#61 Jon Devore: triumph, tragedy and team work
Source:
www.podbean.com/eau/pb-8ntad-17a010f
In this episode, Laurent sits down with Jon Devore. Jon is a professional skydiving stuntman, aerial stunt coordinator, and captain of the Red Bull Air Force team. This episode is rich with insights and full of contrast. From his beginnings as an educator, to pioneering freeflying, to doubling as Johnny Utah in the Point Break remake - Jon shares how teamwork, and dedicated training were vital to his accomplishments. Jon also discusses the delicate balance of humility and excellence, and how crucial both are to his success and the sport as a whole. In contrast to his many amazing accomplishments, Jon shares some very personal stories such as the loss his teammate Eli Thompson, his recent near-fatal speed flying accident, and the immense physical and mental hurdles he had to overcome and still deals with daily. Finally, John gives us a glimpse into the future of the Red Bull Air Force and the rigorous process of integrating a new team member. Our conversation offers a deep dive into the mind of one of air sports' most accomplished figures.

+1 for Base Beta! I understand the hesitation to put that info out there... but let's be honest, if some whuffo's going to death camp themself than it's going to happen regardless. Re this episode- so refreshing to hear you guys respecting the process and putting the time in. not that I'd expect anything else from this podcast, but I see too many people rushing it nowadays. been in the sport since '02 myself and I've seen the repercussions of those that rush it. I support posting epic vids. it's inspiring. just because some badass can do something doesn't mean anyone should try it w/out training. we all need inspiration, like I got from this convo ;-) thanks!

This isn't relevant to the episode, which I just started but I'm sure is awesome. I just tried the buymeacoffee link and got a 404 error. tried brave and chrome, vpn on and off, clean link and w trackers, haven't tried laptop yet, just my android phone. anyway- just a heads up. Let me know if there's another way I can tip the team. You all deserve it, thanks for doing this show.
