Nice job my friend. Thanks for sharing that. 🥁🥁🥁
NEVER spending ten bucks every 6 spooks EVET AGAIN 😂😂😂😂. TOTAL RIP OFF. Now I can buy a few of these and be set for years lol. At a fraction of the shipping for the worx “free spools” scam 😂😂😂
Yeah, the "free spools for life" does seem a bit misleading and scammy. They can probably ship 6 spools for about 4 bucks, so you can figure you're paying 6 bucks (1 dollar per spool) for the actual spools plus the 4 bucks for shipping. Not a great deal. You can also buy pre-loaded spools from Amazon that are supposed to fit for much cheaper if you don't want to roll your own.
THIS is what I call help. All these other idiots keep showing the basics replacement like it’s sone newfound info 😂😂😂.
Yeah, I actually looked for a good video on this and had trouble finding one, so I decided to make one myself. Glad you found it helpful!
Seems like you could also just plug one of the two male ends into the female end if you don't have extras laying around.
That's absolutely correct, IF the cable is long enough. However, I routinely build these cables in shorter lengths than the one pictured in this video, and sometimes they're too short to plug one into the other like that. So I just keep an extra connector around to use for this purpose. You can see how much I've used this connector: much of the paint has worn off from being plugged & unplugged, LOL.
Thanks for this video. One thing I did wrong is not inserting from opposite side and bend it! But I wrapped 3 spools. I will have to remember for next time lol
Worx should redesign the spools making them larger. The current ones last one time.
You may find that refilling the spools with some different trimmer line will make them last longer. The trimmer line from Worx seems to be a much softer plastic than some other brands, which causes the spool to run out much faster. Using some tougher, stronger line will help.
Can I use square shape wire instead of round and automatic feed would still work?
Not sure about that. This stuff from Harbor Freight is 7-sided. If you already have some of the square-shaped line, you could try it, and I doubt that it would hurt anything. It just might not auto feed properly.
Thank you thank you thank you very much
Thanks for the video I’ve been dying to know if I can do the same, thanks 🙏
Yep, it took a bit of time, but if you keep at it, it will eventually start fading and come off!
Great tip.
Thank you so much for this video!!
Sure thing, glad to help!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for this. I’ve been looking for a way to mount my swivomatic toms on my DW double tom stand. It’s a shame Rogers doesn’t offer a 3/8 hex phenolic ball that we could just swap out.
Since I made this video, Rogers has introduced the new RDH7439-DBL - Ultra-Matic double tom mount with 7/8 inch tube. I've considered getting one of those and could use it in one of my Tama tom/cymbal stands, which also accept a 7/8" down tube. But yes, it would be great if they simply offered a 3/8 inch hex L-rod ball. Gibraltar makes a hex L-rod ball, but I think it's slightly too large for the Rogers mounts.
This was helpful, thanks!
Very helpful advice!
Thank you for your video. I love the ease of use and cordless operation, but the spools are ridiculously small. We have 1/4 acre, with a house, patio and shed on it, so not a huge yard. It takes at least 3 spools to trim and edge. They don't take them back for refilling? So, we just dump piles of these spools into landfills? I currently have a bag of about 20 empties. I was refilling my own, but it spits out a big chunk of that line every spool. I'll never make this mistake again. Other trimmer/edgers lasted 3 spools a year-not per mow!
So are you using the refill trimmer line from Harbor Freight or something else? How long are your refilled spools lasting compared to the spools from Worx? I haven't really kept a close eye on it, but I can say with certainty that the Harbor Freight trimmer line seems to last a lot longer. I'm not changing out the spools near as often now as what I used to.
@@silentskystudios The spools I rolled were line my husband got at Home Depot or Lowes. I finished those and am currently using Worx spools I got online. There's a Harbor Freight right down the road from us, so I am going to get what you use. Thanks again!
Same here, I am using .065 line and it does the same, very aggravating!
What these tiny little spools from Worxs are a piece of crap. You’re constantly rewinding them because 10 foot isn’t enough to do a regular size lawn. Come on what were they thinking?
Yeah, I feel like the plastic used for the trimmer line from Worx is too soft, which causes you to burn through the spools way too quickly. This stuff from Harbor Freight seems like the plastic is a little tougher/stiffer, which tends to make it last longer than the stuff from Worx.
And frankly, the "free spools for life" is a bit of a gimmick. By the time you pay for the shipping and handling, it's about 10 bucks for 6 spools. You can buy aftermarket refills on Amazon and get more spools for the same amount of money--although I can't attest to the quality of those after-market spools, as I've never tried them.
@@silentskystudios agreed. And it's annoying that they limit you to one bag per $10 order. I looked into the Amazon options last year. Ultimately, poor reviews convinced me to "roll my own." I've done that with previous trimmers, but I wasn't burning through 3 spools every week!
Wow...... I just purchased 20 pre-spooled spools on ebay for $3.50 🤯. Way better than restringing the 1 spool you have I think. Haven't received the spools yet so we'll see how good the line is
Thank you!
Glad to help!
I knew. I checked a ashley processor. Had a bad input and output. I trace the wires. The stereo output were shorted to makenit to a mono port.

Thanks! Ive got this mic and now know a little something valuable being an owner. Cheers!
Yeah is there any chance I could get the maybe some pictures of your repairs of the whole app so I can compare notes
Unfortunately I no longer have access to the amp. It belongs to my brother, and it went back to him shortly after it was repaired.
I also have the same amp🎉 and I'm having solder joints and why is that the soldiers come loose not really knowing where the wires go to they are blue by the way
I just wanna say to You hit the nail in my curiosity. I didn’t know that “To run 2 Outputs together would cause the equipment damage!” This actually happened to me 2 times and I was asking myself.. What is going on?… Now I learned from you that the 2 outputs make feedback towards each other… This is making a lot of sense… I was almost lose my equipment. Omg! I will go back to the studio… and stop the Amp’s output from the mixer… and I will connect the instruments and vocal microphones to the Amp. When I want to record, I will record by using a dynamic microphone 🎤 to the Amp and connect it to the mixer.. and from the mixer to the computer… That’s it M’Man..♥️🙂✌️🎩 the recording mic 🎤 will be Input into the mixer and the computer… and it will record what will be happening from the Amp’s Output! Yes
If I end up getting the Powertone in champaign sparkle I plan on running a gilbralter clamp attached to the double tom holder and then a short cymbal arm attached to the clamp. I contacted Rogers and they said that should work for a smaller crash.
Cool--that new double tom mount looks solid! I'm looking forward to checking one out!
I just picked up the Rogers Dyno-matic pedal and have real interest in the Powertone champaign sparkle kit. It appears to me Rogers is coming back and they are doing it right. Back in the 60's and maybe early 70's they were the cadillac of drums. Of course that is when cadillacs were quality. 😀
I used to say that same thing all of time: "Rogers used to be the Cadillac of drums!" But younger folks would just look at me kind of puzzled, LOL!
@@silentskystudios Younger folks. Can't live with them. Wish you could live without them. 😂
I thought I would take a moment to respond to a few negative comments that have been posted to this video. Since the 1980's, the Rogers brand name and logo had been used on cheap, low-quality, imported drums from China. In 2013, Joseph Chen, owner of Dixon Drums, acquired the Rogers name and intellectual property. If I remember correctly, Mr. Chen had a history with the brand dating back many years, including producing some hardware for them at some point in time. His vision was to restore the brand to what it had once been: producing innovative new drums and hardware with a vintage vibe. In 2017, they introduced the first new products: a line of snare drums and some replacement parts (e.g. lugs) for vintage Rogers drums. Since then, they have slowly and incrementally rolled out new products, including the Cleveland and Covington series drums, new stands and kick drum pedals, tom and floor-tom mounting systems, and more recently the Powertone and Tower series drum kits. As an owner of an early 70's Powertone kit, one of the things I appreciate the most is that they are producing many new hardware items that are also compatible with their vintage drums that use the original hole-mounting patterns--meaning you can upgrade broken items on your vintage drums without having to drill any new holes! They are slowly forging their own path as a brand, instead of simply copying what other brands are doing and using generic, cookie-cutter hardware. Also, their Cleveland and Covington kits are assembled here in the USA by Bill Detamore's team at Pork Pie Percussion. The more affordable lines (Powertone and Tower) are assembled in Taiwan. Many high-end drums from other brands (including Tama's Starclassic line) are now produced in China. So having some of their assembly operations in Taiwan simply makes sense to be competitive in today's market. In any case, I've been a Rogers enthusiast for many years, and in my opinion, it's exciting to see what's being done with the brand today (orignal drum and hardware designs with a nod to their vintage roots) compared to the name simply being used on cheap, mass-produced, imported drums. So my message to Rogers is this: keep up the good work!
Rogers drums in name only.
Five piece set… five piece set not four piece set shown on the brochure
If you look at the caption below the picture, it says "Powertone 4pc Kit...Shown with matching Snare Drum". So the snare is sold separately. I was reading the words right off the page.
@@silentskystudios : duly noted!
I believe Rogers drums started in 1849 as a calf drum head maker now all of their expensive drums are built in Taiwan! Jwm. Definitely overpriced😂
All components of Rogers made in Taiwan drums are assembled, beveled, covered and shipped from Los Angeles California. I believe pork pie. PERCUSSION has something to do with it at least they used to.
This company should have stayed gone....
Why would you say that?
Rogers is finally back in the drum 🥁 industry. Hopefully Slingerland can make a comeback too.
It's happening! Just give them some time: drummagazine.com/dw-buys-slingerland-drum-company-from-gibson/
umm.. i point at picture on youyube...?
Sorry, when I made the video, that's all that I had: the printed brochure. But I think it's exciting to see that the newly-reborn Rogers brand is continuing to slowly expand the product lines and offer the new mounts for people who want to upgrade the hardware on their vintage kits too.
Where would I find any replacement parts for one of these? I have the same Warhead combo and the effects board isn’t working and it’s missing a few of the EQ tips on the arms
I would try eBay or Reverb.
Brilliant explanation many thanks.
which resistor would you say is best the metal or carbon film, thankx 4 ur time.
I normally buy metal film, but I think either should work just fine.
must be good to use a Mills MRA-5
This makes me think it would be a good investment to place a surge protector in front of any equipment or amps. I wonder if there would be any noise issue with surge protectors...
Yes! I would definitely recommend using a surge protector. In fact, at that same gig, it also blew one of our PA power amps, but our bass player was using a regular old "power strip" with built-in surge protection. The power spike fried his surge protector, but it protected his bass amp! So it's definitely a cheap insurance policy to try and protect your amp!
@@silentskystudios yikes! After losing numerous electronics at home, I now pay the power company for whole house surge protection and it has been well worth it.
Q. If I use this cable and only feed it with one channel (left), will it sum it down to real mono signal (left/right) i.e my speaker which it is connected to will play real mono from both built in loudspeakers and not only from the left speaker?
Hi Silent Sky Studios, thanks for this video. I am using my stereo CD players & the stereo Cassette deck as connected to the vintage mono tube radio with the stereo -mono cable. Kindly clarify for my doubts. Since the Source is the CD player or the cassette Deck, Can I use the same 470 ohm resistor? I do have the 680 ohms resistor, can I use instead of 470 ohms? Thanks in advance. Best regards.
Yes, you can use 680 ohms if that's what you have available. The higher the resistance value, the more attenuation (reduction) you'll see on the signal level, so you'll simply have to turn up the input gain or volume a bit on your mono tube radio. But it should be fine.
@@silentskystudios It's greatly helpful. Thank you & Regards.
Why resister not diode?
That's been answered before in responses to previous comments. See below.
@@silentskystudios "A diode would seriously limit the audio signal, if not actually block it altogether." 🙂thanks a lot!
Are the resistors to limit the combined output of left and right channels relative to the ground? Why not use diodes instead to counteract the signal bleed from the left/right channels? (not very electrical experienced, just curious) thx!
The resistors are to prevent each output from trying to drive the low impedance of the other output as if it were an input. As for a diode, see previous comments and responses--some other commenters have asked that before.
why is this still a rarity in 2022? this is a very practical tool for mono monitoring
Good question, but I'm still not aware of any major cable manufacturer that builds these. I guess it's somewhat of a niche product, and there are other options available: summing D.I. boxes, volume controllers with a stereo-to-mono switch, etc. So for whatever reason, none of them have taken it on.
Hello, First of all thank you for the links to your articles. I‘ve read through them but I couldn’t find an answer for my specific case. If possible, could you please help me within the next few days? That would be awesome as I’m playing a gig next week. Thx in advance :) I‘d like to know whether I need resistors for a summing cable which connects my stereo pedalboard to my amp. If yes, which value? I also wonder if the resistors will suck my signal. I will plug the summing cable into the L+R output of my Radial split box (SB-6) which also has phase switch options so that won‘t cause problems. Usually, I run my rig in stereo but I‘d like to have the possibility to run it in mono just in case I only have one amp. The effects and cables are all tied to the board which doesn‘t allow for quick changes. Hence the summing cable idea. If I lived in the USA, I would buy one of yours but it’s cheaper for me to build it myself over here in Europe :)
I forgot to mention that my rig uses unbalanced cables only. I might change that later if I run longer distances to my amps but for now I keep my standard instrument cables.
Yeah, just build a y-cable with 2 quarter-inch mono/TS plugs on one end to connect to your SB-6 and a single quarter-inch mono-TS plug on the other end to connect to your amp. 470 ohm resistors should be fine. You'll just need to solder a resistor into each leg of the inner conductor wire (not the shield) on the end with the 2 quarter-inch plugs.
@@silentskystudios Wow that was quick! Thanks for the instructions :)
Can I use a 1k resistor
Are you building and selling these? Where can I purchase!? Thx!
My bad, got the link and ordered one!
Thanks so much, cable just showed up and works perfectly and is just what I needed. No more split L/R solos from the phone to PA
ua-cam.com/video/p1xNbFQ9zRE/v-deo.html I recomend, Hear is the explanation with draws and technical examples
Six minutes when I only needed 15 seconds. Jeepers. Just use 1k resistors inline.
I've added the recommended resistors to the description of the video. They were also posted in numerous comments. Hope that helps.
Super interesting! Do you know where I could find the same thing but with dual TS (or TRS) to mono 1/4"?
Yes, I build those too: micmodkits.com/other/
Can you tell me where the wires go
If I need a cable to sum the outputs of two guitars into one, then plug the other end of the cable into the amp, would I still need this type of cable, or would those amazon TRS to TS adapters suffice? Not sure if the output of an electric guitar is high enough to damage any equipment, that's why I'm asking. Thanks!
Why would you sum two guitars into one? Are you wanting to plug two guitars into one amplifier? If that's the case, it would likely be better to use a small mixer. In any case, as long as both guitars have passive pickups, you could likely sum the outputs together using a regular cable without causing any damage. It might affect the tone slightly, but it shouldn't cause any damage.
You need a diy talk box with a p.a. speaker to amp video. Yessur
