A Hollow Tree - Skinwalker movie (Proof-of-Concept)
Переглядів 2,1 млнРік тому
Starring Tom Kerrisk & Mathew O’Hare [In Development] This is a proof-of-concept independent short film for university dissertation studying techniques to create a post-apocalyptic environment. This was a low budget, student production. If you're interested in seeing this developed into a feature film let me know in the comments! Thanks for checking it out.
The best part about this was the Skinwalker and for some reason we spent most of the time on nothing. All the interactions besides the skinwalker were utterly meaningless, we got like maybe a couple sentences of world building and that's it. I was completely uninterested in the basic post apocalyptic "blast" story. And the characters didn't add anything new to the concept. It's all just basic apocalypse world characters, the only never before seen exciting idea here was the skinwalker. The characters introduced had no reason to be introduced. I get it's a proof of concept but, it's terrible proof. It spent way too much time and probably money filming the ambience which didn't totally match the apocalyptic vibe it was trying to give. I know that's hard to do on a tight budget, so just don't do it. Focus on your strengths and hide your weaknesses. There are other more interesting ways of conveying a post apocalyptic world. After giving us a taste for the skinwalker in beautifully terrifying way, the rest of the film was a huge boring let down up until the end. Somehow they managed to scare us in broad daylight, that was amazing. I can do without everything else. There was no story to follow, so they shouldn't have pretended like there was one. Just too much fat around the meat of horror concept
Better than ANYTHING put out by Hollyweird in years! Please stay in the business!@
I'm a jaded c, but I actually thought this didn't suck.
Was really getting into it, then it abruptly ends, such as life .
"Blue Fire?" More like "Blue Balls!"
There are Irish myths similar to Skinwalkers that I feel you could use instead. Great concept though.
It’s the resident evil steps for me. This was rad. This deserves more. I don’t know what the next step would be but I would absolutely watch a full length project. There’s an awful lot to this story I want to know more about
Caca💩💩💩💩movie
Kind of boring. Cinematic shots that add no real value or story telling just drag it on, could be ten minutes shorter and deliver the same value, and maybe include some more skinwalker stuff since that’s the title of the video. All these comments are glazing 20 minutes of world building for 0 pay off.
The piano piece at 13:30 anyone know what song that is ?
Love this! One of the things that kind of me out believing it all is the condition of the clothes and props and all. it all looks like it was bought for the film and used right away. None of it was weathered. Like none of it was dirty, worn, or torn at all. But still, the story is awesome!
Ewan McGreggor’s older brother was brilliant in this!
This would be a awesome movie! Great detail, great acting an amazing plot
The noise getting louder showing they're getting chased in the end was rlly cool
Is this a movie yet
What a nightmare to be stuck in that situation with a kid.
Mf finish the concept this was rly intriguing!
Kind of lacking if you ask me.
I love the idea of the apocalypse happening and that's when skinwalkers become common knowledge. It's the ejd of the world and that's when humanity recognizes the deeper magic and threat's of the world.
Crazy that this is a just a university dissertation would have wanted to see more.
Why did the protagonists skin burn when exposed to the sun in the opening scene?
faltou uma legenda😢
Super cool! I think this is one concept where more interaction with the Skinwalker wouldn't detract from the fear. If anything it would amplify. Maybe a scene where it's raining heavily and the characters are hiding in a small cave, scent covered by the water running over the cave mouth, and they still hear it screaming, and maybe see flicks of it moving through the trees in the distance. And perhaps to add even more horror, the characters come across a legit human at some point and ultimately part ways, then later on in the movie, the Skinwalker alternates between this first scream, and the scream of that other human they met
Where’s the rest of
Wowsers that was suspenseful more please
Sir we need more. PLEASE
Maybe you should also have made an ending to the movie. I mean where was the action ?
Skinwalkers ONLY bother Native Smericans on the reservation
Could be a changeling or some type of Fae and he used Skinwalker as a buzzeword for engagement. Although Changelings are more like to steal and mimic a child than a man.
Gotta make sure ya got a loud ass alarm on your watch when you’re hiding from monsters. 😂
9:47 this scene kinda gives me the last of us vibes
The kid is not skinny💀🙏
The Annihilation theme is so ominous
You can hear/notice the skinwalker pause in the middle of saying help when the watch beeps
Love the annihilation soundtrack
Plz bring the skinwalker back
Whoever made this clearly got inspiration from Gemini Home Entertainment. I like the inspiration
A summary of what we know so far: - A blast of apocalyptic proportions happened recently and seem to be the root of all the problems - Scarcity of food, fuel, meds, crops don't grow and die - Everyone is sickly and malnourished, either due to the lack of food or perhaps the blast has something to do with it - A lot of people are dead, the protagonists are clearly shown looting a jacket off of a corpse and it seems to be a common sight to them now judging by the lack of a strong reaction - We know skinwalkers mimic human sounds to lure people closer, and that they can hear even the quietest sounds like a watch beeping from a mile away - They think up North is more promising, and that the city is dangerous, going off of what they said they suggest there's a lot more of those "people" near the cities and that's why it's dangerous - Cars are now a rarity and dangerous as the old man warns "you'll get that boy killed" likely due to the attention they will get with all that noise
I dont understand why the sun burned him?!
2:51 How to identify a skin walker 1. If it repeats the same words in the same monotone 2. If it doesn’t look like it’s sitting in its skin naturally, arms stretched out 3. If it gallops when approaching you If the creature you are seeing hits any of these 3 marks, then you should’ve already been running before reading the list

If this was episode one for a tv show I would tune in next week
Right after he says it's been a long time since I've seen an animal you hear a bunch of birds chirp....
I would love another one. This was great.
Good lil film wish it was little longer really enjoyed it
Need this in serie, omg! 👌
is there a part 2 ?
I don't know if people died because others though they were skinwalkers for screaming for help...
It is funny, Americans have convinced themselves that a stranger asking for help is a monster you have to kill ... just... yeah
their accents sound more English than anything but I get what you mean. though unfortunately there are those who prey on the kindness of strangers, regardless of their nationality. the stories are a warning to those good samaritan types. we wouldn't feel very safe offering a car ride to any hitchhiker, likewise I doubt many would help a person in distress especially in a rural area.
@@rune.theocracyThey sound Northern Irish, they keep slipping into southern irish/half american accents
@@a.i5233 I believe you but it's probably the choice of cast, I don't know what ethnicity they are and I'm not sure where this film is supposed to take place at all. I suppose it is the US considering if it was the United Kingdom we'd hear more about crossing the channel
I had an ex girlfriend who was navajo and I used to go to feast days and her family brought up the yenogoshi (hope I spelled that right) or skinwalkers and I asked how they came to be and what they were. The way they explained it was that they actually are human but some had made a deal with dark forces and transformed over time. It was fascinating and though I never did believe it, I always loved hearing the stories about their culture
