I started using a slide rule back in the 1970s, before calculators were available. I never noticed the little c designation for computing the area of a circle of a given diameter!! Thank you!!
Extremely simple slide rule. Reminds me of the Aristo Junior
"Very easy to read". 😄 I have a Hemmi 259 and the easiness to read it - probably due to the clean layout - is one of the first things I noticed, when I got it.
Extremely poorly presented -- you put your text over the markings needed to be read!
1975
kinda hard to understand. What are we solving for? and where was the D/M scale?
Regarding 0:10, the C gauge mark is √(4/π) = 1.128 and is used to find the area of a circle on the A scale as calculated from its diameter on the D scale. For example, place the C gauge mark on the C scale over 2 on the D scale which is the diameter of a unit circle. Then go to the Left Index of 1 on the B scale and read above it on the A scale that the area of a unit circle is 𝜋 ≅ 3.14. The C1 gauge mark is similar to the C gauge mark. The C1 gauge mark is √(40/π) = 3.57 and is used to find the area of a circle on the A scale as calculated from its diameter on the D scale. For example, place the C1 gauge mark on the C scale over 2 on the D scale which is the diameter of a unit circle. Then go to the 10 at the middle of the B scale and read above it on the A scale that the area of a unit circle is 𝜋 ≅ 3.14. By comparison, the C1 gauge mark √(4/π) ≅ 3.57 is larger than the C gauge mark √(4/π) ≅ 1.128 by a factor of √10 = 3.16.
This sounds like a in memoriam
Thanks. I knew how to make the calculation with the markers on the cursor, but the "C" was new to me. That would be helpful with one of the models that do not have the shorter side markings 😃 Brings me to a follow-up questions: Some slide rules have a "C1" marking on the C scale; roughly at 3.57. Do you know what this can be used for?
I Just bougth one of it but I don't know if the impressions are with Hot or ink, Would you tell me please,?
It could be a solasi did hand seal Not released yet
@@mochamadharso6545 Thank you, it is a Casio adding machine and I already discovered that it is hot printing, greetings from México 🙋🏻♀️
That’s cool. I just learned about this today even though I have an interest in cursive and other vintage writing and communication methods.
That was a stab in heart 😿 is cursive really vintage? 🥺 I’m a 35 year old who was raised by her grandparents who were raised by their grandparents so I guess I missed a few generations somewhere.
Thanks. Mine had the same issue, but the solution was different. I couldn’t identify a wrong lead so as a last resort I blasted it with a heat gun, which miraculously fixed it without breaking it.
Thank you for your video. On my calculator the 5/4 switch shows wrong result = "8.407000" Do you have any idea why is this?
Okay, I get how to use that HITECH calculator. In case of what we are using, how can we get the senior discount continuously? Like example the total bill is 1500 then they have a senior citizen id of three and they are 6 people. This is how we compute the bill. Like example, The computation is 1500 times 20% (senior discount) ÷ by how many they ate which is 6 people then multiply by how many senior citizens id the have (3 sc id) how can we use it continuously like that?
I have a vintage slide ruler and a paper book that says the quick and easy slide rule instructions book.
How long do they stay in the oven?
Thanks for sharing! My dad gave me his old set of Mars 700 pens that had been in storage 30+ years and I'm trying to get them working again, but until this video, all my searches came up with info on 'mars matic' pens. Do you know if the Mars Matic inks would be the same as what you used? Or backwards compatible?
Perfect. Simple, easy to understand, and you show both a text example and a real world example while also telling you a useful scenario for it.
Thank you. Solved ✔️
Where is the stamp with the year located? Can't find it on mine. Found a picture, and it was located on the end of the ruler, but it is missing on mine.

I have an Aristo 915e at home, but I have no clue how it works. Maybe you can explain it in a video? That would be much appreciated!!
Hi, for Aristo 915 the scales A, B, BI, C, D, LL, X2, X3, 1/X, EX etc. are standard scales you you can watch any video about slide rules to understand how it works, 915 also got some special scales maybe I can cover them later. Thanks for your reply.
I have the same calculator. I was using it when while I was studying 20 years ago. ...and it still works!
Mine is probably about same age, I bought it used in a thrift shop, they are very reliable.

Excellent! Thanks for posting! Really enjoying the Versatrig 1450 I got off eBay. Just bought a Versalog 1460. Learning about these is a blast, sorta like discovering the philosophy of math!! Very helpful video-to the point and complete.
ESMERALDA: EMBAJADORA DE CHILE
What kind of ink is it? I used fountainpen ink but it does not write
Fountain pen ink is probably too thick, try drawing ink, it comes in tiny bottles, your stationary shop should have.
did u put it in sonicator? or just soaked with warm water?
I would try luke warm water first, and then ultrasonic bath, no chemicals since these pens are old and the plastic may be brittle, maybe a drip of soap only.
Hey can you show me how to operate all the functions???
I bought mine in a thrift shop and it come with no manual, and I never seen any online, but I figured out most of the functions, what function are you looking at?
My grandpa gave something like this. How did you change the ink?
Soak all parts in luke warm water until clean, refill with syringe or thin straw. Be careful the old plastic can break and your old pen is probably discontinued.
Dam that has far more feature than I would've ever thought
Thanks Bats.
I have one but no longer have the manual. Where can I get a manual?

Looks like the ordinary ABCD set to me. A double logarithmic rule on top 1-10,10-100, for the AB pair, and an ordinary CD pair on bottom, no? What did I miss?
What did you use to clean those?
You could use warm water
Hi,I just use luke warm water and a small brush
"Put in oven for a while" - how long is a while? Is the plan to completely dehydrate them?
Thank you for Sharing -- Ya... The spare battery .. clever idea and very useful .. This was a Programmable Calculator and I have one with Programs for working out Co-Ordinates to bearing and angles and also to calculate the setting out of road curves and other neat requirement for setting-out using a theodolite. I wish they were still available - This was a great machine and so much smaller that the bulkier FX74000G + .. I anybody has one for sale ?? Casio FX4500P or FX4500PA - Please let me know ..
Just curious why? They keep for up to a year in the fridge if contained correctly. Or where you given more than a year's supply?
