O Glorious Divine Love
Since eternity past, God's eternal plan has been to gain a corporate man, His church, that is His Bride, for His kingdom (Eph 1:4-5 ; 3:10-11 ; 5:25-27 ; Rev 20:4-6 ; 22:5).
Previously, I sang this hymn with a personal and individual perspective, but through the recent (MCB) conference messages, my view has been uplifted to see it from the perspective of the church. Christ gave all He had to purchase me-not just for myself, but for the church. In Matthew 13:45-46, Christ is like the merchant who sought a pearl of great value (the church). He went to the cross, sold all that He had, and bought it for the kingdom.
In the same way, our love for the Lord must be absolute. We should love nothing above Him. He is the One worthy of all our love, and we must be worthy of Him (Matthew 10:37, footnote 1).
"I'm in love, Lord, with You."
May the divine love constrain us until we, too, have the same utterance from the hymn to the Lord, deep within our being. When we love Him, we will know His heart-and, in the same way, desire to give our all for the church. May our whole lives be utterly spent on Christ and the church.
