    I am 30 and I am currently looking for a loaded C with a V6 and RWD. The V6 does not have MDS and Chrysler used the pentastar in 21 different models. As a man who does all his own maintenance that tells me that come 10-15 years when serious repairs such as engine replacement comes around, these engines will be everywhere and cheap. Best bang for buck without the maintenance cost of a German comparison.

    I agree on the cost issue, new EVs were and still are overpriced. It does appear that the dealers/manufactures were just adding the cost of any government rebates to the sticker price. We bought a 13,000 mile used 2022 Bolt for $20k, a much more reasonable price. This will be our primary vehicle, doing all the round town daily trips and commutes, usually 20-30 miles tops, and returning to home for overnight recharge. We only charge to 55-60% as we don;t need that 259 mile range daily, and charging to 100% shortens the battery life faster.

      When Ramps work they are far less hassle. Without clearance issue you just throw them in front of your car and drive up. Both side are up at the same time and it's way quicker. That the point.

    I drive a 2020 that I bought used in August 2024 for $14,500 with 31K miles, and I love it. I sell Mercedes, so I was impressed with how smooth the Bolt was on the road. The regen mode is great in slow traffic. There will be a gazillion CHEAP used electric cars on the market in the next decade, THAT will be when EV's go mainstream.

    Obviously in August 2024, this video is way out of date. The prices of new and used Bolts and Bolt EUVs have plumeted. I purchased one a month ago. A used 2022 Bolt EUV for $21,000. This price is after taxes, additional warranties and packages and a $4,000 used tax credit. The price I paid for the Bolt EUV is more than 50% the cost of a new Tesla Model Y. This frees up money to go geothermal at my house. I'm sure if the content creator made this video today, he would play a different tune about Purchasing/Leasing a Bolt/Bolt EUV. At the time the video was made it was spot on. One thing to note is if you have solar panels on your roof or land, you are paying off the vehicle early, if purchasing or paying for the lease. I used to spend $300 a month in gas. I will have the EV paid off in 6 years. I will run the EV into the ground. When the battery to the car needs to be changed, I will get a repacked battery for much less then a barrtery replacement. Chevrolet decided to split the Bolt battery pack into 10 individual battery stacks in a common housing, meaning bad packs can be swapped for less money than an entire pack. However, this won’t be a great solution for worn out batteries. If one pack goes bad, the rest aren’t far behind it. Each pack costs $990.81, making a total parts cost for a totally fresh battery $9,908 before tax and labor. I'd rather spend $10,000 than buy or lease another ev. I will not have to concern myself for another 10 to 12 years and I have a warranty to 100,000 miles or 8 years left. We see what happends then. Till then, I will enjoy not paying for gas and having my Bolt getting powered by the sun.

    • @patrickakers5062
      @patrickakers5062 2 місяці тому

      @FGuilt tranmission coolers are integrated into all radiators, it has been this way for forever. When the oil or transmission cooler inside the radiator tanks fail it bleeds trans fluid or engine oil into the cooling system and vice versa. This is to keep ideal temperatures for the fluids.

    • @rythecarguy2711
      @rythecarguy2711 2 місяці тому

      @@patrickakers5062 well it's ignorant and causes a ton of problems. Countless transmissions have blown because of it.

    • @patrickakers5062
      @patrickakers5062 2 місяці тому

      @rythecarguy2711 not inparticularly actually, you want engine oil temperature and transmission temperature right around or just below by only a few degrees of coolant temperature. This prevents more problems than it creates. Having two extremes in temp. Differences does damage.

    Thanks for sharing! Have you ever traded in a vehicle for another that is less expensive and got a check for the difference? My husband and I are going to sell our paid off Honda Odyssey, buy a decent used minivan and use the difference to get out of debt. We were wondering if it would be smarter to sell to one dealership to try to get the most for our van and then buy from another so we can have a stronger negotiating muscle. We were thinking it would be better that the place we end up buying it from didn't know we just got a big check type thing.... Thoughts on the best way to go about that?

    I learned something today worth mentioning if you are going for a 1 for 1 in the end: you pay taxes on the difference in sale price minus trade in. So if you don't trade in where you buy, you will pay taxes on the crappy offer they gave you that you are declining. Likely not worth not selling it where you get the most anyway, but worth considering.

    Pretty common sense review one thing I didn’t realize when I bought my ev was your not supposed to charge over 80 percent or drain your battery below 20 percent. So you’re always working with 60 percent. That doesn’t mean you can’t occasionally. Tesla is doing agreements with other ev makers now to allow their cars on the supercharger network but I don’t think the bolt will ever have access. But the volt led to the bolt and the bolt has led to other much better Chevrolet ev’s. Like the new blazer ev or Silverado ev. Since Chevrolet has been making some pretty awful gas cars it’s good to see the change. They can still make a LS motor but the rest of their gas engines seem likely to have a catastrophic failure before 100,000 miles.
