health programs, and educational videos on healthy lifestyle changes you can make at home to really change things around.

With funding from the European Union and multiple partnerships within the Marshall Islands, the people of Ailuk got some majuro help in 2020. Canvasback Wellness Center and others visited the island multiple times to help establish gardens and teach about health and lifestyle change.

Malo is one of our Community Health Workers in Ionmaaj weto here on Majuro. She turned her life around by eating healthy foods and exercising with the local community walking club. Now her blood sugar is under control and she is feeling great again.

In 2017 we started a school health program with funding from the World Diabetes Foundation. Now in 2020, we are starting to see big results as we wind down the program. Principals and teachers are starting to take up the torch and run the health programs themselves and students are going home and telling their parents to give them healthy foods. Use the very young ones... still curly and not fully opened.
She is using dalo ni tana which is why it is hard. The leaves are thicker then normal taro leaves. In terms of itchyness both are similar. Comes down to heat and duration of cooking to get rid of the itchyness.
