I mean, one of my favorite anime is Doraemon, which is practically a comfort show/anime to me and also one of the most popular cultural icons in the world, and yet most people dismiss it in the West with the excuse of, "Why do I want to watch something from somewhere else when I can practically have the same thing we have here?" or some ridiculous bullshit as some people make an excuse to have this favoritism.

Its simple: different bad People dont like to be exposed to different cultures even if its something so insignificant to the larger whole like entertainment and because of this mindset you get this tribal hatred of the media (in this case) and the people who enjoy it

I used to love anime. Until 2024 came around with shitty sequels,reboots,remakes,and whatever was Uzumaki and Ninja Kamui(loved the premise and the animation yet the story and animation quality does deell later on),a lot of Jsekai rubbish,and terrible sdaptions. 2024 was the most mediocre test for entertainment In general Espefially after the 2023 strikes and 2022 WB-Disckvery merge. 2020-22 was the last time ankmation was booming and 2020-23 Ankme quality was going down with here and there fantastic shows. The industry of animation and live action relies heavily on nostalgia nowadays with 80s 90s and 1/2 half 00s nostslgia(the millennium was 2001 not 2000 as there was and still is the millennia error due to zgregorian/Hulian calendar having no year zero in them). Most new mangas are mediocre outside the here and there that is fresh and new and original. The mid 00s-late 10s had a handful of classic animes and a lot of mediocre ones. Yet the 90s and esrly 00s was were there Sailor Moln and Fowbky Bebop Inuyasha and Yi Yu Hakisho and the continuation DBZ to one season of DBGT. Trigun Outlaw Star Cardcapture Sakura Vieion or Eacsflume and Ranma 1/2 and Turono Kensin were all released on that time period as well(also Evanebgeluon). Anine was a lot better back than nowadays besides Chainsaw Alan,JJK S1(S2 pacing writing and animation sucks),Hell’s Paradise,Spy x Family,DS(beautiful animation just HY arc was the worse arc so far by audiences and critics),MHA,AOT,and Dr Seone S1 ans S2(S3 sucks), To Your zeternal S1(A2 Tory sucks) are today’s biggest and possibly one day classics(even Buddy Daddies). Outside of those there are of a lot of crap. Blesch THBY as well as we’ll be one day seen as classic too. Yet outside of here and there series anime has declined in quality and increase in quantity due to increase or Wedtern and a Japanese watchers. Hopefully Sakamoto and Fire z force and BE S1(didn’t care for S2 and S3) will also go down as classics one day. I personally thought Binland Saga to be tedious to watch as Blesch/Blesch TUBW and MHA S6(haven’t seen S7 yet waiting for Toonami to play it) and didn’t care for Mashie. Hopefully also Hlafk Flover goes down like Black Lagoon and Mlnster in the anime history books. But for right now anime has just like cartoons have gone down in quality sihnificabtly. Lazarus looks like hit or miss anime and same as Zenshi and Lsmkm Soda and Misisonary Lily.
