You'll find XCOM 2, BattleTech and Empyrion Galactic Survival on this channel. If you're new here, check out the 'Ludicrous XCOM Missions' playlist to get a good feel for what I'm about. I generally play strategy games where I can get viewers involved (much to their demise). You'll always see XCOM make an appearance throughout the year. I also play BattleTech and Empyrion Galactic Survival on a regular basis.
If you'd like a character in the line-up for XCOM 2 or BattleTech, consider subscribing so you don't miss out on future playthroughs.

Oo nice a kingfisher, not a bad mech from what I remember. I would have taken the Ebon Jaguar personally. It's got some nice built in equipment like ECM, Clan XL engine and stuff already but I think we can take anything at point 🙂
The kingfisher is an interesting beast. a Clan-omnimech without XL engine. makes it more durable, but also severely limits available tonnage for weapons. Especially since it comes with a 360 core...
@ranekeisenkralle8265 I'm sure you could cook up something sinister with it 😉. But 360 with XL? Ouch, could make it a small arms spammer 🤔, bunch of Lasers, LRM 5s, couple of AC2s something like that maybe
@@Deffy_Dhuck WITHOUT xl, Deffy. which severely limits tonnage The proposals I already posted elsewhere revolve around pulselasers.
Dance party! Kicking and stomping. Fun at the front. For the Princess of Wales!
Tiria: ”Okay, We had to get Augie back. I wonder if Jade Falcons wondered why we ent so many to rescue just one marhwarrior. And how freebirths defeated them. That Mad dog was very damaged by the time I get to shoot at it and the battle armor unit it carried. Even through the forest I saw the armored figured falling after explosions. I rushed forward to attack the dismounted battle armor group and managed to take out some of them. They and another group did shoot back. Artakha’s armored finished the first ones. Their Ebon Jaguar (shows they know nothing about jaguars) oveaheated and blew all its ammo, it seems. It still made trouble. Others had dealt with the other group when I rushed to attack enemy Gargoyle; both of us were heating up. Other pounded it into submission. Abtakha losts some of the his unit when that Ebon Jaguar slipped through. I mananed to shoot that one. When Abtakh’ rushed to attack the Jaguar, Succubus accidentally hit him. They jumped off and Succubus attacked clanster again. It was Headhunter who finally made the pilot bail out. Kaaros got Augie back. And Headhunter got the head of the Kingfisher pilot. Lots of comunicator beams to the base during the combat but lots of radio chatter afterwards, when they had to give Augie back. Recriminations, placing blame and accusations of ”cheating”, whatever that means in Clan terms. And another duel around volcano. Goose was stepping around the opponent and wiped the floor with him. I assume him. Some ”Champion” ”
To answer your question- Why was the AMC Gremlin bad? They have acquired a bad reputation among some but they were tremendously popular, reliable transportation in their time. The only negative was a fairly big one, they could explode in a rear end collision due to poor placement of bumper bolts, which pierced the fuel tank
The enemy: "Watch me as I fire every single overpowered weapon at once!" Pbbbbbbt! The mech flies apart like a 1975 AMC Gremlin that has been hit from the rear. Thank you for rescuing me.
an interesting comparison. I admit I was surprised when that happened by the way.. the Ebon_Jaguar/Cauldron_Born usually has a reputation for being incredibly durable and reliable... Would be fun to pick up a couple of them and let me tinker with them... I got so many ideas...
I swear if there is a name with Professional in it name, he will be there, i dont know why, it is my gut feeling and the amount of times you encounter him and if he is on this mission, would he be class has a stalker

It's a fun quick flick! Just had the urge to throw it on the channel as I always have a blast playing this on and off. Also just means I have a filler game for between series parts of the schedule ;)
@Chimpy13 Aye, nothing wrong with. Variety is the spice of life, and I got anew game to add to the maybe play section of my game list 😉
@@Deffy_Dhuck Ah seeing someone who hasn't played it before would be funny. Plenty of blunders occur!
@ ha! Pleasure in other people's misery! XD
Are you talking about depth charges to damage submarines?
Depth charges was what I was looking for! Though apparently mines are more fitting in terms how they work.
8:50 It is quite unfortunate that you only retrieved one of the two anchors - even though I said you should retrieve both. Oh well... You can always deploy this anchor at a stable location and wait several months for it to calibrate. then you can jump through and retrieve the other. Doing so necessitates you slow-boating through the Abyss once more though, which you could have avoided if you had grabbed both when you were there. Perhaps deploy the anchor you have in one of the unexplored systems within the core worlds? There are a few for you to choose from. 19:17 You docked at a military base but haven't bothered to check the ship vendor, nor the military store. Why? 29:10 What the Doom drops are not "depth charges". They are mines - plain and simple. And veeery effective to boot. As for remembering the slipstreams, don't bother. those are frequently changing. Consider them space-weather of a sort. Same with hyperspace storms. 39:45 There is a problem with your approach here. you are relying a lot on small ships (like Fury and smaller). In a normal battle that isn't too much of an issue, but you are dealing with a fleet of phase ships. Vessels that are intended, built, and equipped for maximum burst damage. Which is simply too much for small ships to sustain. Hence why I recommended going in with a lineup of capitals first, and then mop up afterward. And make no mistake, Phase ships are not the worst this game can throw at you. Not by quite a margin...
Wait hol'up, I mis-read you, where is the second one? I thought you meant it was after the Academy arc I get the second one. Aw man, I missed that one (maybe others) I've been vigilant since but those Paragon's seem to be in short supply. Yes, I guess they simply are mines. Honestly, they have been the thing screwing me over for the most part. Thankfully I've been able to avoid them since. I am worried about being outnumbered early in the fight if I don't have enough ships out there so I have adopted a crowd around the Anvil strategy that has paid off I can say. That thing is a miracle worker. Those Paladin PDs are fantastic. Thank you for emphasising their benefits. Speaking of bigger ships. Maybe you mentioned a build for the Onslaught but I can't seem to find it, do you have something in mind. I'll have access to my notes here at work today and can put it into action for part #27.
@@Chimpy13 retrieving the wormhole anchors is pretty easy. just approach the wormhole as if you wanted to jump through back to Limbo - and then instead of selecting the jump, select the pick-up option. Then just Transverse-jump and fly back to Limbo normally to pick up the other the same way. as for the Onslaught, I have one that I use, but I wouldn't call it optimized. It would, however, likely be useful here. I shall post it in the convo between you, me, and Deffy in a bit.
@@ranekeisenkralle8265 Oh I think I get it! You mean when at the Ice Giant area right? Sweet, I'll check in when I'm on the train in about 2 hours.

@@Chimpy13 fair enough.
Damn poor Augie man, I would have restarted that mission got a better spawn. But then that high ground helped.. For the Archer, let's get some Clan SRM6s in, with some normal, acid and Inferno in. We've yet to run a proper SRM boat, maybe nows the time?
We'll get our boy back! Assuming he can survive whatever the clan has for him in prison. I was indeed thinking of stocking up on clan SRMs and going from there for the Archer. It should be a very strong build. Might have to call it 'Daddy Kintaro'
Double clan Gauss maurader, ranek the mad bazza 🤣. Never thought it could be done, nice 😁
I mean.. I DO have a reputation to uphold, don't I?
It's an absolute terror that Marauder. Well both of them I guess!
There should be an option where you can order a pilot to eject.
There is, at the bottom left corner where it shows the mech status, there's a orange box with a black arrow. That's the eject button 🙂
@@Deffy_Dhuck Chimpy! Hear that?
There is indeed, I've used on either Big Red or Succubus in one mission, against the clans actually. I really wanted to see if the airlift escape was possible... clearly it wasn't in hindsight!
@@Chimpy13 it might have been with less firepower pouring in
OH EM GEE. Don't worry, Augie. You'll be fine. Everyone is safe. Except for Augie. /sigh. I feel a repeat of Dheffy's campaign is nearing.
only is Chimpy messes up the recovery mission. After all Augie managed to eject. But I don't know how Alexander Hazen is going to react if he is the one to find Augie.... ..last I heard he is still a bit miffed about having gotten shot by Augie not too long ago.
Anything Augie is having a rough start to the year huh? You are still alive though. That said the clanners don't like us 'freeborns' apparently.... you'll be fine ;)
@ Chimpy Award for Augie!
I'm pretty certain that "AP" When it comes to Gauss are "Anti Personnel" not Armor piercing. But enough shots from them will blow through armor like a beaver gnawing through a log.
Gauss rifle says "Omnomnomnom!"
Oh okay, thank you!
Aye that BA Swarm is nasty nasty, I did hear they nerfed it to ash in BTU, about time eh?
To be fair, Elementals were an absolute horror to mechwarriors in the lore. If anything they were even worse than they are in this mod as we saw. Because they tended to go for the cockpits deliberately, puling the pilots out of their mechs - and not necessarily in one piece.
Using a 5 tonner to completely disable anything up to 100 is incredibly useful. Not surprised they got nerfed if that's the case. Well, let's enjoy them whilst we can!
@Chimpy13 indeed
Tiria: ”So destroying Jade Falcon base in their own territory. We started from a good elevated position - except for Augie who wneded down there. Turrets and vehicles first, when Augie was dodging enemy fire. Which kept missing and wrecking their own buildings. Idiots. Augir did take hits, though, especially when fell down. At least he managed to eject. Our guys pummeled that Summoner carrying battle armor unit a lot. Well, it was in bad position, from their point of view. Eventually the guy ejected. Battle armor unit that was summoned was active but our guys barely saw what is was doing down the slope. Until they were attacking that tank and the ledge protected them from the fire from below. They ostly stayed under the canopy of trees, fighting the vehicles, which was probably wise. When I got down it was too late to help Augie. I was in Hunchback and shooting enemy Gargoyle. Sonja finished that one. Sturmfur was sturdy as well. Ace finished that one. We managed to destroy the base but now we have to get Augie back. And clans do not like the Freebirths that much.”
One contract complete, another as a result. Yeah I'm not too sure how well Augie will get treated by them. Well, not particularly well I imagine.
21:49 You know, months ago I DID tell you that all those rocket launchers on the Archer are volatile periphery-junk and you should go for SRM instead, right? But you elected not to listen.
Oh for sure, it is a mech with a specific purpose. Since we are in clan space, getting their SRMs should work real nice. I'm thinking fully loaded clan SRM 4s?
Leave the glass shards embedded in the kick boots. If I must kick, let them eat shards. To the front! Should I sing for the broken mechs in the repair bays so they know they are still loved?.
I think they'll allow the singing if there is a good single malt as well!
I think it's looking good. Nice vid mate.
It's a bit simple but enough for this Battleship. Glad you think it's looking good so far. Cheers!
If it is multiplayer, you don't even need to do misclicks. Just load us all in and we will pew pew kill one another just for the LULS =D. "Don't worry, you'll be fine."
Well i guess were the "First Members" who see that Ship with his Green Onion Ring and Green Rooms...
Oh hey, 4x C-LRM 15s. That's a solid random roll. Oh the Sidewinder, that's a very odd mech that, if I remember right, was a foreign magazine mech from the old days of battletech that wasn't canon. If you look closely you can obviously see the Timberwolf torso and legs, but if you look even closer you can see the sides and left arm of a Mad Dog, and a right arm of a Summoner. It's so ramshackle love it. I remember getting one and it filling the same niche as a Timberwolf, but with built in Jump Jets and a slightly faster run speed because it had MASC despite a smaller engine, which gave it roughly the same movement profile and firepower as a usual Timberwolf, but also being able to jump while keeping open tonnage parity with the Timberwolf for weapons and other equipment, though it does run hot because of it. Also, fun fact, the Wolfhound is a canon magazine mech.
Yeah I am impressed with what's packing in that thing. Goes to show what the weight savings of clan LRMs can do, even if the range is a bit lacking. So that Sidewinder is a bit of a frankenmech then? What a combo of stuff on it. Hmm, the Wolfhound (assuming any variant we get has the laser slots) could serve as a nice BA killer with a bunch of M lances on it. Then again, quite a few mechs probably could. It would be nice to have one more light on the roster at some point too since we have so few, not that we necessarily need them.
Dance the Harlech Kick. They will fall over from fear (or laughter). At least they were on their backside. Brilliant episode.
They got kicked about quite a bit, especially from our Battle Armour!
Tiria: ”Montmarault is actually one of those planets where different clans fought for possession. Originally Steel Vipers fought Jade Falcons and won. Last year they fought again and Jade Falcons won and kicked the Vipers out. Of course, the Inner Sphere Houses would like to meddle with them even more. So I had to babysit this godforsaken Comstar geegaw with all the juryrigged recording equipment under my posterior. Chaving was… unpleasant. And still obviously Comstar Gargoyle. At least they replaced the ad spiel channel with recording node. And of course the armament was pitiful compared to what I am used to. And of course someone had found out, with Rimmers getting involved. But if those are really Rim Worlds Republic mechs, the rumors about Republic’s recent resurgence are real. At least they and Jade Falcons begun to fight each other. I barely made any dent to that Viper or Guillotine. At least boss made the pilot of the latter quit. Then that Phoenix jumped onto me and in the middle of us. Abtakha used the opportunity to order his batle armor group to haraas it. When it fell down, somebody else begun to bombard me. So I retreated and shot at something. Augie then finished the Phoenix but hurt our battle armor group in the process. Reach at least finished the last one. Somebody get this stupid sensor node out of my - ”
Must have been frustrating with limited fire power. In all fairness, you made the gauss shots count. Well don't worry, it's back to your usual duo. Unless Comstar capture some odd variant of a Hunchback...
The rate of recovery of the Elementals turned out to be quite astounding - perhaps a side-effect of their creation. Either way, Alexander Hazen and his men were up and about within two weeks and eager to prove themselves. During transit to the new destination, Ranek had split his time between overseeing Ripjack’s ongoing training for the Dragon Fire, overseeing the refits on his mechs, and speaking with Alexander and his star of elementals. To their credit, the elementals kept remarks about Ranek’s age to a minimum - probably mostly because his exploits were still fresh in their memories. Nine times out of ten Ranek would find the elementals in the gym, working hard toward restoring their peak physical condition after their injuries. As it stood they were capable of fighting, but their abilities were currently still somewhat diminished. However, when the call to arms came, the Elementals nonetheless were the first to the mech bay and where already suited up by the time the other pilots arrived to run their pre-deployment checklists. “Alexander!” Ranek called out over the noise in the bay, before pointing at the Marauder he would be field-testing today “Your star is going to ride with me today. Mount up when you are ready.” As it turned out, the elementals were already pushing themselves off the deck and floating over onto the Marauder as soon as the old Lyran had finished speaking. By the time he got to his cockpit, Alexander was dangling from a handhold near the cockpit hatch and said: “You are getting slow, old man.” to which Ranek responded with a chuckle, taking the remark in good humor. “I may be slow, Alexander Hazen, but I am still a better shot than any of you.” Down on the planet Ranek advanced as part of the rest of the unit, but when he had the opportunity, he locked his sensors onto the only enemy target in rage, identifying it as a Viper, which subsequently gets heavily damaged - as does a Hellbringer with battle-armor aboard. Then, a Sun Spider is being spotted. And while Ripjack delivers support fire against all three of these targets, Ranek moves in and delivers a textbook kill-shot on the largely undamaged enemy mech. “See?” Ranek asked over the private frequency with Alexander, who in turn laughed approvingly “Nice shot, but if you keep taking down targets before they get to close, we will not be able to show what we can do, old man.” To which Ranek simply answered: “You will get your chance - as I promised. Worry not.” As if to put an exclamation mark on his sentence, the beam of a bombast laser zipped past his cockpit window, followed by low-caliber gauss impacts on his armor. “Well, that felt like Magshot Rifles. I’d like a couple of those.” he remarked as he advanced toward the Septicemia and took a shot at it. Unfortunately it was facing largely away from him, which ruined his aim, but the firepower he unleashed was enough to rip off the enemy mech’s arm. He then moved closer to the remaining Phoenix and said to Alexander: “I have a juicy target for your star. The Phoenix to our left. Have fun!” meanwhile he unleashed a full salvo against an enemy Stormcrow The elementals did not need to be told twice and laid into the target with gusto. Unfortunately for them, however, Augie’s targeting system seems to have had a glitch, and caused the Rashnu to fire on the wrong target, injuring one of the elemantals and eliciting a tirade about betrayal from Alexander Hazen. It took Ranek a good while to convince the elemental that this was merely a severe mistake, not malice. Eventually the elemental relented, but was still clearly fuming over this incident. No doubt Augie would need to make amends after this battle. After getting shot at by the Clanners Alexander made a hasty retreat back aboard Ranek’s mech who then advanced and split his fire between a damaged missile-carrier and another enemy mech, destroying the former and damaging the latter. While the rest of the unit mopped up the remaining targets, Ranek was busy calming the elementals to ensure they would not run off and try to kill Augie for his mistake.
Thanks for explaining that er, mishap to Alexander, just awful timing and overall context as to what happened there. That Sunspider is quite impressive isn't it? I think we will have to bag one of those some time!

Make certain Succubus has a gyro-stabilized shock absorber added to the rear view mirror in her mech. I also recommend she be assigned a mech with higher armor values. Also ... what? A 70 ton mech with 4 15-slot AND 2 20-slot LRMs???? Hm. Seems like just like XCom2, this game likes to cheat. I hope you can capture the Sunspot with all 5 pieces. Seems like a good target for a head shot. Aaaand yes! I called it ! =)
That Sunspot sure got my attention! Had to have a go at acquiring it!
Excellent attempt at the fight, it is definitely on the harder side of battles the game throws at you. What I would recommend is abandoning all kinetic weapons since phase ships don't have shields and instead mount high explosive or energy weapons. IR Autolances and High Intensity lasers are particularly devastating in this fight because the continuous beam subdues them in phase space causing them to flux out. If you can get your hands on Hydra DEMs or Locust Swarmers for your large missile slots this would also help you out significantly. Great video either way. Good luck with your next attempt 👍
Thank you! This is very useful info indeed, I think I picked up a few Hydra DEMs recently, I'll put those and energy weapons to good use for next time. Feeling a bit more confident now!
WoW the OG Squad before all the Drunken Id*ots came in
24:15 Not a good video? I disagree.. it is you facing a challenge. Phase fleets are nasty in so many ways.. Yes, their endurance is relatively shirt, but in that time they can deal horrific damage. That said, I am half-tempted to give you spoilers toward concluding the mission, but only if you ask for them. That said, several Paragons and several Legions can deal with that kind of firepower - but casualties will be suffered in the attempt. Onslaught could also make short work of an overfluxed Doom, because it too can dish out a lot of damage. 35:50 I sincerely hope you remembered to bring 1000 units of transuranics with you on that trip... you are going to need them. 36:49 a bummer that you didn't go exploring with all that fuel you have brought along... you have plenty for a little ..excursion. You never know who or what you might encounter this far out in the dark... 37:26 those nascent gravity wells are the ones you can drop into with a transverse jump. Could have found something fun there.. 55:12 Congratulations on obtaining a (single-use) gate-to-go. Before you leave that system make sure to collect the wormhole anchor there and then fly over manually to limbo to obtain the other! You can then use both anchors later on to create a wormhole bridge between two systems in addition to deploying the gate in your chosen colony-system. I typically used the wormhole as either a connection between my colonies and the core systems, or my colonies and the opposite side of the sector. You now have one of the two keys to a logistical transit system second to none. The other you obtain at the end of the Academy arc.
Would you advise trying to 'wait them out'? Wait for their CR to get so low they slow down and become less threatening. Is that a valid strat? I'm a bit stuck on how to proceed. Hopefully the military stores have refreshed so we can get another Paragon. Ah on the way back from Limbo I'll have a look at that nascent gravity well. That sounds interesting and maybe have a small explore. Just a little bit ;) I was thinking we can set up a colony anywhere now with this wormhole option. Oh thanks for reminding me to take the anchor. I absolutely would have forgotten.
@ anchors - plural. you can and should take both of them As for nascent gravity well on the way, go for it. you can also do the same with those Abyssal Lights by the way... See if something pokes back if you poke them. You are in an area of deep mystery. As for the phase fleet you ran into, I don't think that strategy would work. You would incur way too much attrition in the process while twiddling your thumbs. Instead I'd suggest going with overwhelming capital-grade firepower and hit them while they are high on flux. My typical deployment in the first wave of such encounters is a pair of Paragons, a pair of Legion XIV (or normal Legion if necessary) and then either an Onslaught or another Legion. The idea being, those capitals - the Paragons in particular - can take a beating and support one another. If a Doom is suitably close, hit it with everything you have, but if not clear out the smaller ships first. Their damage does add up quickly and the phase-destroyers tend to run heavy on ion-weapons which can make a mess of your fleet.. In fact with such a heavy lineup it may even be preferable to go after the small fry first, because the big fellas can weather much of the incoming firepower. And once the small ships are dealt with you can replace losses with your Auroras and go hunting for the Dooms Also, you will want to capture as many of these phase ships as you can. Because you can take them over with those built-in hullmods already installed. Which is quite useful and saves you story points occasionally you can also find other derelicts in the game that have such mods built-in on top of what the type usually has.
Send in the glaives! The enemy will run!
Even though those fights were tough, you sure made it hard for them!
Bug in the Thunderbolt, and Big Red in the Atlas against the Elementals, bay-bee!
Tiria: ”Jade Falcons again. Apparently Steel Vipers are too weak to deal with their fief themselves and have to let the big boys try to take over the small places. Well, our ex-elemental is not the first Clan person who has changed sides for more equitable treatment. ”
There's a handful of builds for the Elementals. My personal favorite is a support crit machine with 10-15x Avengers and SMGs, a turret or BA beacon, and whatever weapons can fit with the free tonnage, usually firedrakes or C-BA flamers. Normally they would dismount, drop a beacon while behind cover once they have the morale, usually an LRM turret on a mountain or BA in the middle of the enemy formation, remount, and start meleeing enemy mechs (not mounting) to drop EV to 0. Latching runs the risk of, once the mounted mechs are destroyed when BA is mounting, of the BA also getting destroyed, the only problem is that this is a 3 turn process only really good for prolonged or SNAFUd engagements, though it does make the BA more survivable since it's main role is to call reinforcements. BA beacons are really good at dropping enemy EV to 0 and Turrets are great at sandpapering heavier mechs, with both being great distractions when dropped in the open. The other build is 10x BA-LBXs with the armor shaved off as a crit machine, usually carried by a Viper with a prodigious amount of MGs tied to an array or ER Smalls going for backshots. Instead of mounting the enemy mechs the BA dismounts and shoots at the rear once the opposing mech is rear open for engine crits. Other mechs are more suited for this though, like the Golem, Ravager, or Marauder, all of which has more tonnage to play with usually having more armor and an extra 5 more BA-LBXs.
interesting idea. My original proposal was to just replace the laser on them with a King David gauss rifle but leave them otherwise as they are. Reason being, these are likely going to be deployed in combination with either of our Marauders which have a pretty long range (hence the KDGR), working as essentially perimeter defense to take down mechs that get too close or exploit breaches in targets nearby.
Wow putting a beacon in there is something I never considered! Now I'll have to give that some serious thought for future builds. I think I'm going to get a few elementals, since they are a bit squishy, although these ones are fantastic. Those Avengers sound like real crit machines too. Thanks for your input, certainly some options for me to consider here.
when using the Horskr to transport my Gunslinger Mk 3, please don't keep it up there all the time. I'd rather be on the ground and just use the airlift to get up cliffs or avoid other obstacles... there is just too much precious stuff built into that mech to risk with a heli-accident... 1:03:57 I've been thinking about replacing the ES-S-Lasers with King David Gauss Rifles for double the range - because I tend not to get too close to my targets. But the problem I see in that is that the KDGR also are volatile like all other gauss weapons - which may result in unwanted additional attrition. Don't get me wrong, the laser is solid as is with its +1 accuracy. If you indeed go for that heat-elemental build with the second set, that you had mentioned, then I would instead opt for equipping Alexander's star with support ppc and double Avengers instead of laser and SRM (the second set of avengers sourced from the other squad of elementals) all that said, the original build is indeed quite formidable and finely balanced. As the incident with the Crab very impressively illustrated.
Not just "Axeman" Welsh Axeman! Brilliant episode! Not just for house Arano, for the Princess of Wales!
It was Axstastic!
Tiria: ”The last time I heard, Jabuka is controlled by Clan Steel Viper and their elementals were instrumental in defeating FedCom forces. And both sides of the split would like to hurt them and have us eliminate their generals. But those we faces were from Jade Falcon. Fire Moth was rather broken already when I finished it. Half of that battle armor unit managed to dodge the beams but I saw couple of torsos vaporize. Then I saw Stencil actually hit them. Good for him. Not much left for Meerkat to wipe out. And then elementals got Succubus. At least we thought so but the lady is too tough to die with one shot. Ripjack immediately begun to bombard them. Then Augie killed them. Then Hedhunter took the hed of that Mad Dog. I rushed to have a shot at the Hellbringer. Not that easy to deal with. I did managed to knock it down and the pilot bailed out. It turned out that their general also was piloting another Gargoyle. Ripjack begun to soften it up but then Headhunter took the head. Quite a feat from that distance. I had no idea what that Kit fox registered as being, apparently some ancient actor but I assume it was someone’s idea of comedy. Stupid techs are going to be very quiet about Succubus’ bosom for some time or I am going to do the wedgies myself. ”
That Kit Fox situation really puzzled me. Must have been some kind of back story with that rogue mech appearing and advancing on us solo. Right weirdos around here.
It'll be pertinent to load tandem munitions and piercing while in clan space. A single elemental has only 5 structure, so a mech with 24 SRMs loaded with tandems will usually kill 2-4 elementals out of the 5, accounting for DR values, making the remaining a relative non-issue on the battlefield unless they melee. Also tandems still has a minuscule chance of crits and since Clan omnis all have XLs they actually have an increased average to incur engine crits since the engine is spread out to all 3 torso parts, though it is antithetical for engine farming. Personally I'd play keep away instead of rushing forward, prioritizing mechs that're carrying BA. Succubus' side getting destroyed is the best case scenario out of the bad situation. If the BA latched, hit with the melee attack, and didn't destroy the side it would've knocked EV to 0, very likely causing all of the mechs to prioritize fire onto the Crab, which usually result in a CT destruction and a dead pilot when fighting the Clans. If you think a mech might be carrying BA, clicking the pips in the initiative order usually takes you to the unit and BA only ever takes their turn if they have something in range of either their guns or a melee latch, so normally they would just be active pips on the initiative order and are very noticeable if the mech they are riding has already taken their turn.. I'dve taken the 400 core since Clans more or less universally field their XL engines in their main line Omnimechs, with around half of their Battlemechs also rocking XL. Edit: Also, 7 months before the Kringle's Killer's event if it hasn't already been given.
I don't think we have tandem-ammo, but perhaps those M-Lances might be useful here, don't you think? Same for LAC with piercing ammo
Good points, it might be worth having a Battle Armour killer variant of a mech. Perhaps one of those Orion we have might be a good should. I don't think we have any tandem but will keep an eye out. Yeah I wish I took the 400 core since it's the first time I've seen one available. Could be a long time before another one comes up.
Ah. Now that's got me thinking. Perhaps a humble Javelin with 5 m lances that is strictly used for cleaning up BA?
@Chimpy13 come to think of it... maybe, just maybe lances plus drm might work here too. Not sure
@Chimpy13 careful with light mechs against Clanners...
Viona Succubus was in the back of her mech, in the washroom of the Crab squeezing out a dump. Her mech had also been hit while she was completing her makeup in the rear view mirror. That would need a touch up. While she was finishing up, the entire right side of the mech blew up. Metal, glass and plastic flew through the opening as if pushed by a hurricane, followed immediately by flames. Viona and the metal restroom were thrown clear of the mech as it began its inevitable fall, fortunately in another direction. A layer of soft snow cushioned the back part of the mech head as it landed next to a tree. "Best to keep quiet and play possom," Viola thought as she watched the rest of the battle through a crack in the structure. Viona later got an award, the Chimpy Award for being "just fine" after the battle.
Hahaha now that's how I would like to think it happened!
Amazing pilot story regarding Succubus. Lots of tension leading right up to the end.
I was sure she was gone, the math says she should have been I think. To keep her AND the mech is somewhere between 10-20% chance I think. What a result!
Brilliant head shot about halfway through!
which one? Gotta say I am mightily impressed with the performance of this build. just the heat buildup needs some more work
Headhunter was pretty focused huh ;)
@@Chimpy13 to be fair, I was putting on a show to impress the Clanners. And unfortunately there is only one thing they respect: martial prowess.
After descending the mountain they got dropped onto, Ranek is kept busy locking targets for his lancemates. But while he does so, he broadcasts a challenge on the open frequency: „Members of Clan Jade Falcon! Long ago I served with the 10th Lyran Guards. A name you are no-doubt well familiar with as it was one of them who buried the Falcon Guard on Twycross. In honor of your customs I offer a challenge to any of your number who wish to accept it. I am looking for what you call Bondsmen. While my companions may not be as well-versed in your ways, I have studied you and offer you this honor. Just a word of warning: Back in the 10th Guards I earned a name you should pay attention to: I am called ‘Headhunter’. Come for me if you dare!” It did not take long for the pilot of a Phantom to publicly accept Ranek’s challenge - only to be swiftly met by a pair of laser beams from Ranek’s Bombast Lasers, followed by a salvo from his Rotary Autocannon, which reduced the enemy mech’s cockpit to scrap. Then, an enemy Nova tried its luck, shooting its gauss rifle at the old Lyran, but deals little damage. And on its second shot the pilot misses completely. However, buoyed by their elementals taking down Succubus’ mech, a pilot of a Mad Dog intercedes and also opens fire on Ranek - completely disregarding the Clanners’ honored tradition of dueling. “Well, be my guest then, if you are so eager to die.” Ranek announces over the open frequency before pulling the trigger and delivering the same result he had with the Phantom earlier - only this time the enemy’s cockpit got vaporized by one of the Bombast Lasers instead of getting torn to shreds by shells. “Elemental Point Commander! Can you hear me? You fought honorably. What is your name?” Through heavy static from a damaged radio there is a reply - albeit more of an angry snarl: “I am Point Commander Alexander Hazen, freeborn scum!” To which Ranek merely responded with a chuckle. “Hazen, hm? You have done your ancestor proud today. Well fought. Now, we shall speak again shortly - but for now I have another member of your warrior-caste to take care of for shooting at me.” With that he took a shot at the Nova - which then only needed another nudge from Augie to prompt an ejection. After that it is some minor repositioning before the main target comes into his view. And since the pilot of the Gargoyle had not even deigned Ranek worthy of responding to the Lyran’s challenge, Ranek in turn sees no reason to hesitate and pulls the trigger - vaporizing another cockpit. With that handled, and while the others were raining destruction upon the remaining Kit Fox, Ranek once more opened the frequency to the elementals they had beaten - who now lay at the feet of the assembled mechs. “That’s it done. Alexander Hazen, in accordance with Clanner tradition I, Ranek Eisenkralle hereby take you and your surviving men as bondsmen. You will serve Chimpo’s Banana Banditos and be under my direct command from this moment forward. If you accept this, I will see that you get the chance to prove yourselves on the field of battle again. Refuse and I will have you sent back to your clan in shame. What is your answer?” A brief pause followed - likely spent in conversation among the elementals, to find consensus. Eventually Hazen replied: “Aff. We accept.” To this Ranek solemnly said: “Good. We will speak more while you recover in our medbay, but I after that you will take to the field again as - I believe your word for it is ‘Abtakha’. Welcome to the Banana Banditos.”
Well done. Hope us 'freeborns' can keep up with him on the battlefield. We didn't lose a mech or a pilot today when we arguably should have and also we able to hire one? A good day to be a Banana Bandito and a 'Freeborn' as well ;)
@Chimpy13 The 'trueborn' Clanners would probably vehemently and possibly violently disagree. And even without their armor, a Clanner Elemental is not someone you want to face ina brawl. Let alone five of them. These guys are quintessential murder-hobo shocktroops.
Is she Irish? Did Darby O'Gill and the little people protect her? She must have the luck of the Irish. No time in the Medbay?! Brilliant episode. Thanks for the Glaive chop. It made my day.
If you liked the chopping today, just wait until next time!
11:00 That right there is a perfect example as to why I recommended you not to sleep on our logistical capabilities. Like the Horskr and/or the ammo truck and such... The two Horskr alone would have made getting out troops down that mountain a cakewalk... 42:55 Well.. I do distinctly remember warning you about Elementals.... Truth be told, these guys were an absolute terror on the battlefields of the Clan Invasion. These guys have no fear whatsoever of their enemy's equipment, and absolute faith in theirs - and with good reason.
Elementals Are fantastic, I didn't realise how many weapon slots they have as well, so getting a second one is totally on the cards for me. I'm imagining a compliment to the heat generation line-up...
@@Chimpy13 that would be a waste of their potential though
It's coming along well. Nice vid mate.
Thanks! I want to speed things up if I can and get back to finishing Reforged Eden (in some form anyway) Cheers!
I don't know were this comes from but I thought a CV was a cruiser and a battleship was a BB? Can they fire Glaive torpedoes as well as Sea Sparrow missiles? Brilliant design!
Ah in this it's CV for Capital Vessel. More the type of object I'm building. This is still a Battleship for sure though.
