The stabbing was a good example for the orgins of the saying, “sent him up the river”. Back in mountain man/fur trapper days, the best knives were made by the Green River Knife Company and Green River was prominently stamped on every blade. If you got into a fight and stabbed your opponent to death, you said you sent him up the river, because the knife went so far in him that it was up to the word “river”. Rick sent the rapist up the river with Joe’s knife.
What I liked about this scene is that earlier Rick told Gareth about his bag of supplies and weapons, and told him "There's a red machete in it. I'm going to kill you with that" and then he pulls out the red machete to kill him here. The way it plays out is amazing, it's such a shame the show went so far downhill after this, fucking boomerang storytelling
groups based on the "survival of the fittest" principal always fall apart. love how thats explored in this show. thinking that because they're the biggest fish, they can take and kill as much as they want. problem with that is there is no "biggest fish", theres always one bigger. it all goes back to the golden rule; "do unto others as you would have done unto yourself", because others will do unto you as you have done unto them.
People said that Shane and the Governor was the character that changed Rick the most. Gareth and his group was the ones that show him that "no one gets to live".
Perfect retribution. The real reason Rick didn't kill Gareth right away is because he wanted Gareth to feel the same way he made his victims feel. Desperate, fearful and alone.
To think that 2 seasons after that Rick would be the one kneeling and begging for his life. The difference is that Rick did what Negan thought was unnecessary. In the end, badass Rick was right all along.
i always notice how glenn,maggie and tara are stood on the sidelines but still holding up their guns. They were shocked at rhe brutality of the kills but still wanted to protect their people. They did really well with this show, the actors/actresses are brilliant
I honestly don't get why the group looks so scared and petrified while Rick,Sasha, Abraham, and Michone are killing them. Like did you forgot what they tried to do to yall?
