The delay almost doubled the transit time, which was terrible at this airport because there wasn't much to do. I'm very surprised to see Sri Lankan Airlines served a small snack on this very short flight; and also IFE with USB port on an old narrowbody

Does it have a weight scaling machine to check the weight of our baggage by our own?

Service Quality is Zero!!!...My last trip to India was horrible..Flight was delayed terribly at Sydney..As usual, no intimation whatsoever for the delay..after arrival in colombo, we were asked to take the transit visa after payment in order to avail the free lodging facility which is just ridiculous. They entice you with free lodging then finally, you land up in all sorts of hassles. During my recent trip, they were calculating the ticket price for the free lodging requirement than, duration of the stay for the connecting flight...Sorry, won't be taking srilankan airlines, hereafter!!!!

The Golden lounge is one of the best lounges. Love the food there, especially South Indian vegetarian. Malaysian Airlines changes it's equipment like Malaysian Airport changes it's boarding gate. KUL > MEL on QF Points is quite hard to find these days if you're Gold and lower. Great review once again!!

Thanks for the informative review. Cathay's product looks quite good. Please don't pay even a jot of attention to the SCAMtrax rankings. It just shows how rubbish those rankings are when Air New Zealand's premium economy does not even feature in the top 10, when in reality it's the best PE product out there. Only Emirates' PE comes close. Singapore Airlines' PE is so average yet it appears at #2. What's that about? Skytrax is one big scam.

I flew Cathay Pacific Premium Economy from Chicago to Hong Kong. I flew out of Salt Lake City to Chicago when I picked up my flight with CP. From HK I continued on to Manila in The Philippines. On the return flight I flew back to HK and then CP from HK to Los Angeles. Then LAX back to SLC. I’ve flown dozens of flights all over the world and every single class type. In my opinion, the CP Premium Economy is more than well worth the upgrade. I’ve flown Business Class that wasn’t as good as CP Premium Economy. I highly recommend it, depending on where you’re going. As far as price goes, my company was going to pay for me to fly Business Class or First Class, depending on what was available, but the guy traveling with me had to fly economy. They upgraded me because I have chronic pain and needed a knee replacement at the time. I didn’t feel good about that, so I had the travel department see what it would cost for the two of us to fly Premium Economy vs the other way. Turned out it was $100 cheaper for the two of us to fly PE and so the company quickly agreed and the two of us got to sit next to each other. People also asked why Chicago to Hong Kong. It’s an easy answer when you look at a globe. Up and over the North Pole!!!!!

Incredible review! You did a great job even after all those flight delays. Your voiceover was calm and clear. The serandiva lounge is not great. But if you're OneWorld Emerald you could use the Lotus First Class Lounge in the future. It's a much better lounge. As per OneWorld website Araliya Lounge is also accessible to OneWorld Saphire and Emerald. However I've heard that they may not allow you if you fly Sri Lankan for some reason. You need to fly other OneWorld airlines for that. I have been on Business with Sri Lankan on 3 sectors. You get paid WiFi onboard on A333. I've tried the full flight messaging package and it was quite good. I didn't have to check any work related emails as I was flying during weekend. I've also heard that if the flight was full, they would upgrade the Y class economy passengers first and then OneWorld Emerald and Saphire. Love to see more. Best of luck for 2025!

That breakfast meal looks outstanding. And the dinner too. Sri Lankan always offers amazing food and hospitality. Finally you got something to be happy after a long flight delay. Nice video. Enjoyed it

The extreme delays are sadly very "normal" with SriLakan Airlines. As a Sri Lankan living in Melbourne, I take a longer(and more expensive option) with Singapore Airlines or Cathay as opposed to the direct flight to Colombo! 😵‍💫 Sadly UL is not trustworthy at all!

I’d be curious to know your height, given you’ve said the leg room is decent despite your knees being right up against the seat in front.

Nice review mate, sounds like you had it all on the journey back to Australia. Huge delay but a bump up to Business Class sounds great! Bit of a concern it appeared economy was over booked though if they hadn't had that spare capacity some passengers might have been stuck another day or a few. Look forward to seeing what the second leg of the journey looks like!
