I am Joni, the owner and crochet pattern designer behind Ruby Webbs (rubywebbs.etsy.com). I recently moved from Northwest Ohio to Southeast Missouri. My husband and I have been married for fifteen years. We have a beautiful daughter named Ruby and several pets. I found the love of crochet and began crocheting in 2010 when my daughter was just a toddler. I sold my first hat on Etsy that same year. With so many new and creative ideas constantly running through my mind, I began writing my own crochet designs and selling my patterns in 2014. In addition to Etsy, I have had the privilege of writing crochet patterns for Homespun magazine. My crochet patterns can be purchased at rubywebbs.etsy.com and rubywebbscrochet.com.

Hi everyone, I know this is pretty fast but if you push the cog wheel on the video and playback speed to 0.25 it is much easier to follow in my opinion. I hope that helps.
How many skeins does it take to make the bag?
I'm in love with this hat. I just finished using Lion Brand Heartland in White Sands! Great tutorial, I even enjoyed the yarn chicken ending! Thank you for sharing.
If only you were louder in the video it would be better video
I purchased this pattern and was glad for the video. However, I must be doing something wrong. I have the video set to full screen but it looks like you have your camera turned for portrait rather than landscape. You're in and out of the screen. Anyone else having that problem?
Here is the link to the written pattern. www.etsy.com/listing/1832579646/crochet-pattern-with-video-the-snowdrift?click_key=813d911805dfdc1af4cf4911ffd42cfa1352b9ba%3A1832579646&click_sum=c8b6422b&ref=shop_home_feat_1&pro=1&sts=1
This definitely isn’t a beginner pattern, but this tutorial was really helpful to me. After frogging row 3 several times, I figured out that this is worked in clusters of six stitches each. That really helped me to understand placement of stitches for both row 3 and row 4.
Idk, I tried and I’m finding this very difficult. The thing for the cables is very hard to follow without giving up. The written pattern wasn’t much help either.
Yea way to fast. I’m confused. Too bad. I even bought the pattern but came here for clarification and got zero help. Do better with your tutorial and slow it down
I'm frustrated
I am so confused.. looks like ur skipping or stitching in same one as fp
Here is the link to the full written pattern in case anyone is interested. www.etsy.com/listing/1813796770/beginner-crochet-pattern-with-youtube?click_key=484a2754b5d8649d23c57adf5e595b8c788c1a06%3A1813796770&click_sum=0cb6ed37&ref=shop_home_active_3&pro=1&sts=1
I love this hat! Beautiful!❤
You need to use your hook to show which stitch you are referring to because you put your finger on the stitch we are to make a HDC or FPDC. please point to the stitch you are referring to instead of saying next stitch it is very confusing for me.
Far too fast shame such a lovely hat 😕
I think this video is great even though I am left handed. i found it much easier to watch it on my laptop versus my phone. I also expanded the screen and slowed down the speed of the video. I watched it multiple times looking at the pattern instructions I had printed out. Once I completed Cable A and repeated round 2, it became clear where the stitches needed to go. Cable B was a little more difficult, but you need to keep watching the video and listen to her instructions of where to put the stitches. I am just starting round 6 and am very excited about how the hat is turning out. My granddaughter will love it! She picked out the pattern. Thank you, Ruby!
This is an excellent pattern and tutorial for intermediate crocheters. Thank you!
Is that a loaded FPDC?
what is a loaded FPDC?
How many rows on the brim
❤❤❤❤ absolutely love this. So intricate, but simple at the same time 🥰 I’ve been thinking about designing and writing patterns and then posting tutorials on my channel, so thanks for the inspiration. 🥰
Why change the crochet hook? Does it make bigger or smaller work patterns?
Why do you change the size of the crochet hook?
Thank you so much
Ruby, I have bought many of your patterns and I am making this bag. You are wonderful. Thank you so,so much
Thank you so much for that sweet comment! 🤗
Beautiful pattern! Thank you! I can’t wait to make this for gifts and myself. Ruby always comes through with lovely designs on her website.
Your design is gorgeous!! I bought the pattern and was doing well crocheting along to it.... Then I thought I'd try to link to the video just for kicks. Oh my!! You are an amazing tutor!! Thank you so much for the wonderful pattern and this terrific accompanying video!
Thank you so much! I am so glad you like the pattern and find the video helpful.
Everytime I do this pattern I end up short on my last set of stitches. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
How do you do the decrease rows ???
At the end of row 2 you say to slip stitch to first stitch double crochet. The first stitch made is a half double then 2 double crochets.
Thank you, what a wonderful pattern. I am a knitter and am learning crochet for 2024. I’m still a beginner and this is a perfect beginner pattern. Written pattern instructions are clear and easy to understand and for us newbies the video along with it is the icing on the cake. What a way to boost my confidence. Thank you again. & your ring is beautiful!
what is the multiples on the pattern
Thank you so much for this video. I purchased your pattern on Etsy and was delighted when I realized you had uploaded a companion video. I am an experienced crochet-er, but I did end up needing to refer to the video a few times! 😊
You are so welcome! I am so glad the video helped!
The most important is to fast 🤷♀️ I can’t see it
This is only an audio video.🤷🏽♀️
how many rows on brim, please
I'm very confused on the ''next stitch''. Could be just me, but in the video, it never seems to land on the correct stitch or it seems to skip a stitch here and there. I've done the round 2 like 4 times, and I always end up with way over 66 stitches.
Right, im supposed to have 66 but I keep getting 78 😅
i totally agree. so confusing as to which stitch is next. it seems to change. i am stuck on row 2 having ripped out several times. did you finally manage to complete?
I cannot get past round 2 either. Can’t count how many times I have pulled it out!!
The video is unclear on where you put the stitches and you can not see because you go too quick and your hands are in the way even when I slow the video down
i love this pattern it was so easy to follow :) thank you
Thank you so much!
Just so everyone knows you can slow down the video playback speed. I found this useful while watching her do the first few stitches of each round. She does cover stitches with her fingers while crocheting which can be unhelpful. Other than that the video is excellent. Thank you for the tutorial, and I like the option of having regular speed on the video or slowing it down to learn.
I love your patterns! I do have a quick question on this one, though. In the beginning when we sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, you mention we should have 23 stitches, wouldn't it be 22? If we're starting out at 24 and start at the second ch from the hook. I just want to clarify because I've torn it apart because I only had 22 and not 23 🙂
You should have 23 stitches at the end. You chain 24 at the start. You skip the 1st stitch (turning chain) and into the 2nd stitch from chain make the single crochet. Then make 22 single crochet to the end.
When you sc in second chain from hook, you are just skipping over one chain and we have left 23 chains left to work into. Does that make sense? That would give you 23 stitches.
maybe do is slower from the start.
you are going too fast
Tap that settings icon on the upper right of the screen, select playback speed and you can either slow it down or speed it up. Hope that helps 😊
Excellent tutorial. You did a great job of showing which stitches are to be worked into for cables, which can be very confusing. I don’t feel you went too fast at all. This pattern be tricky for some crocheters, but I would attribute that to the difficulty of front- and back-post stitches. It’s very common to miss some stitches or place them wrong when doing cables.
How do I make that beautiful brim?
She has a tutorial for the Berkeley beanie that includes instructions for the brim. Looks like the same design to me. It's a basic single crochet back loop only format. Have fun.
It’s just 16ish single crochet stitches(back loop only) back and forth until you get the desired length.
Is there a video with instructions on how to close off the top once you reach your desired height? Are there decrease rows involved?
Beautiful ❤, thank you.
Glad you like it! Thank you!🥰
