Sorry for the question but can you confirm if the dream machine pro se fans are loud ? Would the fan noise be audible if I had it sitting in my main media room ?
They are not silent, but how audible they will be really depends on how you have it setup and how far it is from you. If it is across the room from you and there is carpet in the room to help absorb the noise I don't think it would be too much of an issue compared to other media devices. If you put it in a rack where the noise can reverberate it might get a bit annoying
@ thank you for the response
This is how to demonstrate a device setup. You didn't edit it all of the issues that could occur when installing. Other creators are like "wham bam" and edit or the issues. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
Thanks for posting Great video
Great video brother!!!🙏 nice !! I also bought dream machine se and i will buy home assistance!!! Is amazing!!!🔥🔥🔥
Can you add the lock to home assistant, and do something cool like when person x open with their code you can see who just unlocked the door? (I just ordered ha green and will start my journey in a couple of days)
This specific lock can't be added to home assistant just yet. I'm not sure if they plan on it in the future. However, in the U home app you do get a log that shows which code was used to unlock the door and at what time. So, not the exact functionality you are asking, but it does exist in some form
Ugos will still not be usable (bugs and annoyances) for couple more months. Those devices work great with Unraid, Truenas or OpenmediaVault
Have you had more time to play with it? Did you happen to install Docker and any Docker apps?
Neat. Just got a kit and looking forward to building it. Like to put a arm or light on it as well. Nice channel.
IG Dm pls
Hi Sam! Can it fit a thick laptop in an EVA case? Mine is an ASUS TUF 15.6 gaming laptop at 3cm Thickness that I put in an EVA case with 4.5cm thickness when the laptop is inside. Im just curious because most of my camera bags will fit my laptop but with the hardshell eva case then it wont no longer. Dimensions are: Length 28cm x Width 4.5cm x Height 48cm. Thank you!
Is this running at 10gb? Does it have a 10gb out port?
I'm not sure if he was running this at 10G speeds but yes, it does have a 10GbE port and also built-in Wifi for the 480T UGreen NAS model.
NAS is essential for video creation! Nice demo
I just watched all of your videos and have to say you are doing a great job. Just gave you another subscription and am looking forward to seeing more videos. Hope to see your channel grow to a major following like so many others I have watched through the years. Good luck with your journey!
Nice review. I have the 20L, which I didn't know would be just a little too small for my use case, but that's okay, I have a larger Lowepro Flipside BP 300 AW III. I decided to use my smaller Shimoda for short day trips locally. Again, nice review, keep up the great work.
Switchbot hub
Gosh. I’m so new to all this. I guess I’m doomed.
I appreciate you taking some of us newbies through the process. Keep at it. Thanks…
Worth noting that you can swap out the storage module in the back for 3 or 4 different size modules. Gives space for more or less camera kit. Not sure if a different layout would help accommodate your keyboard though.
That's a very stylish backpack, and nice colour. Thanks for your genuine review.
Use trigger ID's so you do not need seperate automations for motion on and motion clear
Thanks for the video. You seem just a tinsy bit overexposed. Mic is good. Take your time speaking because sometimes you seem to have to pause to catch your breath. If you're going to do a list of features, then organize the presentation like nomad nation. If it is more about your passion for gear, I would prefer a quick gist of the product and then about your choice process and then onto how you pack it :) Cheers and good luck
I have a mesh network using 3 router form the brand "Tenda" in their app they have an option called "Smart assistant" that when enabled the phone changes to 2.4GHz for 30 minutes to help you to setup any device that supports only 2.4GHz. I did this and I was not able to pair the sensor, also tried soo many times, seems it's a known issue from comments I saw onAamazon. BUT, I tried again by turning ON airplane mode on my phone with Wi-Fi and BT turned ON only, andthe pairing went flawlessly. I ended up buying a second sensor and did the same, airplane mode worked again. I'm not sure exactly what it is but I've seen this behavior before on other smart devices I had and turning ON airplane mode always works. Thanks for sharing the process, I just paired my Aqara hub following your video, I had no idea about using matter to make it work. I'm super new to Home asssitant.
And begins the path down the rabbit hole with Ubiquiti! Great start!
Hey Sam, you can combine the on/off automation into one automation by using trigger IDs. This reduces your number of automations and brings everything pertaining to a single bulb into one automation.
I wish the pet rejection was better on the presence sensor. Haven’t been able to use with my security system due to false detections with the dogs. Up to date firmware too with the most recent ai person models
Yale Assure 2 locks. They support HomeKit and they also integrate into home assistant with the Yale home or August integration. HomeKit for local control, Yale home or august is a cloud grade integration, but exposes a lot more data for automations.
I love this. I gave up on Resolutions about 10 years ago. My wife came up with a similar notion to your idea of a theme. As a family, we collectively decided that our "themes" would generally be a single word, which we than began to refer to as our Watchword for the year. This year, mine is "mindful". Good luck with your focus this year!
Hey Sam. I love this little starter automation. Like you, I'm relatively new to Home Assistant and Home Automation in general. Also, like you, I code. I have a small suggestion to set you up for future success. It's something I came across based on watching other channels. I started to notice that there are often several ways to trigger an automation based on the same event. So, for example, with the Aqara contact sensor...One way is to do exactly what you did, trigger it based on a device trigger. Another way to trigger your automation on the same event is to trigger on an entity state change. In that same sensor device, there is a binary sensor entity that ends in {_opening}, so it would be something like {binary_sensor.your_device_name_opening}, which would be set to "on" when the contact sensor is open. So, you could trigger your automation on that entity state changing to "on". OK, so why would you choose to do that rather than choosing the device? Well, the device has a unique ID assigned to it when it gets added. Just view that automation in the YAML editor and you're see that it's a standard UUID. If you need to change that contact sensor for any reason, you'll have to modify all the corresponding automations to trigger off the new device ID. If you trigger off the state change and need to change the device later, you can change the new device name to match the old one (after removing the old one) and HA will rename the corresponding entities to match. Once you do that and verify the entity name matches, all your automations associated with that device will now just work without having to edit them. The same applies to your lights. When you setup the turn light on action, if you choose the entities associated with your lights instead of the device, when your bulb dies, and you have to replace it, the same principle applies. After having seen different channels use entities instead of devices without much explanation about why, I did a bit of Google searching and found a few recommendations like this and it became clear WHY. So, as a rule, if at all possible (and it sometimes isn't), I use strictly entities to refer to anything in an automation, script, etc. This sets me up to make the eventual need to change things out far less painful, especially when you have several automations associated with one or more devices. I hope this makes sense and helps you or one of the other folks watching your channel. Cheers, STeve
This is a fun automation. My first one like this was to turn off the air conditioner when my dog opened the door. What you should take a look at is trigger ids so you can organise your a automations in a single script instead of one to turn it off and another to turn it on. Also expanding in this you could use trigger ids to show both indicators on a single light. You would only need to set 3 colours.
Why did you buy the Aquara Hub when you already have the Sonoff Dongle-E - which is a universal Zigbee gateway ?
should have used original door and window sensors as they are MUCH smaller and you are using the hub so they work well. Binding is the term they use for connecting to the hub
Congratulations on your new home, and the Unifi system, im also getting bigger with my gear but taking it slow, currently running the pill size dream machine.
A stabilizer could be something to consider.
Welcome to the tinkering world of Home Assistant. 👍
Great stuff, a smart home video I can relate to. You’re already a step ahead of me.
Hi
is your wifi 2.4+5ghz ? i think you need to set up your wifi as 2.4ghz only for the fp2 to connect succesfully
Yeah this was the issue that the app was telling me. However, I never switched between frequencies and it ended up working after a factory reset of the sensor. So I'm not sure if my phone switched frequency in the background or what
@@samsalaskyyeah your phone most likely went to 2.5ghz
In your video I saw the app tell you what the problem was long before you ever got close to it. Mine took me a couple of minutes to get it connected without a hub.
The hallway is a non-issue with the presence sensor, as you can "ignore" that area after it maps everything out.
That is good to know. I'm still pretty new to these motion sensors so my mission for this weekend is to start to play around with their settings a bit more
How would you compare the Aqara M1S and M2? Does it improve the stability?
I like the M2 as it connects either ethernet or wifi. I prefer ethernet whenever possible and it is a great little hub.
Then is there a way I can select the M2 as my lead hub in the Apple HomeKit ecosystem?
@@daily_sua024 Your lead hub? Your hubs will be listed in the rooms with the devices that are bound to each hub.
Great start and welcome to the time vortex that is home assistant.
Hala...am joining you and running away from subscription. Am using ewelink sonoff devices all because they are cheap and available. Buying my Raspberry pi soon.
Just getting started myself. Nice Shaman BTW
I’ve been looking for exactly this type of video. Most home assistant videos go from 0 to 100 miles an hour in one second it was good to see a basic unboxing and set up of the basic home assistant unit.
I bought a home assistant green about a month or two ago trying to switch from Google home. Which I unfortunately invested way too much money in. I played with it for like a day and then gave up because it was too technically complicated for me. But it looks like I'll have to switch to zigbee items cuz it looked pretty easy to set up as opposed to having to mess with yaml code and finding the right integrations for different Google, Alexa, and other third party devices
I'm sure there is a way to migrate devices from Google. What protocol are they using? Wifi? Don't re-buy stuff yet.
@@uSlackr yes everything I have is Wi-Fi. About to move from this tiny studio though into a much larger townhome with my wife. Most of my Google products I didn't even install yet (doorbell, Yale lock, nest mini, nest hub, etc) cuz not enough room/plugs lol. I mostly control my tiny place with the LinknLink ehub which is a motion, temp, humidity, sensor and IR/RF controller. I actually just got an email from them a day or two ago saying HA now has a "HACS" that will help integrate it. I'll have to try that out at my new place in a week or two. Hopefully setting up my HA Green here didn't mess it up with me trying to set it up in the new home in the future
I hope you achieve your goals and I wish you the best of luck on your UA-cam channel. 💪🏼
It’s a presence sensor very different than a pir sensor presence sensors detect you no matter what even down to you breathing pir sensor detect bigger movements so if you sit still it will clear and not detect until you move again presence sensors are better if you ask, me set up a automation to turn on lights when your in the room and turn off the lights when you leave the room or a specific amount of time after you leave a room if you switch to a pir aka motion Detecton sensor it will turn on lights when motion is detected but you will have to figure out how to get 3hr lights to turn off when you leave the room unless you don't mind turning off lights manually when you move, because if you have it set to turn off when no movement is detected then if your not making big enough movements the lights will turn off for a example you sitting there watching a video with minimal movement presence sensors are the way to go
We got another one folks
Welcome to the Home Assistant rabbit hole! Nice video!
Welcome to the dark side............
Welcome to the future. I started the journey about 6 years ago, and by far my favorite automation is turning the lights off/on when plex starts/ends a movie.
