    This concept of a low larynx is true for range, but more so limits itself to very few styles and genres. Pop, rock, and musical theatre require a high larynx, jazz requires a neutral larynx, and classical and opera require a low larynx. However, since my ultimate vocal style, which is still a work in progress, is derived from a combination of various styles, I figured that it would be possible to sing in a way that makes the larynx move violently by jumping, rocking, stretching, pulsing, and rattling without causing pitch problems or breaks in the sound, but that would only be reserved for my own music compositions and not for performances of anyone else’s work. My idea is literally a hyperrealistic form of psychedelic pop, a newly created derivative of pop music that doesn’t require a “high larynx” like today’s pop music does but instead allows a fast repetitive cycling through all possible larynx positions without tension or pitch problems. Can you make a video demonstrating how possible that would be?

      @Anders_Ray_Voice 16 годин тому

      You're absolutely right about other styles demanding different laryngeal positions. in general though I feel like the larynx should be "quiet" and not forced into any particular position. For me, the only way to produce a free and healthy sound is to separate vocal production from laryngeal position. I believe this is possible in all styles.But to be honest I am not a master of high laryngeal singing since I've sung opera my whole life.

    • @caleguillory5451
      @caleguillory5451 16 годин тому

      That reminds me of when I was doing some pop songs with my very first voice teacher Bray Wilkins. He and I were singing along with the original recordings and while I would be trying to mimic the original artist, my teacher would sing opera style. As a result, my ears couldn’t tolerate two opposite singing styles clashing together, but I was way too focused on singing to worry about that anyway. In fact that might be something else that probably inspired me to develop this style of repetitively cycling through different larynx positions as quickly and for as long as possible.

    What is your perspective on the likelihood of vocal destruction stemming from an attempt to combine a wide vocal range with violent high-velocity laryngeal movement? What I just described is part of my personal style that I’m working towards as a singer, but I wouldn’t consider it a technical desire since I intend to use the exact technique I just described but without exerting force or tension on the larynx and vocal cords and for looks and style rather than for purposes related to technique itself such as incorrect manipulation of pitch, timbre, or airflow if at all possible.

      @@genowefaborycka3871 I love Elvis! You can never go wrong with falsetto sirens; either on a hum or vowel and flipping between full/chest voice and falsetto from low to high, high to low. It’s a great way to loosen things up and get a good healthy vocal stretch. I also like scales: 3-note, 5-note, or 8-note major scales on Ah. You can mix up the patterns and vowels however you like. Great question. The short answer is no, but it really depends on what you're singing. Being connected to your voice will give you more quality and control and is basically always preferable. BUT in my experience it's easy to go too far with the idea of, or feeling of, "connection." So you have to be careful about that or it can feel heavy, weighty, effortful. I would say it's much safer to practice lightness and agility and work on "freeing" up the voice first.

      There's no hard and fast rule about this. You can still make healthy sound without a low larynx. For me, singing bright and forward is more important. If you can add a low larynx to that without losing your forward/bright position... THEN it really enhances the quality. But it really depends on what you're singing and how you want to sound. First priority is light, bright and forward!

      @ Okay I will try. I can feel that lowering my larynx gives me plenty of space in my head voice, especially the high part around F5 - C6. But I need to raise my larynx when singing with a metallic/chest like sound (only sustainable up to A5 though. I don’t sing classically… I suppose I would not sing that high when singing classically. • @Anders_Ray_Voice
      @Anders_Ray_Voice Місяць тому

      @@RaffaelWindgassen No there is no cap. The only limitation is your own physiology. For pop/metal/modern style of singing it's much more acceptable to just sing bright and connected. For higher register it's good practice to work in falsetto and mixed voice. That will give you more extension and is very healthy compared to belting or going with a lot of weight and volume to the top.

    • @ceriellis1090
      @ceriellis1090 Місяць тому

      Hey so overly dark and weighty sound comes from the larynx being fixed in a low position, which is exactly the issue with titling videos things like "Why a Low Larynx is the SECRET to Amazing Vocals" because lowering your larynx WILL NOT turn you into a good singer. Keeping a low larynx should not be the aim or you'll do it by any means necessary which will ruin your natural sound. A naturally lowered larynx can be achieved by just relaxing your pharynx and then your job as a singer is to put faith in your instrument and support it with the muscles responsible for breathing out. When you hyper focus on lowering the larynx you start to search for the sensation of having it low in order to make you feel safe in your technique but this is over involvement as a lowered larynx just feels loose and relaxed. Larynx movement is a natural part of singing and you shouldn't stand in the way of it, you also don't need to control it, you just need to relax and put faith in your instrument If you have trouble getting in touch with the muscles required to breathe out, try partially covering your mouth with your hand to create resistance (not too tight) and breathe out for reps. Try finding that relaxed pharynx space (look up anatomical diagrams and also release the nasopharynx) and do a released, slow hum that is controlled by the transverse abdominus and so doesn't involve you having to think about anything above the collar bones. You should feel a lot of brightness in the sound. Do that hum slowly and focus on engagement of the breathing out muscles and take it up and down fifths or octaves if you have the strength. The most important matter of this is to put faith in your voice in that you don't need to make it work, it will just work. Good luck

    You’re not understanding falsetto. Because you’re trying to go from disconnected falsetto to connected, which is absolutely impossible. You have a disconnected falsetto and connected falsetto. You’re right that you can slide from low notes right into reinforced falsetto or head. 🙏🏾❤️😎

      Love it. Usually if you give more energy to notes right before the high note, then the high note will come out better. Of course it could also be a physical limitation. My recommendation is NOT to belt or go with force/volume, but rather use your head voice. Utilise idea of falsetto.

    Some of my best songs were recorded after recovering from Covid with a speaking voice that would rival Sam Elliott.🤷‍♂ Probably not the best thing for the long-term but hey, I'm 52, I'm not about to launch a debut life-long career. I've only got a decade or so left in me. 🤣
