    Love, love, love your embroidered prints!! You are so talented. I hope all goes well at your first show this weekend, not only as a confidence booster but also to confirm you made right choice changing careers and going back to school. That was a gutsy decision, and you should be proud at how far you have come in a year of podcasting. I really like the color and shape of your crochet shawl. I prefer to knit rather than crochet because I get confused where to place the stitch (insert hook) when crocheting. Front loop, back loop, between posts....😂 Take care, ❤ from USA.

    Enjoyed watching your video. Loving your blue yarn used for the shawl. Like you I am not a very confident knitter. I only cast on my first pair of socks back in April this year. I have switched to doing cuff down and using a very stretchy cast on and have now made half a dozen vanilla socks. I did try the emotional support chicken but wouldn't have completed it following the pattern alone. I found a lady on UA-cam from the company that wrote the pattern who took me through it step by step and I was very pleased with the result. I did use an Aran weight yarn. I like you, also am a crocheter but wanted to try a new adventure with knitting this year and already knew the basics.

    Hello Ness, new subscriber here in Adelaide South Australia where it's a bit cold. I am English and spent many lovely holidays in Cornwall as a child - it really is a beautiful county and it's nice to have a bit of nostalgia from the old country. I loved "Poldark" but my favourite series (I'm ancient hope you don't mind) was with Robin Ellis and Angharad Reece (ask your mum) 🥰😍🤩 I love your book, it's just so beautiful. Until next time, love Angela 😘Xx

    Hope you have a wonderful trip to Scotland. I have only ever knit socks cuff down, with a heel flap and heel turn. It sounds much more daunting than it is, and I find that the fit is fabulous. My plans for the emotional support chicken have been revived now you’ve mentioned it (I love the yarns you have chosen!) and I already have the pattern. Jinny

    Happy holiday to you! For your cuff down socks you can use the short row heel that you have already mastered so that would be an easy intro, but I started cuff down with a heel flap and it's not hard, you can do it!

    I went on the Sunday when the sun shone. What a difference between the two days. People who'd been on the Saturday told me how bitterly cold it was and about the horrendous car queue to get in. Sunday's definitely the better day to visit. What a long way to drive. Such dedication. You deserved a few treats. X

    I absolutely love the Bird Street Yarn that you chose - the colours are so beautiful ❤ As usual, I am knitting socks - a scrappy blue pair was finished yesterday, so they have been washed and are on sock blockers drying. Unusually for me, I had 2 pairs of socks on the go (I will stick with monogamous sock knitting from now on!) which are in 100% pure wool from a slaughter free flock. I am going to participate, for the first time, in The Crazy Sock Lady’s Summer Sock camp, which starts on Saturday. I have got plenty of wool wound up and ready to go for that. Other than socks, I am knitting a blanket for my grandchild who is due in September. Thank you for the vlog. Jinny

    Hello Ness, I am not too far away in Taunton. I hate walking on piers too. My toes feel like they have curled over just stepping onto one. I think it is seeing gaps in the planks that does it. 😬😝

    Hello again Ness, I can confirm I also have a weird fear of piers, and I'm a confident swimmer too so I don't think my fear is of being in the water, its the fear of falling through the slats. The holes look bigger than they are 😂. That cowl looks lovely, the yarn has worked up nice 👌 and thank you for the little workroom tour x

      Oh wow! Yes! Piers are terrifying and I’m so glad you understand! My boys think I’m a little strange for my fear but oh my! I think it’s worse when the water is there but I don’t like them even when there is no water so I think you are right about the falling part! X

    I have never knit toe up socks. I am definitely a cuff down, heel flap and gusset sock knitter! I always hand wash my socks in Eucalan, and then spin them in my socks only salad spinner! I bought a sock hanging rack from Amazon to pin them up and put them in front of my big bedroom window (best £7.99 I have ever spent!) The very old toy patterns are quite sinister looking! In top year juniors, we changed to decimalisation, and still convert ‘new money’ to ‘old money’ quite frequently! Jinny

  • @JuliaEdge-u6j
    @JuliaEdge-u6j 4 місяці тому

    As a knitter for almost 50 years, I must correct you: The term ‘need’ does not apply to yarn acquisitions, yarn desires, yarn window shopping and yarn dreaming! All those endeavours are essential for knitters 😂 I am 64 next month, and was medically retired from teaching due to a brain tumour about 5 years ago - Foundation Stage and KS1 (ie Reception and Infants in old money!) I love the colours for your colourwork sweater. Just be careful about the difference between a synthetic yarn and a wool jumper in terms of blocking and blooming when washed. I am mainly a sock knitter, but also love shawls. I do NOT like lace (though yarn overs are fine in rows of eyelets) but love texture. I am moving away from fairly bright merino and nylon, to 100% pure wool from a sheep sanctuary, which are dyed in plain colours. I am hoping to move onto fair isle knitted socks. The book from your dad is gorgeous 😍 I have never been to a yarn festival, and now I have severe mobility difficulties, I doubt I ever will. I LOVE winter and autumn, but don’t care for warm weather at all! Jinny

      @TheCornishStitcher 4 місяці тому

      Hi Jinny, welcome 🥰 Thank you for your lovely comments. My jumper sadly, is back into balls of wool at the moment as just wasn’t working well! Most of my teaching career in the classroom was also as a Reception and KS1 teacher and that’s the part I miss! I lived their zest for learning. Socks are becoming a real thing of mine too ❤️ Take care and hope you enjoy watching 😊 Ness xx

    Yes, please, do make a Wonder Wool vlog if possible. I have several skeins of La Bien Aimee in the too-good-to-use section of my stash. Postage from France to USA is prohibitive, but the yarn's available here in the nicest LYS. I recently did use most of a skein of her Kumo for a Saturday shrug. Wicked expensive yet so beautiful I have no regrets. I'm watching from Washington state, in the top northwest corner of the USA. xxx
