Super interesting! Thanks for sharing! Do you think there is any benefit to testing one's VO2 Max other than for athletic purposes?
I don’t believe taking a single vo2max test is going to be beneficial for most people. From my perspective, it should be used to measure how much your performance has increased from training block to training block, year over year. I plan to do another in the future to see how much I can improve.
Do you use a Garmin as well or just an apple watch?
I do not use a Garmin, just the Apple Watch
do you have Strava?
Yes, my Strava is Kanten Nichols
“Technically superior” 😉🥵😎
I think almost anyone that rides their bike more than 10 hours a week will fit into at least the excellent category
My caad13 with hallow gram knot 64 and 105 shimano mechanical 11sp , 165 crankset weight 8.4kg in 51 frame size . Can keep up with any other high end carbon bike on the market . Love cannondale aluminium frame
No mention of the Lance Armstrong “supplement strategy”
Listen to Dante and Huffy! Skills and fun. 👏👍💯💥
True wisdom from the guys that are really doing it
nice job on the ride today
Tailwind went crazy
well done - we need more riders like you - guys with situational awareness and skills not 100% built on Zwift ;)
I appreciate it! I definitely do a lot of training inside because of how efficient it is, but nothing beats racing and group rides for handling skills
at 8:50+ rider 509 recklessly dive bombs corner, causes crash, field split
and 509 was on the hoods the entire time through the corner. sketchy mcsketcherson
Heart rate / speed / Distance .. no power? We got time of day though 😭🤭🤭…. Good vid
No power meter 😭
kanten is him
Says the guy lapping me in the race after this
Great bike! I have the same one and am inspired by your upgrades! My only qualm with Cannondale is the sizing they offer. 48 to 51 is a larger jump and I was torn between the sizes. alas i opt'd for the 51 which is a bit too long for me. hoping this is my forever bike for now!
I’m really enjoying it! I’ve made a few more significant changes to the bike since this video that I’ll probably go over in the future.
It looks like 3 people going for the same opening. That's the trouble with letting that gap open in front of you in a sprint
I’m the guy that washed out in that last corner. Thanks for getting the footage!
Sorry about your crash, hope you’re alright!
Great racing with you dude. Keep the race commentary coming.
Thank you bro, sorry to hear about your incident on Sunday, wishing you a quick recovery!
The outside line on cry baby was definitely the line to take. I'm the guy in the boulevard kit that gets pinched a few times with you there. Great result by the way! I ended up 12th a few spots behind you.
Appreciate it! Definitely going to race it much differently next year, hopefully I’ll be able to hang in the 2s
HA! I was the dude who almost lands on you.... I didn't see the crash until it was too late
That’s hilarious, glad we made it without colliding!
Nice recap of all 3 days. Was super fun for sure. Well done!
Thank you! Really enjoyed the weekend and making these videos
Black skin suit’s saddle is too high. Great video BTW. Nice work
Lmao I’ll let him take that up with his fitter. Appreciate you checking out the video!
DOPE!!!! I made the cover lol
Made sure to tag ya on the Instagram, good riding bro
8:45 when I saw #509 moving up on the inside, I thought, Ok dude just back off before you hit the turn. But nope, he dove the corner and took out that rider. You can almost feel these moves behind you. And he dives again at 9:32....not saying he's the only rider diving turns, but it is an example of making these unnecessary moves that do not help him move up. You finished higher than he did without making those moves. It's not always in Cat 3 races, you see this at all levels, but the 3s are full of very strong guys with varied skill levels and experience. Nice riding out there.
I appreciate the kind words. There are definitely some handling discrepancies in the pack and I’m excited to move up to the 2s for next year to try and avoid some of it.
Great vid! Awesome that you were able to finish the race safely. That was actually @ten96cycling that got taken down by the guy diving the corner. His vid provides a good breakdown of it and the race itself.
what kind of sketch crowd is in this field
A huge field, a large amount of juniors, and a lot of people desperate for results willing to do anything for it.
Do races pay out? I want to start racing. Obviously awards are incentives.
Some do, some don’t. I made a bit of money this weekend from my racing, enough to pay for my registration.
depends on the race. Smaller races don't expect much. Sometimes its just merch.
Impressive you were able to navigate up from basically last on staging. I may never win the sprint, but I'll always win staging : p
This was me all 3 days, I couldn’t bring myself to get to staging an hour early
I’ll give you a free bike. But you gotta race CX lmao
CX could be fun, coincides with running season 🤔
Thx for the video! What made you go with a size 58 instead of a 56?
Proportionally, I have a longer torso compared to my legs. I am running a 120 mm stem on this bike, so with a 56 I would have to run a 140.
@@BTGCycling Thx for the reply! Those hollowgram wheels really makes the bike extra sexy!
What's your height? I am 185cm and I am thinking about 56cm frame. Will it be ok?
I am 186 cm with a long torso, so I went with the 58 cm
I use also contis5000 for years, and they are amazing, you could put a 28 mm tire in the back and a 25 mm Tyre in the front. I ride that way, the wider the tire the more weight you get on your wheels, but also you ride more comfortable with wider tires and the wheels have to be as much light as possible, i use the Zipp Rims they are stiff and lightweight but expensive 800 Euros the set, wheels should weight max 1500 grams then you are way faster and quicker. My CAAD 10 weight 8 Kilos with the Zipp 30 Course rims. it's a rimmmbrake but im happy with that, thinking now to get me a new bike with disc brakes.
I appreciate the suggestions! I just made a video with my new set of wheels that matches some of this.
Thank you, Ryan and Kanten
Thank you for watching/listening, we appreciate the support
Awesome 👌
Great content
Appreciate you checking it out, glad you enjoyed it!
What made you go with the Di2 version over the AXS version?
Personal preference. I just like how shimano works more than sram
@@BTGCycling Thx for sharing your bike, I just purchased the same saddle bag, very minimalist!
You held the line, if you look closely you can see how unstable he is on the bike. It's all about reading the pack, especially if you are racing guys you dont know. The guys who look smooth and good on the bike is the wheel is follow, 1 for safety and 2 to be ready for attacks. So the more pro they look, the more you want to sit in their wheel :D
Appreciate you weighing in. I had similar thoughts, but wanted an outside opinion
Lovely bike - but almost 9kg is tough. I miss the old rim break CAADs with which you could have sub-7kg-builds for a (by today's standards) reasonable price :(
Bike manufacturers really screwed us over with the "we wont sell rim brake bikes or wheels from now on". I just sold my CAAD12 Sram red etap with zipp 303, it weighed <7kg (58) and around 3k to build. Now i get a 1.6 kg heavier bike with 105 and wheels that i can use for barbecue, and it costs 50% more than my build.
Why sell the 12?
@BTGCycling it started when i was looking to buy new carbon wheels. I realized that stores doesn't have them stocked anymore. So i sold the bike to go into the "new era" of road bikes. Before my CAAD12 i had a CAAD10 black inc. Im thinking its time to try a CF bike this time around, CF bikes with discs have a better second hand market but are a pain to buy. I dont know if the argument "less road noise in a CF bike " is still relevant with the trend of big tires and fat CF rims. They aren't lighter. I will see if i can find a Supersix Evo 4 to upgrade over time or a Allebike industrie due to their insane value (respect to buyers wallet).
I remember riding a century with u in my sandals 😀
Gm did your bike come with front speed sensor?
It did, though I don’t use it.
@@BTGCycling ok im bout to get that same caad i just couldn’t remember if i seen it or not but i seen it on some other model in videos did you see the new evo 3 that thing look awesome
lol your welcome glad I can be of service lol
Always appreciated lil bro, good job on the dub
Please more driveway footage! Great job!
Thanks for watching! Ellis will have driveway footage for you nearly every week, Kanten will get you a video from it once a month when he comes into town.
Such a good effort in the break, would have loved to stick it to the end with ya!
One day I’ll be as fast as you and we can do it
Hell ya 💪
Dudes will see this and say “Hell ya”
Is the seatpost proprietary and cant be changed with anythibg but Cannondale one?
It is
@@BTGCycling K. Thanks!
Sheeeeeyeeeeesh!
Nice bike setup! I'm new to cycling, been browsing the used market, do you recommend a CAAD 12 or 13 for about the same price?
It depends on what you’re going for! While I race on the CAAD 13 and do fine with it, the 12 definitely has a more aggressive geometry. Endurance riding and racing = CAAD13 Pure crit machine = CAAD 12
@@BTGCycling Thanks!
What could you do to transform this bike into endurance version?, because I live in NY and streets are rough
This bike can fit up to 32 mm tired, has mounts for fevers, and comes stock with a relatively upright geometry. It can be quite the endurance setup with minimal changes.
Like , maybe put on endurance tires?
@@zm4242 correct, something like a GP5000 or ultrasport in 32 mm width would make it super comfortable
Bro would of gone straight into Ben if he didn’t move lol so he kinda had no where to go
100 percent, guy on the left wasn't the problem. The guy coming from inside line to center was the issue
Yeah definitely lol kinda worked out for me though I barely had to sprint since yall got pinched
The cat is nice and seems to be interested in bike stuff.
She’s just the best
I got a CAAD13 to replace a stolen CAAD9 - for a while, I missed the sharper handling of the 9, but the 13 has really grown on me, to the point that I've almost forgotten about the 9. I got an Aethos (nearly identical geometry as the 9) because I missed the ride/handling of the 9, but I find that I prefer the ride of the CAAD over the Aethos. Barely noticeable difference in performance too.
I hate bike thieves, that’s tough, I had an Allez Sprint stolen years ago. Those older CAADs were definitely super aggressive, but I do enjoy the ability to do long days in the saddle on the 13 without issue.
@@BTGCycling yeah the 13 brings the comfort to a new level. I don’t think it deserves the hate it gets - after spending a reasonable amount of time with it, I think it has the perfect blend of stiffness/compliance for the enthusiast rider. I think the fact that I prefer it to the Aethos, which feels like a CAAD9 on steroids to me, says a lot.
I was kind of surprised I didn’t like the Allez Sprint - made me realize I prefer a more relaxed geo. But yeah - bike thieves are scum.
Nice video, glad there wasn’t a crash. That looked sketch
Definitely could’ve been worse. We live to race another day
