On 14th April 2024, 4 year old Mayar Yahia was killed in a collision as she was walking home with friends and family. Her mother Sara was seriously injured. In a profoundly moving demonstration, Mayar's parents, family, friends and campaigners from Better Streets for Birmingham came together to demand action to make their neighbourhood safer.

Every day children and parents on their way to school on Reddings Lane in Birmingham encounter appalling and dangerous driving. In November 2021, a 3 year old girl, Maysoon Abdul-Hakeem was killed on the zebra crossing outside the school gates.
