A tour from Exmouth Docks to Sandy Bay March 1991
1st January 1990 was the day Exmouth docks ended its days as a commercial port. Over the next three decades the whole area including part of the Seafront will be redeveloped.
Away from the holiday season the beach is tidied and regraded and wind blown sand from the road is deposited back on the beach.
The cliffs at Orcombe Point are the start of the Jurassic Coast and the tour continues along the cliff path to Sandy Bay and what is now the Devon Cliffs Holiday Park.

My stepson, brought up single handed by is mother, now my wife, passed out in 1990 and is now a lieutenant colonel with only a couple of years before he retires. We both think (my wife and myself) this to be a great achievement and wish him well for the future

In 2011 was discharged 'Unfit Military Service' after 12 weeks of training at Lympstone due to a 'medical issue' and the insurance shite surrounding it. Absolutely gutted as a 19 year old with his mind set on a green lid, but that's life. I took the ethos and attitude with me into life, and I reckon I'd be a lot worse off without putting in the effort to get if and pass PJFT, PRMC and give training a solid crack until I had to stop. Prior to that, I was a skinny, poor postured teen, ate shit, played video games etc. I did cadets and Nijmegen that gave a small taste and some life skills, but that's just playing soldiers with a few scout badges in comparison. 31 now, still gutted I didn't get to have a crack at commando phase, but now I live in Australia, still keep fit (never stopped), great job, great family, great life. The attitude of "just keep going and get it done" is absolutely why I'm there, not dole scrounging in Yorkshire.

Of all the many black people in Britain, you hardly can point at one in their military. What racist country!!! But check out USA,so many blacks in their military with some many excelling to four star generals.

It is a good pace to jog at. I am 65. Running 43 years. Have gone back to the speed march pace I did in the 70's in the TA 5th Battalion the Royal Anglian Reg. I am doing 5 or 12 miles jogs listening to pod casts and audio books. I find this less damaging to my well worn bones. And hiking with small back pack speed up the time.with short jogs. British Forces are second to none. Do some weights. Go for a 5 or 12 mile jog. Relax afterwards with a cold beer .Heaven.

What’s the distance of the speed march? If they had been running for an hour and still stayed in formation, that would be an achievement.

Great stuff. My dad often recounted his experience of the speed march from Spean Bridge station to Achnacary House (in 1941) after which he went to 43 Commando. He loved everything about the Marines.

When your in training, you are in full equipment and carrying weapons. if you get out of step it can get quite fractious with the odd fight breaking out. 🤣😂.That was nearly 50 years ago, still member it as if it were yesterday.
