WMGL: Frankie "The Big Bopper" Green (12/28/2013)
One of the best DJs in Charleston, South Carolina radio was Magic 107.3 WMGL's Frankie Green, who passed away April 18, 2018. Here's some in-studio video I shot of him on December 28, 2013. Rock on Big Bopper!

Oh my goodness. This is great!
7 years late but I still enjoy watching radio being made.
RIP Wayne Perkey. 1938-2022.
Is your studio in New York? It is nice to see that broadcast radio is taking great advantage of computer technology, thanks to the microcomputer. I am an audiophile, a fan of microcomputer technology, and a user doing special typewriting.
Community Radio is sorely missed. Different voices were heard. People knew what was going on in their communities. We need to find a way to bring this type of radio back.
TV weathermen are the lowest of the low and Chris Allen from WBKO 13 Bowling Green Kentucky is the lowest of the low now I don't know if Earl Pitts is still on in the morning on WBVR 96.7 but he was for the longest time
I don't understand. I have the same microphone and microphone shock mount and yet I still don't sound anywhere near as good as Cheri Preston!
The girl on the album cover...what was her name? Terry perhaps? I think she used to work at East Bay Trading Co. back in the day.
Scooby-dooby-doo!

I worked in radio for a long time. We were an ABC affiliate. I listened to these guys do a newscast, literally, a thousand times...or more. Never had any idea what their studio looked like.
This is real radio! We are a proud ABC affiliate in North Dakota!
0:57 RARE UNUSED
WoW !!! I heard the Full Version of Surfer Joe When Jim Played it at the Cup in San Gabriel , I was a Kid so I think it was 71-72??? My Brother was Friends With Jim. He told Me He last talked to Jim in the early 90s...
Thank God Elaine changed the lyric to "Children" instead of Squirrel!! It's still a very favorite song of mine. Would loved to hear the whole interview though.
Bill Sharpe Gets A Phone Call, But Nobody Answers. At 2:10, Tim Lake Lip Synching: But What It Is?
I saw the title and had to click. I think if Geraldo as a bit of a buffoon, but he did well enough.
WOKE Could've transferred into FM.
I heard a singing ebs test back in the 70's before it was banned
Is there any more info on this band? It seems they released one album in 83. Songwriter was mainly Paul Hood but no info comes up on Google or Newspapers search? Was this single indicative of their overall sound?
Excellent work for age16.
He was one of the greatest American singers who ever lived! It’s so great to hear his personality. He seamed like a Prince of a Man🌔
Cheri is a Pro. I miss John Belmont and many of the great Radio Pros. ABC's left leaning writing tho keeps me at Bay.
I grew up in Louisville , Kentucky and BILL BAILEY "THE DUKE OF LOUISVILLE" was my favorite !!! He was on AM 790 WAKY radio from the 1960's to the 1970's . Unfortunately in the early 1970's , listeners switched over to the FM stations to hear AOR (ALBUM ORIENTED ROCK) music rather than the somewhat boring format of "TOP 40" radio and AM radio lost a lot of listeners . I am smiling just at hearing that familiar voice again ! It had been rumored that if "THE DUKE" visited your restaurant and loved your food , he would advertise your business for free (Note that radio stations rely on paid audio advertisements to keep them in business) . Businesses loved BILL BAILEY !
I wonder where she is now
I remember Nina, grew up in Charleston SC.
Geez, take a breath! This guy sure loves to hear himself talk. How annoying. "Bluh-luh-luh-luh. uhblulla. Blulla-lulla-bluh." Slow down for god's sake.
Ardan radio
Great air check

If I had a video like this, I would add the crackle grain sound effects 1958-1994 with sounds of Drum set, Trumpet, Saxophone, Trombone
Jingle for Package Cut 1:26
Wonder if coyote was working for WAMZ if he voiced track for 102.5 The Bull? He actually was on 102.5 in 1988 when now current WZBQ calls for now (94.1 ZBQ) was used on that channel
Obviously influenced by Bette Midler's version of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B"
"Boogie woogie" EBS test... Ha!

Harry had a sign over the board upstairs on the back of Gloria Theatre that read: "IF IN DOUBT DON'T DO IT, DON'T SAY IT AND FOR GOD SAKE DON'T PLAY IT!" I was one of the DJs at Armed Services YMCA that built a full audio console that rolled up in a pickup truck from the Y. We produced a tape reel every week WOKE played for the Y. When Harry sold a remote, we took the whole console to the client's place so the public could see live radio on the air via telephone radio loop. As Harry was active with the Charleston Coastal Fair, we wired a balanced mic jack at every booth across the old fairgrounds. Long, long mic lines were strung out across the midway for other promos. One year I did a live broadcast from the trailer of Siamese twins connected at the waist. That promo made long lines to see the teen twins in their tent! Another great live promo I did was sitting on a 4X4 over the open top of the motorcycle daredevil that drove fast around the inside of the big barrel! We taped a mic into his helmit and he talked to our radio audience while performing live! My part ways controlling the mic cable. We also interviewed horses/cows/pigs/chickens and all the vendors. Just bring a 12' mic and plug it into the Wonderful WOKE Radio feedpoint... This was about 1966-69. We ran the station from the #1 booth WOKE Armed Services YMCA headquarters.
The jingles by TM Productions was also used for WBZ NewsRadio 1030 in Boston.
