Besiege | Tick Damage Removal (NaN rocket)
This video demonstrates how to prevent blocks which usually take tick damage from taking tick damage.
How does this work?
Place a rocket near the block that needs to be tick proofed, set its power to NaN, pin any blocks in the blast radius to prevent them from being sent to NaN location, explode the rocket once in sim, unpin the blocks near the rocket, the blocks in the rocket's AoE will now be impervious to tick damage.
What is tick damage?
A form of damage caused generally by explosions and special contact damage (e.g. drill or jaw). Tick damage can cause blocks which have infinite break force (meaning you can't pull them off or knock them off) to break.
How is this important?
The cannon is one of the most useful blocks as it does a lot of damage. But its weakness is tick damage as if it receives any, it would fall off. Tick proofing it means it cannot fall off, making it better.
Important aspects to remember.
*Going to NaN is very very very bad. Avoid unpinned blocks near the rocket (as seen in the video of the water cannon)
*If your camera goes to NaN as a result of it focused on a block that went to NaN, your game becomes soft locked and will likely crash or need a restart.
Sorry for the cog asmr, I kind of forgot about it so now there is a brrrr noise in the video.
I made a slight mistake, I didn't know that watercannons cannot be pinned, so I wasted time trying to pin the water cannon on camera oops...
(currently, as of 7/7/2024, it is possible to use the variable editor to copy the value NaN into any slider, but in the future if this was fixed, file editing would be needed assuming this NaN rocket technology is not broken by a future update)
This technology was discovered by user Remilia.
(Or at least I was informed of this technology by them)

(Honestly a pretty bad tutorial video) Demonstration is at the end. This video is just me building a proof-of-concept battleship using the new Splintered Sea DLC. The concept to be proved is that heavy things can float (using "new" tech) The "new" tech is just attaching barrels with very high buoyancy with heavy surfaces. I speed up the video a lot, kinda unwatchable for a guide, mainly because...

Besiege | Spinblock "version" modding

I randomly decided to look through the .bsg file of a spinblock (block 22). It oddly had a "version" variable, which are generally given when the block is change to improve the game but devs want to maintain backwards compatibility with older saves. Version 0 spinblocks at low acceleration allows you to spin them in either direction (regardless of "limit speed") These also spin up faster than v...

New sorta tech/discovery, its cleaver usage of AI units to make them act like artillery. very basic atm, hopefully it'll get better soon. This video demonstrates a somewhat new technology/technique of constructing wheels. It uses a block with mass variable and attaches log fragments onto the block. (It may be possible to use surface fragments, but those are hard to control now ever since the 64bit update). These log fragments help approximate a circle which makes the rolling motion smoother. The approximated wheel shape is then a...

This video shows the construction of spinblock based tracks. These tracks are based on the idea of a chain of spinblocks which can simulate the hinges used to create standard besiege track. The benefit of spinblock tracks is its strength compared to regular track designs (e.g. hinge, ball joint, etc.) as spinblocks have a mechanical trigger with infinite breakforce. Because spinblock colliders ...

The piston's "pink" connection sphere (assuming you are using colliderscope) should be the one that attaches to the ballast (assuming you are talking about the ballast which holds the cannon). To make it reach, turn on advanced building (which is under the cog menu) and use the translation tool (the one with 4 arrows) to move the ballast into the range of the spheres. Scale the blocks accordingly so that they fit.

I think smooth surface is better and this is corroborated by other people's testing. But I haven't done any conclusive testing so I cannot say much on the matter. As in regards to the video, I just chose barrels randomly, not for the fact that they are superior in performance.

It uses a block that is attached to the intangible machine which always faces the intangible machine due to tension in a rope. This system no longer functions as an update broke it.

    • @yekt-yayekt
      @yekt-yayekt 6 місяців тому

Thanks, if you want, you can dissect the workshop file. The basic idea of spin block treads is just that they're slightly angled so they can attach to each other (because compared to hinges their connection trigger is in the center). Although the rotation may seem bad, but the few degrees (compared to the zero angling of hinges) is actually okay and enables them to function, perhaps even better than hinges.
