This channel is focused on making things in my little workshop. You don't need a big shop to make stuff, just big ideas.
bauer bucktool rikon 22 scroll saw arm release lever
let fix the Bauer, Bucktool and rikon 22 inch scrollsaw. the locking pin for the top arm is way to far away to reach. lets make a simple lever lever to make it easy!

Scott, Great and timely video. Just getting started looking at scroll saws. Was looking at the Wen scroll saws then saw your video. You indicated that you bought a stand and power pedal. Can you post the links to those 2 items. Did not see them on the HF scroll saw page. Also, what blades do you recommend in getting started. Please post your suggested links. Thanks again for the video.
On HF page search 57200 for the power maintained switch, 57299 for the momentary pedal. The stand is 69805. I bought the cheaper stand and ended up just making one from scrap lumber. Rikon also sells a stand but it’s like $100. There are a few great brands for blades; Niqua (also sold under the name Flying Dutchman), Pègas, Olsen (but I only recommend the Mach speed and pgt from them. Bearwood.com sells sample packs of the Niqua and pegas. It’ll let you play with different sizes to see what you like.

Cool
Well Don 👍
Yeah no calisthenic workout!!!🎉Thank you Jim More for sharing this with Making it with Scott. Thank you Scott for making this video!!!!! Im looking to buy this scroll saw everything is made just right except for that release pin. I dont understand why Bauer didnt just do this. Im just a short person and wasnt really looking forward to the calisthenic workout while doing my woodworking 😂🎉 Thank you thank you for this video. I have no concerns now on buying this Bauer scroll saw!!! Jill C. Tombstone Arizona
Duck it...🤘🤘
This is called how to almost cut off your fingers like three times and I can't handle it😢
You can’t cut off your fingers with a scroll saw. It causes bandaid cuts at worst. I have been using these saws for 37 years and still have all my fingers. If you’d like to amputate things table saws and bandsaws are a better option.
Is that a 13th floor artwork shirt?
I don’t believe so but it was a gift
Scott, Nice job of making and sharing my idea. Appreciate the shout out. Never occurred to me to use aluminum for the fulcrum point, but love your design modification. Didn’t realize that pin could disappear without the split ring in place either. Good warning on lifting that arm without a ring. Guess I lucked out not making that mistake 😊. Keep the videos coming and continue growing that duck army!
Could it work for the Bucktool 22 inch Scroll saw?
Yes, it will. I have a published the full video yesterday if you’d like to make one for yourself.
@@MakingitwithScott Thanks 👍
You should sell these! I’m a new scroller and just got the Bauer saw recently. I really like it but as you mentioned, that pin is way too far away.
I just bought the grizzly and this looks just like it. It looks like a copy of the Excalibur and probably made in the same factory. I wish I had seen this before I bought mine.
Your thumbs???
yeah, i'm neurodivergent. it's a compulsion (stim), I don't realise i'm picking at them. kinda sucks, i always wanted to be a hand model.
Terrific, Scott! Thanks for making and sharing this. 👍🏼
I can’t wait to see what you come up with for a final design. But this looks very promising!
is the video sped up? I'm impressed that you can cut such thick wood so fast
Yes, it was sped up 2x to keep the time down
does this machine use pinnless blades?
Yes
How does one break in when the door is already open???? I blame the education department
Just bought this same saw and made my first cuts on it today. I’m very newbie. Thanks for the review and basics for this saw. Would love to see more.
I’m going to be making a series of videos for brand new people, starting on monday
The FMJ comment caught me off guard. good work!
Why does this guy sound like Brian stelter?
that voice is a thumbs down
I know right? It’s like a gingerbread man and Morty Smith had a baby with Carl Wheezer.
What do you intend to do with this "duck" army?
Not quite sure yet…
Thanks Scott. I've had an old Craftsman scroll saw for 10 years and just starting to play with it now. Appreciate your videos as a good place to get my basic beginner's info. Looking forward to your future content :)
I’m going to be making a series of videos for brand new people, starting next week
...why a duck army? Shouldnt it be a navy?
Or Air Force?

Thank you ❤
Thanks. You earned a new Sub Bro
Appreciate it! Glad you like the content.
Hey Scott, will i be able to use spiral blades with this saw? Please and thank you ❤😊
yes, spiral blades will work on this saw :)
Where I see who this saw is for, it as budget frienldy saw and provides the “better saw” tehcnolgies. In terms of the front chuck, the lever seems to work like the Pegas. You put the blade it, flip the lever and the tension is set.
It’s a great option for someone who is just starting out and wants something better than a $100 wen. It’s a hell of a lot better that the pin end craftsman I started with.
Thank you for the great review.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Scott. I've got a 16 Year old DW788 and was looking to replace it but no longer able to spend $600 plus for a new one. I saw the Bauer and was looking for a review. Yours is about the only one out right now and was very helpful in making up my mind. Thanks
Hey Scott I never unboxing this scroll saw and does it has dust collection? Does include stand ?
It does not have dust collection. Like most saws the stand is not included.
Ty for your video. I’ve been “out of the scroll saw” loop for many years. Your refresher is very helpful!
I've been looking at the WEN for quite a while. I was surprised when this video popped up in my feed. I just had to watch it. The Bauer line at HF is well known so it's not surprising that they have done a scroll saw of this size that is being well received. Definitely on my radar when I'm ready to make a purchase. Thanks for taking the time to do this review.
I have the WEN and really like it
I’m considering a scroll saw and your video is timely. I’m a beginning hobby level woodworker. Some of the settings look confusing but that would apply to every saw. Looking forward to more videos. Thanks!
Next week I’m going to start making a series of absolute beginner scroll saw videos.
@ That would be perfect for me! I’ll be looking for it!
Should have explained how to change blades. Pro and con. But thanks for reviewing the saw.
You’re right, I’ll record a short showing the blade changing tomorrow.
That’s great. Thank you
Thank you. Can you show putting in a spiral blade? Thanks ❤@@MakingitwithScott
yes, yes you can.
Great looking saw! Thanks for your review. Is there any maintenance required? I've had my Black and Decker now for 25 years and have never had to do anything to it.(believe me, it has hundreds of thousands of miles on it) Best $180 I've ever spent. 😎✌️
No maintenance, I’m sure after a few years it may need new brushes on the motor and the bearing may need to be replaced. Honestly I got the 2 year warranty because if it starts having issues, it takes 5 minutes to swap it out for a new one. HF’s warranty is awesome.
@MakingitwithScott cool, thank you. I'll certainly keep this saw in mind when I need another one. 😎
Hey, Scott - Great review! I am a neighbor to the west in Minnesota. I just got this same saw a few weeks ago. It is my first scroll saw so I don't have anything to compare it to, however it seems to line up like a cheap Pegas clone from what I've seen online. So far, I've been really happy with it. The stock blades aren't great but I knew that going in. With a good blade, this saw cuts great. I also bought the HF stand and this thing is a beast, so it's not going anywhere and vibration hasn't been an issue at the speeds I saw at. I also wish the rear ring pull had a different design, so I'm curious to see what you come up with for a cord and pulley and a blade holder. I'm looking forward to more great videos! Cheers...
Very good information. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Thanks
Thank you. You are a pleasant soul that is passionate about your craft and clearly love to help others. I've learnt a lot and I too was frustrated trying to cut a straight line. I thought my saw was junk (inexpensive and old Dremel 571). Turns out that it's all about getting the feel of the machine and understanding the material being cut.
Finding Nemo ha haaaaa .. cool stuff dude 😆
I blue tape then apply clear packing tape. Much cheaper and safer for your lungs plus you get a decal that is a pattern
❤
Thanks for the video. I just got my first scroll saw today, so this is a big help.😊
Thanks for explaining things. I too am 71 and do alot of crafting. This is a new venue for me. Need to learn....... Thanks again..
Great tips ! I’m new to the scroll saw and have the most difficulty threading the saw blade into holes for internal cutting. The bottom of the blade comes loose when I’m trying to reattach the blade. This takes a bunch of time and is frustrating. I was hoping to find a video on how to easily move to a new hole without fiddling too much with the blade. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
