Azolla is an aquatic plant that is used as livestock feeds supplement. * *How to establish an azolla farm** 1. Construct a pond the size of your choice 2. Add water, fully decomposed goat manure, little amount of d.a.p depending on the size of your pond 3. After 3-5 days you introduce azolla seeds *Benefits* 1. Azolla is a valuable protein source(20-30% crude protein), containing essential amino acids, vitamins (such as B12, beta carotene, and vitamin A), minerals (like calcium, phosphorous, potassium), and biopolymers 2. Grows rapidly once planted in a well fertilized pond ensuring food security for poultry, piggery, dairy, rabbits and fish 3. You buy seeds once since upon maturity you harvest and the remaining azolla continues to reproduce asexually by producing spores 4. Cuts down cost of production in livestock farming significantly to between 50-60%. This is because you cut use of commercial feeds to 1/2 or less as you mix azolla with jst a little amount of commercial feeds. 5.
