Scriptive Review: The Ultimate Homeschool Writing Tool
Visit Scriptive @ www.scriptive.us/
For homeschoolers seeking a unique and effective writing program, WriteStories by Scriptive offers an innovative approach to engage children in the writing process. This tool is perfect for all skill levels, whether you have a reluctant writer or a budding author. It transforms the writing experience by combining creativity with technology, making it an ideal fit for homeschool writing programs.
Why Homeschoolers Will Love WriteStories
1. Reluctant Writers
WriteStories is a game-changer for reluctant writers. Traditional writing assignments can be daunting, but WriteStories introduces a creative twist by allowing children to craft stories based on illustrations. This visual approach not only sparks imagination but also empowers struggling writers to become skillful communicators. By focusing on the narrative rather than the blank page, students find writing more approachable and enjoyable.
2. Advanced Writers and Budding Authors
WriteStories isn't just for beginners. Advanced writers and budding authors will find it equally stimulating. With a vast array of illustrations and the freedom to create, it offers a platform where creativity knows no bounds. Children can explore different genres and styles, refining their skills as they go. It’s a versatile program suitable for all homeschool writing levels.
3. Self-Paced Learning
Homeschooling thrives on flexibility, and WriteStories caters perfectly to this need. Children can work at their own pace, allowing them to take the time they need to develop their stories. Parents can tailor assignments and due dates to fit each child’s unique learning style, ensuring a stress-free and personalized writing journey.
4. Parental Involvement
Scriptive understands the importance of parental involvement in homeschool writing. With WriteStories, parents receive their own account and interactive dashboard, making it easy to monitor their child's progress. This feature fosters a collaborative environment where parents can provide guidance and encouragement, helping their children grow as writers.
5. Fostering a Love for Writing
One of the main goals of any homeschool writing program is to foster a love for writing. WriteStories achieves this by enabling children to create fun and personal stories. The act of seeing their words come to life alongside beautiful illustrations helps students develop a genuine passion for writing, which is crucial for their future success.
6. Internet/Content Safety
Safety is a top priority, especially when using technology in homeschool writing programs. Scriptive ensures that all books on the WriteStories platform are vetted by a team of experts. This guarantees a safe and appropriate environment for children to explore their creativity without exposure to inappropriate content.
How to Use Tech in Your Homeschool Writing with WriteStories
WriteStories is not just another digital tool; it’s a comprehensive program designed to integrate seamlessly into your homeschool curriculum. Here's how you can leverage technology to enhance your homeschool writing experience:
Interactive Story Creation: WriteStories provides an online library of children’s books with the words removed. Children write their own stories to match the illustrations, creating a fully personalized narrative. This interactive approach helps students engage with their writing on a deeper level, making it a fun and educational process.
Self-Paced Learning Environment: With WriteStories, students work independently, allowing them to explore and experiment with their writing. They can revisit and revise their stories, learning the valuable skill of editing and refining their work.
Parent Dashboard: The platform’s parent dashboard allows you to track your child's progress, review their work, and provide feedback. This feature is essential for parents who want to stay involved in their child's writing development while fostering independence.

We completed this curriculum this summer - 2024 and the assignments/tests and answer key DO NOT match well at all - Needs an overhaul. Not sure if the 2024 version has been updated, but I am pretty underwhelmed. Very simplistic and not HS level in my opinion. Most of what is taught my daughter learned in Public Middle School before we switched to Homeschooling.

Are the actual lessons fillable pdf files like the lesson plan can be filled in online or would you have to print the pages with student fillable areas out in order for them to complete it? It seems like that could add up to a lot of printing.

Thank you for this!!! Everyone tells me that my 7th grader isn’t behind and that I should take that out of my vocabulary. But the reality is his dyslexia and dysgraphia have placed him very behind 7th grade curriculum. I’m meeting him where he is now (we’re working on multiplication and reading fluently on a 4th grade level after completing dyslexia training) but in 1 year he’s supposed to be gaining high school credit. He’s no where near that! He very much just needs to work through the curriculum to ensure there are no gaps in his math and that he’s prepared. We will keep on keeping on and design our own path with him. Thank you for this!

  • @lisachristinaconfirmed5067
    @lisachristinaconfirmed5067 2 роки тому

This was a great video with great advice. My situation and question would be what if you pulled your child out of public ( up to 7th grade ) when they’ve been going their whole life, then started really homeschooling on your own - no online school- now it’s end of 8th, they are “ behind” according to public school state standards, so let’s say , I did not return him to public 9th grade this upcoming fall semester, which is the start of high school, if I put him back in at any time, the school does NOT have to count ( even with their own testing ) him at his “ grade level “ so if by 11th homeschool is not working at all, then he could be placed with kid’s below his grade level and for self esteem reasons which matter GREATLY for my son, could impact his education experience A TON- especially if he saw all his peers that he has known for years in a grade above him, it’s very possible that would be a terrible hit to his self esteem. So getting accredited may matter depending on the child as we can never see the future.
