Today at 26 years old after four years in the security field, I got a job offer to be a district manager at one of the biggest security contractors in my country in this district they have about 300 guards and cannot wait to start first day it will be October 16, October 15 will be my last day as a security supervisor. mentor doesn't typically have anything to do with the academy but if you don't like your mentor just request a new one and report the one that isn't being a mentor..

I didn't the Swift Academy thing too. My first mentor was a real jerk. He had a fancy truck and didn't want me to break anything. I actually had to remove my shoes to go into the back. Luckly, he was leaving Swift to go out on his own. He said that he drove for eight years, but on our first run, he hit a dumpster, like some freaking' rookie. The second week, I got a great mentor and everything worked out fine. My advice is leave your mentor, if you don't get along. If not, you'll have a miserable time, and your training will suffer.

hello I just wanted to see if you have any tips for me. I am new to truck driving. I am just getting my CDL permit. can you tell me what to expect. what I need to know. I am still trying to find a company to go for. i have to pick one that helps train. as I don't have Money to go to a private school. who do you work for if I may ask? and do you have a face book. or something that I can fallow you. or even if I may text you. I am sorry I don't want to big you its just that I am new getting into this. thank you for your time.

hey bro, yeah I live in New Mexico now. you've got to be prepared for all kinds of weather out here in the West. sounds like you're hanging tough though. I understand it's tough being away from your family being way out west. being that I'm from upstate New York I understand. but I gotta tell you hang in there man you can make good money and you get to see the country while being paid to do so. and once your daughter gets a little older I think the age limit is 12 I think but anyways you know you can take your daughter out with you to travel a little bit but before that you know if you can have some family watch your daughter your wife can go out on the road with you for a week or two get a chance to travel around the country while you're getting paid to do it. the missing your family thing is not going to go away with trucking more than likely you'll be out on the road for stretches of 3 weeks or more at least. but after a while like big country you could get a regional local job and be home every night or every other night at least. keep your head up though man hang tough. just keep it in mind that this is for your family and you. hopefully it all works out for you. you've done a great job so far being there for almost a month now. not knowing that you would be there that long or even thinking that you might be I'm sure. but just remember after you get your CDL class A you can get a driving job back home like I said that will have you home most every night and still make good money so hang in there brother. you got a fellow New Yorker out here in the West rootin for you. I hope you're studying so you don't fail that test that'd be a lot of wasted time if you did. and you don't want to go home having failed. but relax I studied and I test myself periodically through an online testing source it's actually a website called TRUCKING truth.com if you haven't heard of it you should check it out you can do your practice test that way but I hear swift gives you a practice test to practice so whatever you can do man just practice believe me you'll pass it'll just come to you after you've practiced you'll see the questions and know the answers. good luck to your brother once again can't wait to hear from you again. and to find out that you passed your test. looking forward to it. your fellow New Yorker Greg
