When You Run Your Detector Over Metal in the Ground the Detector Alerts w/ a Certain Tone & VDI Number, Like 68. The VDI # is Supposed to Correspond w/ the diameter, Shape, Conductivity, & Size of an Object. A Quarter VDI # is 87-90 and an 1/2 Dollar Would be 90 and Up. Lower Tones can be Iron, Aluminum, Foil or a Even a Gold Ring. That Would be Your Conductivity. Minelab Detectors are Good, but Make Sure You Get a Waterproof One, I Have a Friend That Has to Wrap His in Plastic if it starts Raining. Mine is Waterproof.
