I was hyped for KSP 2 until early access launched, then i saw the cheeky price and the first reviews, for this pretty-early access game from another studio. I would have bought it if a good final version had been come out, but there is too much early access scam out there and KSP 1 (with mods) is still better.

I'm honestly not that surprised since looking at some older promotionals, I saw they were advertising THE TEAM working on it. I do not care if the game is made by ogres, elves, phantoms or any other group of fantasy creatures, please, just make it good.

"I'm not happy but I'm not surprised." -- This speaks for all fans, I think. The moment that we saw the incredibly ambitious scope and took into consideration what we got on launch day, we knew that this wouldn't work.

No skin off my teeth, I decided I wasn't playing ksp 2 until they had all the bugs worked out.. I hope they can square up their company and make it work, as a player of the original Kerbal Space Program that has landed on every Celestial body I was looking forward to moving past the Kerbal system but not sure if that will happen now

Hi - 1st time viewer here. This is pretty much spot on, I will just add that I think lack of launch cost also make the game less interesting. Too much focus on visuals, failure (forced wobble and explosions) and now ugly green men rather than making cool and interesting space creations.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This game was doomed the moment they put valentina out front instead of jeb. Nothing could have communicated wokeness more.

Imagine thinking that a rocket game with little green aliens, developed entirely by white people, was doomed and "wokeness" because one of the little green aliens was a girl. Dont be such a snowflake.

1:05 No, they didn't. It was easy to tell that they were highly edited, basically just CGI video that showed little to no gameplay. I was screaming this from day 1 and it was literally the biggest red flag, but everyone was too hyped about seeing pretty images.

Seven years and they delivered nothing of value. I'd have fired them all if I was T2 as well. Seven years and millions invested makes me really sure the devs were just going on holiday and pretending to work.

Says the people that wasn't around then KSP launched. They basically launched KSP2 in same state like KSP, the difference now is that people has exceptions and is comparing an early access with a finished game.

@@XouZ88 lol. The reason KSP2 failed its because take two bosses expected a 4x profit and they barely got 1 when ksp2 released. this is how big companies operate, if they don't make at least 4x the amount the game cost to make they will abandon it. Just like @avocadoAfficionado said.

  • @OzzyInSpace

I said this from the very start. They had all those "dev vlog" and "game feature" videos coming out all year and even the previous, leading up to the early access release year itself. Then suddenly, that Oct (just a couple months before release) we're told it's getting put into early access, and that NONE of those previously bragged about features would be in the game. LOL What a rug pull moment for the whole community. And you couldn't find ONE content creator that was flown out to their fancy dinner, that had any negative thoughts on it... like they tried to insulate themselves ahead of time... wonder why? What a joke, playing on the good will of this community from the first game. A true scam IMO.

Also, when hardware recommendations were posted and 12gigs of RAM was MINIMUM (for this kind of game...) I knew right away they weren't interested in optimizing the game or tightening up code.

  • @johnroscoe2406
    @johnroscoe2406 Місяць тому

As time goes on, Early Access becomes more a scam. Yes, I know you are absolutely right, that it is a great model when used correctly. But that's the thing. Increasingly, examples of being done correctly become more and more past tense, and less and less current. Whatever good there ever was in Early Access is pretty much gone. I will never, ever buy in to an Early Access, no matter the title, no matter the devs, no matter the publisher.

As another commenter put it - Subnautica ruined EA for everyone else, by setting the gold standard and generally "not fkng it up". Its hard for other EA projects to compare with that, and all the rest end up looking like total disasters - even IF they make it to release.

Imo, the game was doomed when they started development without involving a single developer from KSP1, even in a consulting role. That put them in the position of having to completly reinvent KSP1 and add KSP2 features without the benefit of an ounce of hindsight. We'll never know how much time was wasted solving the same problems that were solved 10 years ago.

Take Two utterly failed KSP2 in every facet a publisher can. They failed to understand the IP they had purchased, failed to contract the right studio...twice, failed to provide the resources and expertise that Intercept lacked, failed to market and launch the game in a way that it would succeed, and failed to communicate with their customers. On every front they mismanaged their IP, and continue to fail now, as they burn it to the ground.

Love KSP, had KSP2 on top of my wishlist from the first day the store page went up. Got it on launch, and only then did I learn about all the features that were cut and slated for "later" like multiplayer, announched just a week or so before. Wasn't even able to play the game on launch, because it kept crashing, on the beefiest hardware achiveable at the time. It was so obviously clear that their focus was on visuals, which just isnt going to work for physics simulated space exploration game, you NEED a solid game underneath all the makeup. You dont see good code, you experience it, but CEO's don't want to understand code and just look at the flashy flashies and go "cool!" It was so painfully obvious that this was going to be the "result" from the get go, that I immediately refunded my dream game. Another thing ruined by middlemanagement and beancounters, text-fucking-book

KSP 2 was doomed at launch. The roadmap really showed that there was too much ambition, they shouldn't have gone out of the Indie zone. A full graphic and sound rework of KSP1 would have been enough.

There's only three major factors that contributed to failure of KSP2. Bugs, in the first place, obviously, lack of features, this is the second major, and the price. Would it be 10-15 bucks - then maybe I could've tried it, even though it would be mostly to support the devs, because there's not much to try. But their greed, and the hype train they intentionally created and then ruined from a cliff with how much they promised and how little they delivered - this is a no go. Even though I'm a fan of KSP. The rest, especially regarding the UI, is mostly a rant, not the major and likely not even a factor.

I have had a lot of the same ideas. I got the one opinionated guy vibe with the wobbly rockets in general. Like dude...I felt more exasperated and worried about that right from the get go. The core of the game was never wobbly rockets. No one has a review that is like "you should by KSP because the rockets wobble."

KSP 2 was doomed from the start, for a lot of reasons; mostly because of TakeTwo Interactive and what I perceive as standard corpo shareholder scheming; Between the standard reshuffling for acquisitions, to the first dev team (Star Theory Games) being met with delays and then having a third of their team poached to make Intercept Games, and other non-sense like that. I didn't buy KSP2 when it went into EA, due to the severe criticism and honestly moved away from KSP entirely until I came back and then heard about this; but I'm not surprised. It seems from the other PR disasters about bugs becoming features that the people in charge never worked on, played, or even understand, what made KSP1 a success that is played more than it's own "sequel". In the end, this is just another chapter in "Never Trust Corporations", and on the (presumed) death of KSP2 I leave with the iconic words of Benny from Fallout New Vegas: "Truth is...the game was rigged from the start."

lots of complaints about big wigs demanding a revenue stream is just dismissing the fact that the developers job is ultimately to make money. i doubt the big wigs jumped in super early in development and were like "wuh?! why isnt there money yet!?". if theyre jumping in telling the devs to just get something out and bring in some money, then chances are high that the game was way over budget for the state it was in and the big wigs either wanted to show it could start making some money or just abandon it, which judging by the layoffs, they went with the latter, which isnt necessarily a bad business plan. sure the game MIGHT have been good eventually if given the time to finish it, but how much more money would have been dumped into it by then? given the state of it even now, i doubt waiting for it to finish would have been even remotely worth the cost.
