Use a watered down acrylic paint (10-20 parts water to paint ratio) and brush that heavily into your pre-damaged wood, and allow it to soak in. I typically use a blend of black, white, brown, and a touch of green or even purple, which gives the wood a nice weather gray look that soaks deeply into the wood. Don't wipe it off either. Just alllow it to penetrate and let the wood absorb all of that moisture on its own. It'll look 200 years old, and sanding it doesn't usually remove any of the color afterwards, because it penetrates down about 1/4 inch. Warmer water will allow the color to penetrate deeper.

What about grinding it, burning it, damaging it and then stain? Have you tried that combination yet, and if so, did you like the results? You do impressive work!

I picked one up 6 months ago, it was used for $200.00 and it needed a little TLC but it has been a fantastic planer. I use it ALL the time.

Thank you for the suggestion i will do it soon! But a little question, i have this puzzle pieces made out of wood but the old paint is vanishing and i want to repaint them using acrylic. Do i have to sand them down to remove the old paint or i could just simply apply the new paint?

Can you use this idea on carvings ? The flame looks like it goes on much like a spray in which case you would have to overlap many areas.Would that create inconsistent burn patterns ?

Those stains are best in the paint stores . Big box are ok but the professional painters will recommend the best
