Great Video Mate, Loved the step by Step, fully comprehensive tutorial for the R56 Mini. I do have a question, I am having to do a similar job sort of on my Mini, but my issue is the car won't heat the cab in winter. The heat Matrix is getting heat /hot, but it is as if air isn't passing through it. Do I need to do the level of strip down you have shown to look at that motor you highlighted in front of the blow?

Hey, you should change the evaporator at once since it is a super complicated job. It's a shame that you don't explain how to get to the evaporator and how to remove it since there are no videos on UA-cam that explain it in as much detail as this video. I have the same year of R56 but I noticed yours had the "Air Con button", ours doesn't have this, what exactly is the part that blocks the access to the 3rd screw on the blower motor? I'm hoping the base model doesn't have this part, so then would it be possible to do this without removing the full dash on a base model?

Great video, I need to change one of the actuators, it’s the one you remove right before removing the blower motor. Would I be able to change this without removing the whole dash? I can see it when I remove the cover direct above the pedals, access to the screws looks tricky as it’s high up or will I need to remove the dash to change the actuator?

The long, hard and official way bei BMW's TIS, that's why it is so terrible expensive. Replace the fan from the driver's footwell, a little more tedious but only takes half the time. If you remove the DC-DC-box you have enough room.

That is crazy, how much to do mine?

So, this video is great. I have a question though, my dealership said the “evaporator flap” is broken and I have to replace the whole assembly to fix said flap, as well as the “flap motor” which I think they mean the blower motor. Because the heat isn’t working. Is the evaporator flap the same as the blend door flap? I didn’t think the evaporator itself had a flap? Any chance you could assist me on this? I’m not a mechanic but trying to do this myself because they quoted me $3000.

What reg is that, because I’m fairly sure that’s the exact car I’ve got, BT07 DLK?

Another massive thanks for your brilliant video. Have just replaced the fan on my partners R56. None of the local garages were interested, a local Mini specialist quoted £800 and BMW £1155. The new fan cost £100. I am not a mechanic so, it took me a full day to do (constantly referring to the vid} but well worth it. Once again many thanks.

Thanks a lot mate, just done me 320i msport estate f31 and all wires were exactly as you said. Unfortunately I think the box isn’t working as it gives a constant 3V output even though all the right V signals are going in and GNDs are good. Hopefully get a replacement but a least I know the hard part is done. Thanks again 👍🏻

Do you forget to put bumper rail back on over the tow bar? Or you left it for purpose . Just wondering I will be doing it myself so I am researching subject. I’ve seen other guys fitting it back on. Thanks for posting btw!

Massive thanks for the video, I've replaced the fan in my R57 this weekend and this made it so much easier - pretty sure I wouldn't have found all the fittings without your help. Definitely a great guide. Mine has climate control rather than aircon so there is another little sensor or something in the middle of the dash towards the front which needs to be unplugged - not easy to get to but the wire does seem to pull out without too much difficulty, very fiddly to get back in though!!

Absolutely amazing video. Great job. I have a problem with a ratcheting noise when changing direction of air-flow, would that be the unit you removed before the fan motor with the white gears in?

Thanks for this. I'm currently persevering with an R60 (Countryman). I've been able to undo two of the T20 bolts on the blower motor, but one of them is partially blocked by the vent/servo. I'm at the 32 minute mark of the video and was trying to avoid removing the metal frame, but seems I've no choice. Bloody car

Really useful video! Thanks for taking the time to upload this. Just for everyone’s reference, I’ve just fitted a universal relay to a 16 plate f31 and the wire colours were exactly the same.

This is the most helpful video regarding r56 dash removal. I have few points to add regarding LHD versions. 1- RHD and LHD and mostly the same regarding disassembly. 2- If you have a button in the steering wheel there will be 3 plus ( airbag- horn- buttons) 3- the steering wheel is pinned and not pressed like most car manufacturers, dont over tight the bolt 4- when removing the speedo gauges be very gentle as it flexes hard 5- when you remove the clock spring, tape the positions its in as it will be centered and if if it rotated 180 right of left it will break upon first turn later on. 6- when you remove the evap box assembly ( black thing ) be gentle with the hoses as the connector is plastic 6.5- you can remove the rubber surrounding the coolant hoses and refrigerant pipes without an issue, my coolant pipes were stuck even after removing the locking pins so i left them. 7- when reinstalling the air box MAKE SURE the rubber falls in the same posion as before ( take picture) or The engine noise will be heard from it. ( happened to me) :( 8- make sure the air box drain is proparlly seated there is no pipes just sits on top of the drain, and clear the drain with compressed air 9- finally replace all the o-rings for the AC lines to insure no leaks develop. and another thanks for this video.

What made you decide to upgrade the filter and adding the fp3? Slip ins don’t do anything to performance so I’m just curious.
