Hiking Nooksack Cirque Sept 2024
An unforgettable adventure through the verdant forest to the Nooksack River.
Once at the river you get your feet wet with multiple crossings, some shallow and some thigh deep. A couple of places it was dangerously swift and deep so I managed to bushwhack through thick wet brush.
It was all worth it to reach the headwaters of the Nooksack River below cliffs and slabs with countless waterfalls coming down from glaciers above.
The hike is about 14 miles round trip going all the way to the head of the cirque but can be less to have a good experience.

Beaver at Whatcom Creek

Until now I had never gotten a picture of a beaver. Usually I have seen them and with a slap of the tail they are gone. Not this time. I was out to photograph birds and so I had my telephoto lens with me and when someone asked "what was that animal over there?", I had the equipment to capture it. The later video clip is very close up and I had walked to near where the beaver was but didn't want...

Some fantastic scenery from camps and hiking in Nevada and Arizona, April 2024. It was a peakbagging trip but this presentation focuses on a variety of the beautiful sunsets, sunrises, rock formations, flowers and birds along the way that added so much to the enjoyment of the trip.
Winter Wonderland at Artist Point, Mt. Baker WA

Snow softens the edges of a landscape and deep blowing snow coats the trees, creates cornices of undulating waves of snow and ice. Eventually the storms abate and it's time to explore the wonderland that has been created.

Austin Creek waterfalls

Austin Creek in Sudden Valley WA is a delightful mossy and fern-filled small gorge with a number of waterfalls. Although surrounded by homes it has a remote feel and the taller falls in this video isn't very easy to access. There is an old abandoned trail that goes part way but it's slippery, scrambly and wet. I recommend good hiking boots and poles, carry rubber boots for wading and getting pic...

A week of camping and hiking in the Idaho panhandle, southern Selkirk Mountains and Kaniksu National Forest. We hiked to Harrison Lake (and Harrison Peak but no pictures since it was foggy), Roman Nose Peak and lakes, Saddle Mountain (some bushwhacking) , Shorty & Lone Tree peaks, Hidden Lake and Red Top Mountain. Spent three nights camping along Cow creek near confluence with Smith creek. Our ...

On a cold but clear and beautiful day (Jan. 14,2024) four of us (five if you count Zoe the dog) set out to do the Burnout loop on Chuckanut Mountain. First video is Fire Creek Falls (that's the name on Google maps) very frozen over. Then scenic views on the trail and views to Mt. Baker, Twin Sisters and out to San Juan Islands and distant Olympic Mountains. As we reached the last viewpoint goin...

Taken at Chuckanut Pocket Estuary. I found this a bit amusing, especially as the duck flipped over to get itself immersed.
Cold January Days, 2024
Переглядів 5309 місяців тому
Unusually cold and windy days for the Bellingham WA area with no snow and clear skies. It was tough to be out in very long so I took pictures close to home of some of the beautiful places that are short walks from the car. I especially enjoyed seeing ice encrusted rocks on the saltwater, something that takes quite cold conditions to occur. Places: Marine Park, Boulevard Park, Whatcom Falls Park...

Sackout Mountain, views to incredible mountain scenery
Hey im in Bellingham and am researching going to Price Lake. When would you say is last call before Winter arriving?
Just love Canada geese.
Awesome video, did you run into any wildlife?
This is so pretty
beautiful 🤍
Excellent video Grant! Love the sloshy clouds down there!
beautiful
I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
Gotta take care of the lil ones. There so cute 💕
Cute geese🦤🦤🦤🦤🦤
Great video. I get subscribers every time i make a short with geese. Long form documentary doesn't get the clicks it deserves. If you put out a few very short 8 seconds of these baby geese It would get thousands of views. People love duck shorts. I only do tik tok style shorts these days and harvest subscribers daily. Great way to build a channel quickly. Awesome video. I love the big birds! ❤
Never seen such colors in any aurora pics before. This is spectacular!!!
How cool. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful photos you got there! Wasn't that the most amazing thing? I am just uploading my little music video of this once-in-a-lifetime experience too!
Thank you so much….. wonderful….🎉😢
Amazing footage and a beautiful animal, thank you for sharing!
Amazing so lovely capture
You were in the right place at the right time with the right gear🎉. Wonderful to see the beaver up close. Thank you.
Hi Grant, great footage and living up to being very busy! I saw one canoeing and got the tail slap too.
Beautiful!!! Thank you Grant.
Just splendid, Grant! Really! Breathtaking pictures!!!
Enjoyed watching this video my friend Really awesome views Thank you Stay connected
Awesome work man! Reminds me of a book I have that has the photography of Craig Tuttle. You neglected to mention one also needs a water friendly tripod as I assume you had the set up in the creek! Cheers!!!!🤩
Yeah, expect to get your tripod wet for sure 😅
very nice shots Grant!
Thank you Stan
Very nice video. Thank you for sharing.
It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Your pictures are beautiful as usual and how you put them together is very artful. I loved it. Thank you, Grant.
Another great bunch of photos and thanks for sharing Grant!
Awesome video 👍🏽
Seems like a nice and productive spot.
Wonderful photos! Thank you for braving that cold.
It was pretty cold, couldn't get anyone to join me but glad I got these pictures and video.
Very nice, thank you.
Awesome Grant!!
You got some wonderful photos and video there, looks like a perfect day out (a bit warm for January, but I am not complaining!). Congrats on getting to see the short eared owls… they are quite captivating to watch, I think!
Thanks, I was inspired by your recent post on short eared owls and glad that I was able to see them. So fascinating and though it was crowded with other photographers it was something that I will have to see again.
Strong and so brave! G_dspeed, wild ones.
Yes, public intoxication in Bellingham, what is our city coming to?
Lovely! Chirp...uh hiccup!
This was stunning. It moved my heart. Isn't Nature awesome. I don't know how to get to this spot. Can you tell me? 🦋💛
Taken in Maritime Heritage Park in Bellingham. There is a paved trail along the creek and footbridge across the creek. Above the bridge are waterfalls where I took these and last clip was below the bridge where there were lots of salmon. Where the creek widens you might also see seals
Thank you, Grant. Your presentation was beautiful! The music fit so well.
Some people just can't retire soon enough!
Thank you so much for this video! I have missed hiking season this summer due to an injury, so this is consolation.
Lovely Grant!
Where’s Annette? I like rage wolves and th big birds and the small birds, What the heck, I liked ALL of it!
She was there, just not the subject of this particular set of pictures. She really enjoyed the wildlife too!
What a sweet video!
BEAUTIFUL
You got some stunning shots as usual! I really need to go explore there some more!
Great footage. We hiked this trail last week and also spotted a bear crossing the trail. Maybe 50 feet away. It met my husband's gaze then ambled up hill.
They are fun to watch. We had one that was being tormented by several bluejays. Love watching all the antics!
Iam surprised it is around all the human noise. Beautiful owl video Grant.
Pickle ball players!
Never seen anything like it! How the mama fed the babies, with such a sharp beak!! Nature is truly amazing. Thank you for posting this video.
Welllllllllllcome!
