pursuing an Interior design degree in 2024 even with the development of AI tools, can still be valuable for many reasons, particularly in our country. because AI will always be a tool that will enhance and make your work efficient in a very methodical way, but the knowledge that will come with a degree and learning is difficult to fully replace with AI tools. Interior design is a very human oriented subject, where your basically creating spaces understanding the physiological and emotional aspects of human behavior, so AI cant fully replicate human-centric design requirements. I Fully understand your worry with value for the money, but if your passion is to become an interior designer its really important to follow a degree program. Regarding the job market there are many aspects such as growing demands with increasing urbanization, and rapid increase of apartment projects, and many more, also many of my peers are freelancing after working for reputable Interior and Architecture firms. so my advise is if its your passion you need to have formal education and if somehow you end up doing a degree program, after graduation work your skills build a stiff portfolio and gain network and experience as they are crucial in interior design in Sri Lanka. Good luck with your future studies <3

They are closely related fields, but in Interior Architecture the primary concern deals with structural aspects of interior spaces,such as layouts, functionality, and safety. Often they are involved in structural changes, layouts planning, also they require knowledge in Architecture, structural engineering, building regulations. Meanwhile Interior design focus on the space planning, aesthetics and functionality of a space. They involve in materiel selection, furniture layouts,accessories and styling. They require skills of styling, creativity, and knowledge on design principals. Both Interior Architects and Interior designers require Degrees in their respective field.
