Impressed with that performance ... we get snow here like that about every ten years ... tossing up whether to build a a blade or a snow blower for my Gravely ... Just love the way the Kolher gets the job done buy just chugging along Go Gravely thumbs up

Edit the 15 minutes of struggle out. Otherwise great video.

Did you install 2 blades on single blade mower? Or is there an adapter?
@@TheFeralWoodsman Hi thanks for Watching that’s the way the Brush Hog Came

I like the finish of the twin blades. Nice weather now without the oppressive humidity.
Yes it does a great job thanks for watching and commenting have a nice day
Hey Jeff. Nice job with the Gravely. I hope the hot weather has broken a bit for you. The cross blade 30 inch mower blades are becoming rare.

The wheels look like the front wheels from early Gravely rotary plow, so Im going to say that is a Gravely sulkie early 40s or earlier. I bought a 70 C8 that came with a steering sulkie. Its like driving a forklift. Quite a learning curve.
@@4sl648 Thanks for watching and commenting that is Great Information to Know Thanks Again
There doesn’t appear to be a roller in your roller rest..
Thanks for watching not really sure what your talking about
Could we get some close ups? I can't tell enough detail to use for manufacturing the parts.
I always put the high-low lever in neutral before I engage the PTO. Otherwise, it's hard on everything especially the PTO dog and attachment clutch. I love my old Gravely tractors! Thanks for sharing.
@@jwoodyr1 Thanks for watching and yes that’s what I do to
@@jtslandscaping7669 I'm not trying to be a jerk here - just trying to be helpful. In this video at 1:40, you pushed the high/low lever (left side of right handlebar) forward from its neutral position. I believe that's "low" on the L models. I can clearly see you did not return the high/low lever to neutral before you engaged the PTO lever at 1:30. So, engine power was being sent to the PTO at that time. That's why you had some grinding as the dog skipped across the clutch teeth, the deck jerked into motion and the engine RPMs dipped. There's always some power to the PTO because it's difficult to find perfect neutral, in my experience. But, it's far better to be close to neutral on the high/low lever than fully engaged when the PTO lever is pulled. I've seen dogs and clutch teeth worn so badly they will no longer stay engaged because the operator didn't put the high/low lever into neutral before pulling the PTO lever. I hope this helps you keep the old tractor running for many, many more years to come. They are awesome machines!
@@jwoodyr1 Thanks for Watching
Put the far end just a fuzz lower then the upper end and you won’t have to pull it as hard
Yes I will do that I love the Sawmill all my Boards in my House are my Own boards
@@jtslandscaping7669 it’s an amazing feeling to go from a tree to a finished product. Only problem with mine is the last cut has a low spot every time I can’t figure that out. Every thing is level so I don’t know what’s going on I just use those boards on my chicken house or to stack my firewood on.
@shawnmullinsoutdoors My up and down motor is electric the bearing was shot working on that you have to make sure everything is level I make a lot of birdhouses and feeders
@@jtslandscaping7669 Thanks I’ll change the bearings and see what happens. They are getting worn.

Yep, great machine. But for future reference: Dry powdery snow, like the stuff in this video, use the SnowCannon. Wet slushy snow, use the Plow blade.
Thanks for Watching our Videos but that’s all I have is the Plow
@@jtslandscaping7669 I have both for my Gravely 546. The plow gets used mostly, in my area of NW Indiana. Gravely's are beasts and that plow blade is HEAVY. Has to be two to three times thicker than any plowblade on a typical riding mower.
@@dkeith45 Yes Have you seen my other videos with my Gravely Brush Hog it Mows just about Everything Great Machines
@@jtslandscaping7669 Haven't seen any of your other videos. But I have the 30" bush hog and it is amazing also. I have the non-steering sulky and the steering sulky, both are nice depending on the situation. I also recently got a 50" mowing deck, but haven't hooked it up yet.

@jtslandscaping7669 have you ever used a plow on one to grade/move dirt or other material? Wondering if they have enough weight to push well.

The attachment on the front of your Sulky is for times you are pulling a dump cart, or when there is no attachment on the front of the Gravely. Otherwise, you want to remove that attachment, and put the 'clamshell' piece on the front of the Sulky (you may not have this part) But in your case, you'll also have to get another ball, as you altered it and it won't work now with the other ball, the clamshell. SO, with the Clamshell part attached, the Sulky and Tractor can FLEX a lot up or down at the ball. That setup is best for mowing as it allows the mowing deck to ride up and down over your low and high spots and you can also using your feet on the foot holds and hands on the handle bars and pressing down, easily lift the front of the deck off the ground in order to get out of a difficult spot or over some object. Also, there was no need to shave down the ball. The attachment on the front of the Sulky was upside down. It's designed to have a small hole on one side, and a larger hole at the bottom. Most of these Gravely hitches it's best to leave the ball on the hitch sulky when removed from the tractor and NOT ON the tractor.
Thanks for watching and giving me that Great information
Good job on all 3 projects. I especially like the birch logs made for suet cakes. My little red headed woodpecker would think that's pretty sharp!❤
Hello thanks for Watching our Videos and commenting and subscribing
My grandfather had a nursery in Redding CT in the 1960s and 1970s. A retirement venture for him. My first Gravely (still have it) was his 1963 Li. He would mow between the rows of hemlock trees all summer and do the garden plowing. Thats hard work. I have a few 30 inch mowers, however, all have the single 3/8 inch thick blade.
Thanks yes back growing up I had a Christmas Tree Farm and I used my Grandfather’s Gravely I love it

Interesting. My M106 brush hogs use gear oil in the gear box. My starter clutch gets a couple of squirts of WD-40 from time to time, not grease, with a starter strap pin in place of your zerk. The governor also gets a regular oil level check. PaulL
Hi thanks for Watching my Videos
Nice job Jeff! Im switching over my winter attachments to spring and summer. My 30 inch mower always seeps gear oil down the shaft so I need to check the lube in it every time I run it.
Keep checking up on it I’m lucky nothing leaks on mine but I check every time I use the Machine I love it

Welcome back. There should also be a kill switch in the end of the right handlebar. Be sure to hold it until the engine stops completely. I use hearing protection since the pepper pot doesn't muffle much. Have you tried a mulching guard in place of the rear guard on the deck? PaulL
Nice job clearing the area
