Suspended in Switzerland - Hanging from the cliffs in Valais to Grimsel Pass to Bernina Pass
Awaken to a small village in Villais, Switzerland with one of the best bakeries in the country, 1959. Come along as we taste amazing French inspired sweets with fresh apricots, delightful pistachio paste, and flaky croissants. Then journey to the Bisse Du Torrent Neuf (Savièse) where we hike along a mountain waterway from the 15th century, braving suspension bridges and the edge of cliffs all while burning the carbs we ate that morning.
See the beautiful views and breathtaking scenery of the Grimsel Pass with its winding roads and Grimsel Lake at the top. Among the granite sits the most lovely and peaceful church with stained glass and built out of rock in 1818. This was our favorite of all the historic churches we visited in Europe. It was such a pleasant place to stay for the evening and wake up to peaceful scenery.
Then, we drove off to St. Moritz which held the Olympics in 1948. Here we saw the bobsled tracks which was quite exciting in this posh city. Finally, we ended with a wonderful lunch at surprise historic bridge, Solis, which was built in 1848. We had the best view of the bridge and seafoam green water. Interestingly, the Bernina Express train crosses over the bridge not allowing its riders to see the work of art that this bridge truly is.

Hey, i wanted to know... How do you manage electricity? like do you have to find a spot to plug every night? do park4night spots or place to bee offer automaticaly the charging spot or is it necessary?:)
In the park4night app it will show you if there a plugin, water fill up, and dump stations. Now you usually don’t find free hookups that’s going to be more of a payed camp site amenity. We never plugged in because we drove and the vehicles alternator charged the system. We never got low on battery but we didn’t run the heater too much because it was the summer and the air conditioning only works when the car was running. The system was pretty efficient are vehicle was on the newer side so the batteries were in good condition. Our refrigerator ran 24/7 we kept meat, dairy, eggs in there this saves a ton of money especially making coffees every day. A must if your in place like Switzerland 💸
how did you manage overnight parking? where did you park? which countries did you travel through with the campervan?
We used an app called park4night. We stayed in various locations from Germany to Switzerland to Italy and ended in Venice. The app helps you by reading others reviews on the location giving you much needed information. We still had some issues with the local people treating us badly. We had one scary encounter in a lot in Italy outside of Venice. They surrounded our van at like 2am honking, revving their engines, and doing burnouts right next to our camper van. It ended with them pulling up to our van a few inches from each side and shouting in Italian. My wife and I were in the rooftop tent we jumped down to the bottom and prayed. The left after that. Talk about a rough night. This video was shot from that lot so my review might be a little sleep deprived challenged. Thank you for your comment. It’s comments like this that encourage me to keep editing and posting I still have more videos that I haven’t finished from this Swiss to Italy adventure. Like and subscribe as we are just getting this channel up and going. We appreciate your support.
Hey! I’m about to get a Indie van tomorrow, may I ask where you rented this one from?
We rented from there Frankfurt Germany and returned it in Venice Italy. It was an epic journey we went on. Just make sure you check it out extensively and have them note any flaws. We also had our own travelers insurance which covered rental cars/rental vans. Worth the $150 bucks. But we didn’t use it. So I can’t say it was totally worked but peace of mind
Here is the group, Indie Campers have ripped us off. Check it out for more horror stories
Indie Campers is a total ripoff. I rented a van from them in May 2024 and bought the Premium Protection plan for $199. I had a small accident which dented the top of van. A local repairman gave an estimate of $300. Turns out the premium plan only covers about 30% of the van. The top and bottom areas aren't covered. They charged my credit card over $3,800 for damages. Then they lied about letting me have the local repairman do the work. Do not rent from Indie Campers.
We bought traveler insurance and made sure that it covered a rental RV. Thank God we didn’t have any accidents but there were some close calls in Italy. The system is ran all online and through call centers based most likely in India. The people running these locations for the most part are just young people with a smartphone. If something happens beyond their ability to take pictures in an app, you’re in for a long battle with a call center. We were told that we would get a refund on our vignettes but it was a lie. They just want to get you out of there location and your someone else problem. Now that was our experience. Sorry you went through it and were charged that amount is crazy.
Cute couple 😊
